Chapter 1000: Chapter 1001: Battle Mode Activated_1 Chapter 1000: Chapter 1001: Battle Mode Activated_1 “`
The remaining two spells were one of the water school, the Holy Healing Art, and one of the wind school, the Attack Speed Boost. The Holy Healing Art might sound impressive, but it was actually no better than a bottle of basic healing potion and could only be used on an individual. Even with an increase in level, it would merely heal a larger amount but still couldn't be applied to a group.
The Attack Speed Boost could enhance our side's attack speed by 5%. When leveled to the max, it could increase the attack speed of all allies by 30%, making it a decent first-tier spell.
However, these first-tier spells were considered Silver Quality skills in the game world. Song Jian learned them all and then fed them to the Thousand Swords Art, increasing its proficiency by a mere 2%. It was better than nothing.
“It's a pity that we can't wait until the Mage Guild is advanced to a higher level…” Song Jian looked at the first-tier Mage Guild with a trace of regret in his eyes.
A first-tier spell was equivalent to a Silver Quality skill, second-tier to Gold, third-tier to Dark Gold, fourth-tier to Epic, and fifth-tier to Legendary. In this world, a fifth-tier spell was also known as a forbidden curse.
But not all fifth-tier earth spells were created equal. Summon Earth Elemental couldn't hold a candle to Thunder Bomb, reputedly the strongest single-target damage spell amongst all magic. Summon Earth Elemental could only call forth a pile of fifth-tier Earth Elementals. Even if these Earth Elementals all advanced to Stone Elementals, they would only be a group of sixth-tier soldiers, serving as cannon fodder in high-level battles–albeit cannon fodder with rather high defensive capabilities.
“To upgrade the entire castle to a fifth level, it seems the time required needs to be measured in years…” Song Jian calculated internally and let out a sigh.
The resources needed just to upgrade to a fifth-level castle were astronomically high. It would probably take the combined efforts of an entire kingdom to gather them. In addition, various buildings would need to be constructed and the Mage Guild upgraded to level five. Song Jian would have to stay in this world for several years at least.
“Forget it, let's give it our all for the second-tier combat power assessment.” Song Jian sighed, “Who knows which examiner managed to recruit the third hero first. Don't they know that time is on their side?”
If someone hadn't suddenly recruited the third commanding hero, the battle mode might have taken several days longer to commence. During that time, if resources were sufficient, it could have enabled a second-tier castle to upgrade to the third level.
Almost all examiners were cursing the one who had recruited the third commanding hero. As long as you recruited the second hero, you would trigger the start of battle mode. Most examiners, wary of the human faction having only one examiner, would delay recruiting the third hero indefinitely. Song Jian believed he was the most likely candidate to recruit the third hero first.
In an underground city territory, an examiner looked at the dozen plus Behemoths towering over eight meters tall beside him and a confident smile appeared on his lips: “With this group of Behemoth warriors, the earlier the battle mode starts, the greater the advantage for me. Even if that human from the human faction is formidable, can he withstand the onslaught of over a dozen Behemoths?”
Behemoths were the most formidable seventh-tier soldiers in the underground city faction and were considered equal in strength to the Giant Dragon, a powerful species on their own. This underground city examiner found a Behemoth lair in the wilds and, after expending a one-time-use legendary item, finally took control of the lair. Over the past many days, he tirelessly gathered resources to recruit every Behemoth produced from the lair.
He was the only examiner besides Song Jian who hadn't joined forces with others. The moment he took over the Behemoth lair, he knew that the assessment no longer held any meaning for him.
Twelve Behemoths were the most he could recruit by selling almost every sellable item to scrape together the resources. He believed the other examiners, commanding merely second or third-tier soldiers, posed no threat to him. From the beginning to the end, he only had one target–the examiner from the human faction.
As time ticked by, Su Ming stood atop a dilapidated main city, waiting quietly. In the underground city castle he had occupied, there were almost no signs of construction; he had built only a first-tier Exchange Centre, as he needed to convert all his resources into those necessary for recruiting Behemoths. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to recruit so many Behemoth warriors.
Song Jian called back both of his commanding heroes and waited quietly for the battle mode to begin.
System: Battle mode will commence in 5 seconds. Five, four, three, two, one!
System: Battle mode has started, please prepare yourselves, examiners!
Song Jian only felt a blur before his eyes and a dizzying sensation overwhelmed him, as if he were tossed into a fast-spinning washing machine, making him involuntarily close his eyes.
When the dizziness gradually subsided, he opened his eyes.
“Huh, it doesn't seem like there's been any change?” Song Jian looked around and found himself standing in front of the City Lord Mansion, seemingly no different from before the dizzy spell.
However, he soon noticed something unusual. The electronic map, which previously lit up only a small area, was now completely illuminated. Moreover, it differentiated various factions with colors and gathered all examiners along with their controlled resource points, main cities, and barracks recruitment locations on one map.
“This is practically an ability to alter heaven and earth, but thankfully it's just in a game…” Song Jian was shocked and muttered to himself.
In Song Jian's eyes, this was just a game, but to natives like Tuya and Catherine, they didn't see it as a game but as a living, breathing real world.
However, they lacked Song Jian's electronic map and were unaware of what had happened.
“My lord, what exactly has happened?” As a Mage, Tuya's sensitivity to spatial changes was much stronger than the average person's. Although uncertain of the specifics, he could definitely sense that, despite the environment seeming unchanged, they were no longer in the same place.
This feeling was paradoxical and confusing, but Tuya was certain they had encountered some sort of spatial teleportation magic.
Just then, a grand voice resounded in the sky.
“Examiner battle mode initiated, time limit seven days. Within seven days, the sole victorious faction must be decided. If no single victorious faction is determined within seven days, all examiners will have failed this assessment!”
