Keep Tabs on Cheng Lang

Cheng Gang's face darkened. He finally knew why Cheng Lang had removed Cheng Xingyang from his position.

It must have been that the woman Cheng Xingyang had kept in the villa in the suburbs had provoked Cheng Lang! The nerve of her!

He slowly clenched the hand by his leg, wishing he could get rid of that woman right now! Then he thought of the pregnant woman who had stopped Cheng Lang's car tonight.

No wonder Cheng Lang had come over so late at night. Their amours had discommoded Cheng Lang twice in a row and the pregnant woman tonight was the last straw. If there were to be a next time—not just Cheng Xingyang's position as Director—even his own position on the Board of Directors would be in jeopardy!

Cheng Gang was very angry and resentful. But owing to the fact that Cheng Lang held 51% of the shares of Cheng Corporation Group, he had absolute power in Cheng Corporation Group and everyone served at his pleasure. He could not afford to provoke Cheng Lang at all, at least not now.

“Cheng Lang, don't worry. I'll handle these people. I am aware of Cheng Xingyang's affair. Did you promote Xing Shu?” On the way down to meet Cheng Lang, Cheng Gang had suspected that he was here for Xing Shu, thinking that they might be involved. Otherwise, why would he promote Xing Shu out of so many people in the company? But on second thoughts, Xing Shu was the only one in the M&A Department competent to fill the position of Director. Cheng Lang only had to dig a little and he would have found that many of M&A deals were closed by Xing Shu. Xing Shu's competence was indubitable, and that was why Cheng Gang was determined to keep her under his thumb.

“Who else could it be if not Xing Shu?” Cheng Lang flat out counter-questioned. If there was really something going on between Cheng Lang and Xing Shu, he would not have been so candid. Cheng Gang was deeply relieved. He was in such a hurry to ruin Xing Shu tonight because he had been afraid that Xing Shu would hook up with Cheng Lang. Now that his doubts had been dispelled, there was no need for him to be so ruthless to Xing Shu.

“Xing Shu is indeed competent. I'll get Cheng Xingyang to learn from her,” Cheng Gang said.

Cheng Lang glanced upstairs indifferently, then casually looked away. “I have something on, so I'll make a move first.”

Cheng Gang could not wait for him to leave. He gave Chen Ru a look and she quickly sent him off. When Cheng Lang's iconic car was finally out of sight, Chen Ru and Cheng Gang's faces darkened. Cheng Gang raised his hand and slapped Chen Ru. “Look at the mess you made. Are you satisfied now?”

The slap tilted Chen Ru's face. “I didn't expect that woman to dare to stop Cheng Lang.”

Cheng Gang snorted. “There won't be a next time!”

Chen Ru took a deep breath and exhaled in acquiescence; Cheng Gang had long worn away her pride. Cheng Gang went upstairs. As soon as he pushed open the door, he caught the whiff of blood in the room. He looked up and saw that Xing Shu was holding glass shards in her hand and had cut her thigh. The drug would make one lose consciousness; she had resorted to this in order to stay awake.

To keep Xing Shu quiet, the bodyguard stuffed a towel into her mouth and tied her up so that she could not hurt herself again.

The effects of the drug was taking a toll on Xing Shu; she broke out in cold sweat. When she saw Cheng Gang return, she was terrified but forced herself to calm down.

Cheng Gang removed the towel from Xing Shu's mouth and said, “Xing Shu, I can let you off tonight. I can also leave that piece of land housing Radiant Welfare Home alone for now. The condition is you keep tabs on Cheng Lang for me.” He spoke nonchalantly, with nary a worry that Xing Shu would reject him at all. “You can also take up the position of Director—but mind you, you're only warming the seat for Cheng Xingyang. He will resume his rightful place sooner or later. You'll be my spy from now on. If Cheng Lang gets close to any woman, let me know immediately.”

Never in his wildest dreams would he have thought that the woman closest to Cheng Lang was Xing Shu!

Xing Shu sneered silently and slowly got up. The bodyguards did not stop her. She was in a sorry state and could barely stand from the pain. Despite that, she poised herself to give Cheng Gang a steely look, unmistakably filled with pure hatred.

“Xing Shu, continue looking at me like that, I promise you that you won't live to see tomorrow.” Cheng Gang gave a dismissive swat of his hand. “Now, get lost. Keep me updated on Cheng Lang's whereabouts.”

The Director of M&A often needed to go to the top floor for meetings, so it was a position that could get close to Cheng Lang. Cheng Lang did not trust anyone on Cheng Corporation Group's Board of Directors. Yet, he had just acknowledged Xing Shu's competence and seemed to want to groom her. Cheng Gang sneered. Unfortunately, Xing Shu was a marionette controlled by him. Once she outlived her usefulness, she would be cast aside.

His son would never marry such a scheming woman.
