Chapter 1006: Chapter 1007: Showdown_1 Chapter 1006: Chapter 1007: Showdown_1 The Elemental faction was at a disadvantage from the start in the battle with the Dungeon faction, as the addition of two seventh-tier troop types was already a decisive factor. Moreover, a group of lords and heroes who had mastered the Holy Healing spell entrusted their armies to others, concentrating all their Mental Strength on healing the Behemoths, while the Titans, being War Puppets, could only be repaired using a skill similar to “repair.” Sadly, the Elemental faction did not possess such a skill.
This skill came as an add-on when the castle reached level seven and the Titan manufacture workshop was built, yet Tatyana initially only received the Titan manufacturing blueprints and never acquired a repair skill like this.
Though it was a slight advantage, it nonetheless further tipped the scales of victory in favor of the Dungeon faction.
“Titans are truly terrifying; they can attack from a distance and up close, and their defense is too thick–not only do they have a layer of heavy armor, but even their bodies are made of special steel…” After slaying a gargoyle, a lord from the Dungeon faction couldn't help but exclaim.
“Troop types below level six inflict very low damage on them, but Behemoths are different, they are on the same level of existence; the claws of the Behemoths can easily tear through their heavy armor defenses…” Another lord laughed, “The most important thing is that we have more Behemoths than they do!”
“The balance of victory is tipping in our favor, everyone from the Dungeon faction, we've surely won!” An Examinee from the Dungeon faction shouted triumphantly.
“The final victory is ours!” Nearly all the Dungeon faction Examinees roared with excitement.
Just then, a hero riding a warhorse suddenly appeared from the rear of the Elemental faction, charging directly into the middle of the battlefield and instantly releasing a massive Titan, immediately stabilizing the situation which was on the verge of collapse.
“What's going on? How did another Titan suddenly appear?”
“It seems it was led by the hero who just joined the fight.”
“Damn it, as long as they have enough resources, they can keep producing Titans without end. Everyone, speed up, we can't give them a chance to drag out the battle, or we'll be in danger!”
The Dungeon faction Examinees suddenly became somewhat panicked as they realized that while they were fighting, the Elemental faction's rear was still busy producing Titans. However, they had no chance to recruit new Behemoths, as today's recruitment quota at the recruitment point had already been used up; they could only wait until the next day to recruit more!
“Tell the brothers to hold steady, as long as we can drag this out, victory will eventually be ours,” the leader of the Elemental faction Examinees, that massive Water Elemental, conveyed with a hint of coldness in its gaze.
Everything was within his planned control. Although Tatyana worked around the clock to produce Titans, he had used up too much time completing the task, leaving too little time for the Elemental faction to produce Titans.
Having no choice, they had to resist the onslaught of the Dungeon faction while commanding Tatyana to concentrate on producing Titans. The resource points captured by the Elemental faction were sufficient for Tatyana to produce Titans–the only limitation now was production time.
The war continued for another hour, and the Elemental faction was starting to struggle; their lines began to fall back slowly but in a controlled retreat, not a rout.
The gap in the strength of the two sides' forces had widened again to two seventh-tier troop types; three Titans had been destroyed, and two Behemoths had also died from severe injuries.
Although the Holy Healing spell could treat the Behemoths' wounds, enduring too many of these spells in turn would prematurely wear out their life potential, causing the effectiveness of Holy Healing to diminish over time.
The lower-tier troops were almost completely annihilated, and the Examinees from both sides tacitly stopped their actions, as everyone's gaze converged on the clash between the Titans and Behemoths.
“They can't hold on any longer, the Titan giants are done for once they're injured, but the Behemoth beasts can recover using Holy Healing!” an Examinee from the Dungeon faction said calmly, but his tightly clenched fists betrayed his current nervousness.
“The longer the battle drags on, the more it'll go against us. It's already been over two hours, I'm afraid the enemy will soon have new Titan giants ready…” another person said.
No sooner had these words fallen than at the rear of the Elemental faction, a hero came galloping on horseback. As he approached the battlefield, he immediately unleashed a Titan giant, which roared and hurled a lightning attack at a Behemoth beast.
Watching the Behemoth beast being struck down by the lightning attack, an arm ripped open with a two-foot-long wound, no blood spouted from the injury, which was completely charred black, sealed by the high-temperature damage of the lightning attack.
The Behemoth beast roared as it got up, charging toward the Titan giant. The two massive beasts, both towering over five meters tall, clashed in feral combat, the ground rumbling thunderously beneath them as if an earthquake was occurring.
“Damn it, the gap has narrowed again!” an Examinee from the Dungeon faction said, frustrated.
At that time, not a single person dared to declare certain victory. They had realized that the course of the war seemed to be slowly slipping beyond their control, the scales of victory were gradually balancing again, and even tipping in the enemy's favor.
“Control the Titan giants, retreat another ten meters!” the leader of the Examinees from the Elemental faction ordered coldly.
The dozen behemoth creatures, while valiantly repelling Behemoth attack after attack, gradually began to retreat, buying time with space. This was a strategy that the Elemental faction had set from the beginning of the fight.
Boom!
A muffled explosion-like sound came from within one of the Titan giants. Its attack faltered and in an instant, two Behemoth beasts pounced on it, bringing it to the ground. After a flurry of wild attacks, the Titan giant was torn apart.
On another front, a heavily wounded Behemoth beast that could no longer sustain any more Holy Healings emitted a desperate roar before being violently struck down by the staff of light in the hands of an opposing Titan giant. It crashed to the ground with a thunderous fall, unable to get up again.
“Another Behemoth beast is down!”
“We can't go on like this, many Behemoth beasts have already undergone too much Holy Healing. They can't be healed if they receive any more injuries. We should retreat immediately!” one of the Examinees from the Dungeon faction said.
“Retreat? No, that would let the last glimmer of victory slip away, giving them more time to create even more Titan giants, defeating us with overwhelming advantage!” another Examinee countered. “We should push our entire force now, unleash the last potential of the Behemoth beasts. Even if these Behemoth beasts all die here, so long as we defeat them, we can still claim ultimate victory. We absolutely can't give them any more time or opportunity now!”
“If only we had attacked the Elemental faction first, we wouldn't be in this predicament!”
“It's too late for any regrets now, if we delay any longer, there will be even less hope for victory. Trigger the frenzy, that's our last ace in the hole!”
