Chapter 1289: Chapter 1291: Necromancer Chapter 1289: Chapter 1291: Necromancer “`
Just as Song Jian lamented that the Dragon Soul Guard seemed somewhat irresponsive, a sudden violent explosion erupted from within a hill surrounded by undead creatures.
Boom~
Dirt flew in all directions, and with a massive explosion, the hill that stood five to six meters tall shattered apart, sending chunks of rock flying dozens of meters. Some were moving so fast they smashed the skeletons of several creatures to pieces.
The hill was leveled, revealing a layer upon layer of massive structures hidden beneath it.
The first to emerge was a huge statue, entirely carved from Obsidian. This stone is a low-grade forging material, a kind of additive, not very expensive. But a statue five to six meters tall like the one before him, carved from a single piece of Obsidian, would cost at least ten million Doomsday Coins. After all, such a complete piece of Obsidian is very rare.
The statue depicted a figure in a black cloak, its right hand holding a scythe almost as tall as the figure itself. The cloak obscured the face and body, with only the right hand exposed. That hand, devoid of any flesh, was entirely skeletal.
It was easy to imagine that beneath the black cloak, the body and face would also resemble a frightful skeleton.
“Is this… the Death God?” The first thing that came to Song Jian's mind upon seeing the statue was the legendary Death God.
“Necromancers are followers of the Death God, which makes sense!” Song Jian smiled faintly, his interest in the Necromancer growing.
Soon, the altar beneath the statue also slowly came into view. It seemed to be one with the statue but was actually carved from two separate pieces of Obsidian.
On the altar were placed limbs and viscera of creatures, whose blood had not dried up yet, dripping slowly down the altar, staining the entire black structure a dark red, which appeared quite bloody.
Smelling the scent of blood and flesh, the surrounding undead creatures began to grow restless, growling lowly and surging forward without stop. But those closest to the statue and altar seemed terrified of something and retreated backward in fear.
Soon, chaos erupted among the undead as those wanting to press forward and those wishing to fall back collided with each other. Some, with a more violent temperament, even began to fight amongst themselves.
It was at this moment that an angry roar came from beneath the statue.
“Silence, you fools!” A gaunt man wearing a black Mage's robe and holding a Bone Wand appeared at the altar below the statue.
His eyes were blood-red, his cheeks seemingly devoid of flesh, and the skin so shriveled it clung tightly to the bones, presenting a ghastly appearance.
However, inside him, the Force of Death surged tumultuously like the tides, wave after wave spreading outward, making him seem like a gigantic source of energy radiation.
Song Jian's eyes lit up. This person before him must be the Necromancer required for his mission.
“This Necromancer's strength is somewhat higher than expected!” Song Jian frowned slightly, his gaze fixed on the Necromancer as he released the Eye of Insight to check his attributes.
“A Level 120 Necromancer with King Level BOSS power, and, it looks like he just broke through and can't yet fully control the powerful forces he now possesses, which is why his aura is leaking…” Song Jian thought to himself.
“`
This was probably the first King Level BOSS that Song Jian had to face. If it were someone else, they probably wouldn't even have the qualifications to stand before this Necromancer.
However, Song Jian, a player who hadn't even reached the third tier of combat power, faced such a powerful enemy without a hint of fear, instead feeling somewhat eager to try.
The appearance of the Necromancer had calmed the already restless undead creatures. Even Tang Li from afar had entered into stealth mode, not daring to reveal a trace of his presence, for fear of being noticed by the Necromancer.
With his current strength, even if the Necromancer stood still and allowed him to attack, he probably wouldn't be able to break through the opponent's defenses. For a moment, Tang Li felt timid and began to regret his decision.
“Such a terrifying guy, I definitely couldn't be his match. Rashly getting involved in this event, I might die a very miserable and ugly death!” Tang Li thought to himself, already harboring thoughts of sneaking away.
Story missions are precious, but one's own life is even more important. Triggering a story mission that one simply couldn't complete would result in nothing but a certain death.
Just then, Tang Li inadvertently saw Song Jian standing on a hilltop without any cover, and his expression immediately showed shock.
“Is he, is he an NPC or a player? How can he just stand so openly on the hilltop, is he insane!” Tang Li exclaimed in surprise.
“Hehehe, yet another fool seeking death has come…” The Necromancer also spotted Song Jian, turned his head, and his blood-red eyes revealed a bloodthirsty color. On his withered cheeks, a smile appeared.
The right hand holding the Bone Wand lifted slightly, pointing gently in the direction of Song Jian and whispered, “Kill him, and bring me his body!”
For a Necromancer, the body of a strong fighter is the best material to work with. It could sense the aura of a strong fighter emanating from Song Jian, but that aura also told it that Song Jian's strength was only a little over level eighty, not yet at the third tier of combat power.
“Such a body could at least be crafted into a Skeleton Warrior, and if luck serves, maybe even a Skeleton Knight, hehehe~!” the Necromancer thought to himself.
Boom, boom, boom~
Nearly all the skeletal creatures in the hill surged to life, rushing toward Song Jian. Thousands of creatures, each at least level eighty and even the weakest of bone quality being of Elite Level, together formed a veritable monster army. Not to mention Song Jian, a player who had not yet reached the third tier of combat prowess–even a warrior in the Legendary Realm would find such a situation troublesome and difficult.
Tang Li from a distance had already widened his eyes in fear. He couldn't imagine what would happen next. Putting himself in the same situation, he didn't think that Song Jian could escape from so many creatures hunting him down!
Song Jian snorted coldly, and with a thought, a pair of wings about five to six meters long appeared behind him. The red and black wings fluttered gently, immediately lifting Song Jian into the air.
At that moment, two Bone Dragons, each about thirty meters long, roared as they crushed several skeletal creatures beneath them. Flapping their bony wings, they also rose into the air, flying towards Song Jian. In their fierce maws, a thick green Undead Dragon Flame was rapidly forming, aimed at Song Jian who was already airborne.
