Chapter 1029: Chapter 1031: Visit_1 Chapter 1029: Chapter 1031: Visit_1 After resting for a day in the real world, Song Jian found the next morning that he could enter the game again, and this time, it seemed there was no longer a compulsory requirement to do so.
Song Jian vaguely felt that even if he never entered the game again, no one would force him to do so. But how could Song Jian, who had already reaped tremendous benefits from the game, possibly give up on it?
At the first opportunity after the game opened, Song Jian entered it.
The game seemed unchanged after the update; everything was still proceeding in an orderly fashion. However, Song Jian felt that even the air was filled with the scent of war, and everyone was talking about the Abyssal Passage and Abyssal Hell.
Song Jian had been to Abyssal Hell; its environment was a hundred times more hostile than the game's world, but it was also a place that truly tempered individuals. Creatures that could grow in such harsh conditions were definitely the most terrifying enemies.
“Forget it, thinking about this now is useless, just wait patiently. The game's progress won't shift with individual will…” Song Jian sighed. There was a time when he had thought that the Abyssal Passage might never be reconstructed, yet surprisingly, someone had found the location of the Guardian Temple again and received the inheritance of the Abyssal Demon King.
Boom, boom, boom~
A rumbling noise came from the skies above the City of Hope, and Song Jian knew that Wang Qi and the others had launched a campaign for territorial expansion. By now, most of the players from Doomsday City had moved to the City of Hope to live. Compared to the environment of the abandoned city, it was certainly much more comfortable to reside in the City of Hope, which also meant that nobody would come forward to resist City of Hope during each territorial expansion campaign; at most, they would merely clear out the monsters on the territories of Doomsday City.
“I wonder how Black Dragon is doing now…” Song Jian suddenly remembered his other war pet, Black Dragon. Because of the War Pet Contract, Song Jian could feel that Black Dragon was in a good state, but he was not aware of the specifics.
With that thought, Song Jian flapped his steel wings and shot up from the City Lord Mansion, flying toward the toxic swamp.
The toxic swamp had undergone earth-shattering changes. The poison fog that used to envelop it day and night had vanished, and even the muddy pits within the swamp had disappeared, with the ground becoming much firmer.
“Can this still be called a swamp?” Song Jian landed on the ground of the swamp, looking at the green weeds that had sprouted around him, feeling somewhat speechless. He suspected it wouldn't be long before the toxic swamp would need to be renamed; it was no longer simply a swamp.
Reaching the Dragon Head Strange Tree, Song Jian found that Black Dragon seemed to have grown even larger, nestling below the tree like a small black mountain.
“Level 56 Lord BOSS…” Song Jian looked at Black Dragon somewhat speechlessly, noticing that its leveling speed seemed to be even faster than his own.
Furthermore, it appeared that Black Dragon had broken through the first tier of Combat Power and had reached the second tier. Song Jian couldn't help feeling envious of this automatic advancement that did not require any examination.
Seemingly sensing Song Jian's arrival, the previously slumbering Black Dragon slowly opened its eyes. Its dark gold-pupiled gaze coldly glanced at Song Jian, then it yawned, twisted its body into a more comfortable position, and closed its eyes to resume its deep slumber.
Song Jian approached and, touching Black Dragon's hard scales, was a little speechless. The creature seemed to have grown lazier than before–more endearing when it was a younger, smaller dragon. Now, it felt like the villain straight out of a fairy tale story.
Feeling Song Jian touching him, Black Dragon seemed dissatisfied, grumbling twice and shifting its body slightly, burying its head even deeper.
“Alright, seeing that you're all right, I'm relieved. I'm off now!” said Song Jian, patting Black Dragon's huge body and smiling.
Flapping his steel wings, Song Jian took off, preparing to leave the toxic swamp.
What he failed to notice was that the Dragon Head Strange Tree where Black Dragon lay had branches and leaves that were turning yellow and withered, as if it were sick.
Flying through mid-air, Song Jian suddenly felt a surge of intense energy fluctuations from the end of the toxic marsh, as if a battle was breaking out ahead.
Curious, Song Jian couldn't help but activate his Stealth Skill and flew towards where the commotion originated.
After flying for a few kilometers, Song Jian saw two silhouettes battling ahead of him, one was a player and the other looked somewhat strange, resembling a hyenperson.
Not far from the combatants was a Dark Gold treasure chest, lying quietly beneath a giant boulder. If it wasn't for the occasional glance from the fighting pair, Song Jian might not have noticed the treasure chest for quite a while.
“This was my find first, cursed human!” The hyenperson snarled as he swung his chain flail.
“I've already unlocked 30% of it, and you say you found it?” The other human sneered, gripping a scepter tightly in both hands, casting instant spells from time to time to aid his attack.
After watching for a while, Song Jian grew curious about the player's class; using a scepter, skilled in close combat, and able to cast magic–this was a class Song Jian had never seen before.
“The magic he's casting seems to be filled with holy energy, could it be the Holy Knight class?” Song Jian speculated.
Indeed, in the game, every deity has their own Holy Knights. Just like Song Jian had encountered before with the Goddess of Dawn, aside from priests like Cecilia, there were Knights of Dawn such as Qi and Ya, who were actually a special title amongst the Holy Knight class.
After watching for a bit longer, Song Jian started to feel bored. Both characters appeared to be around level forty, both first-tier in combat power and evenly matched. Even if they fought for another hour or two, it was unlikely a winner would be decided.
Moreover, a Dark Gold Quality treasure chest wasn't much of an attraction for Song Jian. He decided to return to the City of Hope first and consider how to deal with the Abyssal Passage.
Just as Song Jian was about to leave, the player suspected to be of the Holy Knight class suddenly looked in his direction and shouted, “Friend, if you help me take down this guy, I'm willing to share half of what's in the chest with you!”
“Eh?” Song Jian raised an eyebrow. This guy could actually see through his Stealth Skill?
One should know that although Song Jian's Stealth Skill was from an epic necklace, its level of stealth was extremely high, almost on par with a max-level thief class's stealth skill. At such a level of stealth, even if he were to walk within a meter of ordinary monsters, they would not detect him.
At that moment, Song Jian was more than ten meters away from the two individuals, and yet, the other party was able to detect his presence. It could only mean that the other party had extremely high perception or possessed some special detection skills.
Instantly, Song Jian's interest in this player suspected to be of the Holy Knight class was piqued. He canceled his Stealth Skill and walked slowly towards the pair.
