Chapter 1189: Chapter 1191: Puppet Bead_1 Chapter 1189: Chapter 1191: Puppet Bead_1 Being able to solo an Elite Level BOSS more than twenty levels higher was already considered very impressive among players, but compared to Song Jian, it somewhat dampened the mood.
Watching Song Jian stand there with his arms folded and a smile on his face as she fought the monster, Xin Ling instantly felt demoralized, yet it also ignited a sense of pride in her. Her moves became more fierce, and sometimes she would even trade blows with the monster, preferring to take a hit just to land a few on her opponent.
More than twenty seconds later, under a splendid ultimate move from Xin Ling, the monster slowly collapsed to the ground, a stream of black smoke rising continuously from its carcass.
Having killed the monster, Xin Ling didn't immediately pick up the loot but sat down instead, taking out a piece of food that replenished Vitality Points and stuffed it into her mouth.
These foods that could restore Vitality Points could only be used after exiting combat, and would take effect only after eating for a while. If a fight occurred, their effects would be interrupted.
Though they had many drawbacks, their advantages were also quite clear–one was that they were cheap, and the other was that they could restore a substantial amount of Vitality Points, which was why many players made a habit of carrying several sets of food.
“Lucky, aren't you, to get a gold-quality item drop?” Song Jian walked over, surprised, and looked at the loot next to the monster's body. You should know that he had killed seven monsters, but only got two silver, two blue, and three green quality items. The rest were a pile of white-quality materials and miscellaneous items.
Xin Ling killed only one monster and got a gold-quality item drop, the value of which far exceeded the seven monsters Song Jian had hunted. Her luck was so good that it even made Song Jian a bit jealous.
“You killed seven; shouldn't you have gotten more good stuff?” Xin Ling, after fully recovering her Vitality Points, stood up and spoke irritably.
“Only two silver pieces!” Song Jian touched his nose, somewhat embarrassed.
“Haha, really?” Xin Ling's face lit up with joy, and she laughed, “What do you say, do you want to buy this gold item from me? I haven't checked the attributes yet. Would you buy it for five Purple Crystals?”
“Purple Crystals, heh, how could we possibly have any Purple Crystals when we just entered the Imperial Sword Sect? I do have a fair amount of Doomsday Coins, though. What do you say, want to make a deal?” Song Jian said.
Doomsday Coins in the game were akin to game currency, and Purple Crystals were like cash points in the game, with values that were worlds apart. Some items purchasable with Purple Crystals couldn't necessarily be bought with Doomsday Coins.
“Alright, five million Doomsday Coins then, deal? Wanna bet? This is a gold-quality item dropped by an eighty-level Elite BOSS!” Xin Ling glanced at the spherical object exuding a golden glow on the corpse and chuckled.
Bead-like items, if of epic or legendary quality, might be top-treasure items, but if gold or lower, they were much more likely to be just materials or other not so valuable items.
Song Jian smiled faintly and directly transferred five million Doomsday Coins to Xin Ling. Doomsday Coins meant next to nothing to him now; he seldom used them to buy equipment, as the gear that could be bought with Doomsday Coins was hardly of any use to him anymore.
“I'll take that bet; I believe in your luck!” Song Jian laughed.
“Fine, generous!” Xin Ling gave Song Jian a thumbs up, then bent down to pick up all the other items. She grabbed the bead and tossed it to Song Jian.
As soon as it was thrown, Xin Ling, who had been wearing a smile, suddenly changed her expression in surprise, “A Puppet Bead?”
Song Jian caught the bead and also paused, then a trace of joy appeared on his face, “I didn't expect it to be a Puppet Bead, haha, that's a win!”
As he spoke, Song Jian dripped a drop of blood onto the bead, and soon, the bead trembled lightly and flew into the air from Song Jian's hand.
“Click click ~”
After a series of mechanical sounds, the fist-sized bead split into countless nail-sized fragments that pieced together into the shape of a humanoid robot.
A light shimmer passed over the newly-formed robot, a sheen of gloss appearing on its body surface, and tender skin gradually emerged. In short order, a homunculus that looked exactly like the monster they had hunted down earlier stood before the two of them.
On this humanoid creature, the same clothes as the monster wore previously clothed its body, and except for the color of the eyes, it was nearly identical.
“Great Master, your servant Kamodo greets you!” The person in front of him knelt on one knee, left hand touching the ground, right hand on his left shoulder, and spoke with great respect.
“A humanoid Puppet Beast, you, you've struck it rich!” Xin Ling's eyes were filled with envy. After all, this Puppet Beast had been sold by her, and thinking of this made Xin Ling's heart bleed.
Song Jian said nothing and immediately opened the Puppet Beast's attribute interface to check it. The Puppet Beast's attack damage was not outstanding, with only an “Iron Hook Tentacle” attack skill, which involved launching barbed tentacles from its mouth. Such an attack could be somewhat effective against ordinary players but seemed somewhat powerless against Elite Level players.
“Master Level Ancient Desolate Planting Skill and Master Level Gathering Skill?” Seeing the two skills in the life skills section, Song Jian's eyes lit up immediately.
“Can these Snake Vine Grasses be planted outside the Ancient Desolate Abyss region?” Once he had Kamodo stand up, Song Jian asked loudly.
“Of course, Master!” Kamodo lowered his head and said respectfully: “To plant Snake Vine Grass, a Wild Beast Core is needed for each acre of land. Burying a hundred Wild Beast Cores in the ground can create a simple Ancient Desolate Abyss environment! Then, using the Ancient Desolate Planting Skill will allow the Snake Vine Grass to grow.”
All Wild Beasts had a chance of dropping a core, and the drop rate was not low. Normally, they were just used for making poison pills and were quite cheap within the Imperial Sword Sect.
However, if Song Jian completes his quest and returns to the Imperial Sword Sect, the price of Wild Beast Cores may skyrocket immediately.
“It can be done like this?” Song Jian's eyes beamed, and it seemed that the Puppet Beast's utility was even greater than he had imagined. Its value was at least around a hundred Purple Crystals.
With this in mind, Song Jian's gaze involuntarily fell on the dimly visible village in the distance, the location of the Demon Suppression Seal. But with monsters like Kamodo in number, if he could obtain a few more Puppet Beads, Song Jian wouldn't need to do anything else and could focus solely on cultivating Snake Vine Grass within the Imperial Sword Sect, likely reaping a handsome profit.
“Why not complete the quest first? These Snake Vine Grasses aren't going anywhere. After the quest is done, and I get more Puppet Beads, I can come back to harvest them, right?” Song Jian smiled.
After seeing Kamodo's attributes shared by Song Jian and hearing that Snake Vine Grass could be planted in the Imperial Sword Sect, Xin Ling, just like Song Jian, lost interest in the Snake Vine Grass in the fields.
“Let's go, quickly!” Xin Ling nodded and rushed toward the distant village with some impatience.
