Chapter 1363: Chapter 1365: Life-sustaining Capsule Chapter 1363: Chapter 1365: Life-sustaining Capsule Song Jian could only rush toward the two aberrant beasts at top speed and kill them to prevent more revived creatures from appearing.
After charging forward for over a hundred meters, Song Jian encountered a giant metal door towering five to six meters high ahead of him. This door resembled the one he passed through upon entering the place, except the previous door slid to the sides, while the current metal door was designed to slide up and down.
At the moment, the door seemed to be malfunctioning, getting stuck halfway up. To get through, one had to stoop.
Once inside, Song Jian discovered that the room beyond was a fully equipped research laboratory, roughly the size of two or three soccer fields. On either side of the room, there was a row of life-sustaining capsules filled with a pale green solution, each over two meters tall. Within these capsules lay various bizarre biological organs and tissues, all of which appeared markedly different from those of ordinary creatures.
In these rows of life-sustaining capsules, some had been destroyed for unknown reasons, their casings shattered with a large hole, and the sustaining liquid within had long disappeared, now only covered in a thin layer of dust.
Song Jian continued to walk forward, feeling the presence of the two aberrant beasts getting closer and closer. Soon, he saw several monsters housed in the last few rows of life-sustaining capsules at the back of the laboratory.
They were termed “monsters” rather than aberrant beasts because these creatures were all humanoid. It was evident from their floating state within the capsules that they were bipedal, but their physical features were vastly different from those of humans.
Song Jian also located the presence of the creature whose vitality had reached the peak of the dominion level, which was emanating from one of the life-sustaining capsules.
At this moment, within that capsule, there was a monster nearly two meters tall, with sharp claws and a wolf's head, its body covered with thick, black fur, drifting in the sustaining fluid.
“Werewolf?” Song Jian's eyebrows furrowed slightly. He hadn't expected to encounter werewolves in the Assessment World, knowing from multiple encounters in the game world that not only were they formidable in strength, but they also possessed intelligence and civilization comparable to humans, having once established a powerful empire dominated by werewolves.
“Impossible, in this Assessment World, neither myth nor legend has ever mentioned such beings…” Song Jian shook his head and thought to himself, “Even these aberrant beasts only emerged in recent years due to radiation from meteorite fragments from outer space; there have never been similar records before!”
As he spoke, Song Jian widened his eyes and immediately checked the attributes of the creature inside the life-sustaining capsule that resembled a werewolf.
“Mutated Terror Wolf Beast (Special), Level 90 Dominion-Level BOSS, Vitality Points 6,970,000/8,000,000”
Song Jian took two steps back. The creature before him, looking like a werewolf, was still an aberrant beast, but its mutation seemed somewhat distinct and special compared to the others, or else it wouldn't have appeared in this place.
Turning his head to look at several other life-sustaining capsules nearby, Song Jian noticed that the creatures in the other capsules were similar to the mutated terror wolf he was currently facing. Although they varied in appearance, they were all humanoid beings capable of walking upright!
At that moment, the body of the previously still mutated terror wolf began to shake violently. The liquid within the capsule turned murkier, and it was apparent that metallic-gleaming bone spurs were slowly protruding from the spine of the wolf's back. These bone spurs looked like blades, with thin edges on both sides, nothing like a normal biological tissue.
Crack, crack~
The slowly protruding bone spurs soon touched the life-sustaining capsule. Quickly, white spots appeared on the surface of the transparent glass, and cracks spread out from these spots. In a short while, a loud “crack” was heard as the capsule shattered entirely, the sustaining fluid spilling all over the floor, and the body of the mutated terror wolf collapsed limply to the ground.
Just as the body of the mutated terror wolf was about to touch the floor, it recoiled like a spring, regaining a standing posture. At the same time, its tightly shut eyes began to slowly open.
A pair of ghostly green luminescence, akin to will-o'-the-wisps, burst forth from the eyes of the mutated terror wolf, displaying a fierce and bloodthirsty look. Upon seeing Song Jian, the creature's face twisted into a ferocious expression, its mouth slowly curling up to reveal sharp fangs, while emitting a deep, guttural growl from its throat, tensing its body like a drawn bow.
Song Jian could not help but tighten his grip on the Sky-breaking Sword. This slight movement seemed to trigger the hunting mode of the already poised mutated terror wolf, which pounced at Song Jian with incredible speed. Its figure even left an afterimage in the air, and its sharp claws shot out from the palm, creating a piercing sound as it sliced through the atmosphere.
Clang~
The claws collided fiercely with the Sky-breaking Sword. The mutated terror wolf was knocked backwards, and Song Jian also had to step back several times to stabilize his stance.
“Its strength is no less than mine!” Song Jian's face revealed a look of surprise. He was, after all, ten levels higher than the mutated terror wolf. Although leveling up did not increase his attribute values, the strength of this creature was evidently much higher than that of a typical sovereign-level boss.
This thought flashed quickly through Song Jian's mind when, incredibly, the mutated terror wolf in mid-air made an eerie move. It stamped fiercely into the void behind itself and shot towards Song Jian like an arrow, immediately engaging him in a fierce fight.
Two figures clashed like lightning within the vast experimental lab, creating a tempestuous wind in the room. Various workbenches and equipment, hit by the reckless vitality and Sword Qi, instantly shattered into fragments. Sparks burst from severed wires, turning the entire laboratory into a chaotic mess once again.
While Song Jian fought the mutated terror wolf, another humanoid creature, resembling a crocodile, slowly opened its dark gold eyes inside another life-sustaining capsule. These eyes were filled with endless coldness and murderous intent. It watched Song Jian and the mutated terror wolf fighting. The once calm pupils involuntarily showed a hint of bloodthirstiness. Seemingly infected by the battle, the creature's body, covered with blue-black scales, seemed to breathe in and out, ready to join the fight eagerly.
