Chapter 1178: Chapter 1180: The Locked Chest_1 Chapter 1178: Chapter 1180: The Locked Chest_1 A Level 75 Elite Boss could drop at most one piece of Dark Gold quality equipment above Level 70 after being killed, and the odds were very slim. However, an Epic-level Treasure Chest from a Level 70 monster's territory would certainly yield an Epic-level item of Level 70 or above. The two couldn't even be compared.
With a slightly disdainful look, Xin Ling watched as Song Jian charged towards the Level 75 Elite Boss.
Thousand Swords Art!
Without the slightest hesitation, Song Jian raised his right hand, and the Sky-breaking Sword appeared in his palm. He slashed forward, and hundreds of Spirit Swords emerged, flying towards the Level 75 Elite Boss. The sharp whistling of swords cutting through the air made Xin Ling's face change color as she instinctively took two steps back.
“Weapons that can be summoned at will, Spiritual Weapons?” Xin Ling stared at the Sky-breaking Sword in Song Jian's hand and thought to herself, “No, that's not right, not a Spiritual Weapon, just a Legendary quality weapon…”
Before long, Xin Ling couldn't help but mock herself, “I'm really dazed to describe a Legendary quality weapon as 'just'!”
Yet, when compared to a Spiritual Weapon, a Legendary quality weapon really could be described as “just.”
“A weapon that can be stored inside the body is considered top-grade even among Legendary quality,” Xin Ling couldn't help but sigh. She couldn't believe the player before her possessed two pieces of Legendary quality equipment. This was simply unimaginable before.
As for the hundreds of Spirit Swords burning with dark red flames, Xin Ling didn't pay much attention to them. After all, though such skills were rare, they existed; a Mage's Level 7 forbidden spell, Doomsday Meteor, could completely rival the scene before her in terms of power, and it was even more powerful than the Thousand Swords Art without activating the Karmic Fire Red Lotus Sword Formation.
Boom, boom, boom!
The countless Spirit Swords, like sharks that had caught the scent of blood, flew towards the Level 75 Elite Boss, the Bone Armor Saber-Toothed Tiger. The Spirit Swords continuously struck its bone armor, bursting forth with dazzling light.
In the instant after each slash, the Spirit Swords exploded, dealing secondary damage. The intense impact left the Level 75 Elite Boss powerless to counter, and it let out pitiful cries. Its body was like a punching bag, being continuously bombarded by the Spirit Swords until it could no longer even stand, completely enveloped by the ongoing explosions, with fragments of bone scattering in all directions.
“These sword-shaped energies, they are all real, with no illusions…” Xin Ling couldn't help but open her mouth wide in shock. It was known that even the Level 7 magic forbidden spell Doomsday Meteor couldn't ensure every meteor was real. A Level 1 Doomsday Meteor had at least two-thirds of its meteors being illusions, with the number of illusory meteors decreasing as the level increased.
But in this scene, the damage numbers that kept appearing above the head of the Bone Armor Saber-Toothed Tiger and its continuously dropping Vitality Points showed that these hundreds of Sword Qi energies were all real and could all cause damage.
After performing Thousand Swords Art, Song Jian didn't even bother to look at the BOSS and headed straight for the Epic-level Treasure Chest not far from the BOSS's side.
“You…” Xin Ling was about to speak, but when she saw the Saber-Toothed Tiger that had no power to fight back, she couldn't help shivering inside, feeling somewhat afraid to approach Song Jian.
“This skill is just too brutal; it can instantly kill a Level 75 Elite Boss!” Seeing the dense and numerous Spirit Swords circling the Saber-Toothed Tiger, Xin Ling felt a sense of trepidation.
Before long, the Saber-Toothed Tiger's screams grew weaker and weaker, and it soon lay lifelessly on the grass, its bone armor long gone, and countless palm-sized white bone fragments scattered around its corpse.
Five or six items, twinkling with a blue-green glow, were scattered around the body. Beside these items lay a piece of silver-quality equipment, lying quietly next to the corpse.
Xin Ling looked on with envy. These were all items above level seventy, and even the blue and green quality ones were quite valuable, let alone the silver quality equipment that had dropped. It appeared to be some kind of bone armor, but she had no idea what its attributes might be.
However, Song Jian didn't even glance at the equipment and headed straight for the epic chest.
“Huh, it's actually a locked chest!” Song Jian frowned suddenly. Normally, chests guarded by a BOSS were unlocked, as the BOSS served as the 'lock' for the chest.
“This BOSS probably wasn't a guardian. It must have come here to hunt…” Song Jian thought to himself.
“It's locked? I have high-level unlocking skills that are just right for opening epic chests!” Xin Ling watched Song Jian standing in front of the chest, staring at the lock, and felt quite excited.
“If he asks me to unlock it, I can then ask to share the spoils. Asking for a piece of silver equipment wouldn't be too much, would it?” Xin Ling pondered privately.
The BOSS was instantly killed by him, and even though Xin Ling was the first to find the chest, Song Jian would most likely not share the treasures inside with her. At best, if he was in a good mood, he might give her some low-value leftovers that he didn't care for, a situation Xin Ling found unacceptable.
Song Jian turned to look at Xin Ling, shook his head, and said, “No need!”
After speaking, Song Jian took a black key from his inventory and inserted it into the keyhole. In no time, the key turned into a pool of black liquid that flowed into the keyhole, then shifted continuously, before recongealing back into the shape of a key.
This was the Key of Oblivion Song Jian had previously acquired, which he had been using as a master key. Its true purpose remained unknown to him.
Seeing Song Jian able to open the locked chest by himself, Xin Ling's face fell with disappointment. She sighed, and turned to head towards Sword Pond Lake, planning to continue gathering Red Sword Grass to enhance her Medicine Gathering Skill.
“Right, since you found this chest first, you have a share in it, but forget about the epic items inside. All the stuff the BOSS dropped, I'll give it all to you as compensation,” Song Jian said, opening the chest without looking back.
“What?” Xin Ling exclaimed in surprise, “Really?”
Song Jian waved his left hand at her, with most of his attention focused on opening the chest. Although he had the Key of Oblivion, the unlocking process was still much slower than the standard unlocking skill, with the progress bar inching forward, making it agonizing to watch.
Xin Ling didn't mind Song Jian's attitude at all and ran happily towards the bone-toothed tiger, first collecting all the blue and green quality items. Among these, three or four were materials, with only two pieces of equipment: a blue level seventy dagger and a green level sixty-five ring, both with decent attributes.
Then, Xin Ling's gaze landed on the only piece of silver quality equipment. It looked like some kind of chest armor. When she picked up the bone armor-looking chest plate and checked its attributes, her face revealed a shocked expression, and she couldn't help but cry out loud, “This, this is actually an undergarment!”
