Chapter 1273: Chapter 1274: It's Blowing Up Chapter 1273: Chapter 1274: It's Blowing Up “At your command!”
The killing monk Wuyan nodded, his body transforming into a blood-red afterimage that blurred and then vanished from sight.
Master Wuyuzi paced back and forth within the hall, seemingly unaware when a layer of cold sweat had begun to seep through the back of his clothes.
With a twist of his wrist, he took out a Huazi, the very item he had just pilfered from Luanyu. It was this thing that had freed a large number of monks from the two major temples in one fell swoop, liberating them from the Power of Faith and granting them their freedom.
He flicked his finger, and a burst of flames shot forth, igniting the stub and then drawing it to his lips for a small puff, shrouding himself momentarily in a cloud of smoke.
After a short while, Master Wuyuzi slowly opened his eyes, revealing a look of terror within. Just now, he had clearly sensed an enhancement in his own perceptiveness, but that was not the most crucial point–the Power of Faith that had been accumulating in his body had dissipated slightly.
“This thing can really neutralize the Power of Faith!”
“It's definitely the work of the Blood Demon Sect, only the mysterious and unpredictable Blood Demon Sect within the entire Central Origin Realm would be capable of refining such an object, and even mass-producing it!”
“The Blood Demon Sect is truly making its move. Xueshenzi is willing to discard the alliance of the past years and take action against our Buddhist Sect!”
Master Wuyuzi's eyes widened as he walked about the hall. Over the years, the Buddha and Demon Clans have had quite a bit of dealings, and their contacts have never been severed. However, what fundamentally linked the two clans were those two individuals within the Buddhist Pagoda.
As long as those two were imprisoned in the Buddhist Pagoda, the Blood Demon Sect would not tear their face off with the Buddhist Sect. After all, the reason why these two were quietly staying inside the pagoda was the result of both sides' joint efforts. Now, with Yitilou and Yan Zuzi disappearing from the pagoda into thin air, the Blood Demon Sect immediately showed its fierce fangs, intending to annihilate the Pure Land of our Buddhist Sect!
It truly is a case of employing others only for one's gains, sheer Demon Path tactics, with eyes only for entangled benefits!
“No, if we remain silent and passive about this, it would be far too passive. This old monk must draft a letter, to question Xueshenzi as to which act he is actually playing!”
Master Wuyuzi murmured to himself, taking out paper and ink to start writing the letter.
A night without words.
There was no peace in the Buddha Country, as all the major temples were actively employing the Six Syllable Mantra, trying to re-enlighten the liberated cultivators. With the killing monk Wuyan leading the monks of the Arhat Hall to assist, the situation that was somewhat out of control was quelled in just a few hours and began to get back on track.
Colorful Buddhist lights shone everywhere, and the Six Syllable Mantra of the Saint Realm practitioners suppressed everything.
In each temple, a figure in a black robe held a small shovel, digging a hole to bury themselves in, stealthily concealing their presence. So far, everything that had happened was expected.
The next morning.
Master Wuyuzi summoned all the abbots of the temples within the Buddha Country to come to the Great Thunderclap Temple for a meeting. The turmoil within the Buddha Country was temporarily suppressed overnight, and some matters required personal instruction.
Atop Mount of Debate in the Great Thunderclap Temple, not a single seat was empty, with monks in red Kasayas quietly awaiting Master Wuyuzi's words.
The killing monk Wuyan sat next to him, scanning the crowd with his eyes. He was observing whether any of these abbots were merely posers. If found, they would be immediately expelled from the ranks of the Buddhist Sect!
“Amitabha, I, monk Wuyuzi, greet all my fellow practitioners. Without much ado, let's get straight to the point. I believe everyone is aware of what happened yesterday. Our Buddhist Sect inadvertently fell into a catastrophe. It wasn't just the outer two hundred and fifty-one temples, even the inner sanctums, Heavenly Dragon Temple and Bodhi Temple, were affected, narrowly averting a major disaster!”
Master Wuyuzi spoke slowly.
“Amitabha, we are greatly indebted to the esteemed monks of the Great Thunderclap Temple for coming to our aid in time; otherwise, we would have been in grave peril!”
“Being able to quell the unrest among the Sect Disciples, it was all thanks to Master Wuyan and the monks from Arhat Hall. If not for them, this old monk would have become a sinner of the Buddhist Sect!”
“We must thank Master Wuyuzi; had it not been for his keen insight and immediate response, the Buddhist Sect would have faced untold losses!”
Below, the assembly of abbots spoke with excitement, “We do not know for what matter has Master Abbot assembled us today. Is there still some residual menace that has not been thoroughly eliminated?”
“This old monk will not beat around the bush. The mastermind behind this incident is very likely the Blood Demon Sect. Recently, there have been frequent disturbances within the Buddhist Sect, and many powers and Sects have sensed an unusual presence, looking to strike against us. Starting today, the entire Western Continent will be sealed off, forbidding all forms of departure, and no external cultivators will be allowed entry. We will close off our nation until the Buddhist Sect is secured, and peace prevails throughout the world!”
“In times of chaos, not emerging is the wise way to preserve one's life!”
Master Wuyuzi, with his hands behind his back, said aloud.
“Blood Demon Sect!”
“Indeed, it is the Blood Demon Sect. I heard that the object was distributed by Elder Xueyuan of the Blood Demon Sect, and it seems it really is so!”
“We understand and will do our utmost to cooperate. It's not just the Western Continent that is mentioned; starting today, no Buddhist Disciple shall take a step out of the city or temple!”
The numerous abbots nodded their heads, showing complete obedience to Master Wuyuzi's command.
Nobody expected that the Blood Demon Sect was the one behind the curtain. The Blood Demon Sect had frequent business dealings with these various temples on normal days. How could they suddenly turn their faces against them? It happened so fast, with no warning, that they all felt unable to respond.
“Hmm, in extraordinary times, we need to be united in our enmity and jointly overcome the difficulties!”
Master Wuyuzi nodded and said.
As everyone was conversing, the sky suddenly turned gloomy, as thick shadows blocked out the sunlight, like dark clouds stitching together.
Master Wuyuzi looked up at the sky, only to see that it was unexpectedly filled with pieces of paper, each one folded into a delicate Thousand Paper Cranes, slowly descending from the firmament.
“What is this?”
The three great temples had never seen this form of Thousand Paper Cranes, showing suspicious expressions on their faces. They sensed no unusual fluctuations from the cranes, as if they were merely paper cranes folded by children, but the number was abnormally high, too high to be normal.
When things are out of the ordinary, there must be demons at work; something was wrong here!
The fact that they had not seen it before did not mean others had not. At this moment, the abbots and masters who had hurried here from the outer cities saw this scene and almost popped their eyes out.
The number was outrageous, dozens of times more than the Thousand Paper Cranes that had enveloped their cities two days prior. If these were to explode, the Western Continent might very well sink!
“This is bad, this is a tactic of the Blood Demon Sect. These Thousand Paper Cranes are immensely powerful. Master Abbot, quickly activate the Mountain Protection Array to fend them off!”
Panic appeared in the monks' eyes as they screamed at the top of their lungs, attempting to leave but it was too late.
Suddenly, one of the paper cranes in the sky turned from white to red. A terrifying aura burst forth from it like a volcanic eruption and exploded.
With a thunderous boom, like the first firecracker of the New Year, waves crashed around, and at that moment, the skies filled with Thousand Paper Cranes exploded all at once, creating a terrifying surge of energy, and even the heavens seemed to tear apart!
