Chapter 1216: Chapter 1217: Xueshenzi's Test Chapter 1216: Chapter 1217: Xueshenzi's Test Heavenly Demon Peak, where Xueshenzi resides, is located right at the center of an ancient city, looming bizarrely high.
At the foot of the mountain, cultivators come and go incessantly, giving off a profound mundane atmosphere. The territory of the Blood Demon Sect is vast enough even to accommodate several mortal kingdoms, and many have never left the mountains of the Blood Demon Sect in their entire lives–of course, with their cultivation level, it also wouldn't be possible to leave.
“Sir, the Sect Master has been awaiting you for a long time, please, this way.”
Nearby, a disciple had specifically waited for Li Xiaobai's arrival, stepping forward and speaking respectfully.
“Hmm, the Sect Master is thoughtful indeed, but isn't he afraid that I might stand him up? Is he so certain I would come?”
Li Xiaobai glanced at the disciple, whose aura was calm and cultivation level not very profound.
“Hehe, Sir jests. Being invited by the Sect Master must be a good thing, who would refuse? Perhaps this time the sect intends to employ Sir in a more significant way,”
The disciple said, laughing while leading the way.
There were spiral stairs built on Heavenly Demon Peak, winding up to the summit; surprisingly, there were no traces of any cave dwellings at the top of the mountain, the entire summit was integrated, with only a courtyard constructed at the peak.
As one would expect, since it was where the Sect Master resided, naturally it was only for Xueshenzi to live in, indeed there was no need for additional cave dwellings.
“Your Divine Child doesn't reside here?”
Along the way, Li Xiaobai chatted sporadically with the disciple, inquiring about the sect's internal situation.
“The Divine Child resides elsewhere, typically cultivates on his own, and seldom visits Heavenly Demon Peak,”
The disciple responded.
“Then what circumstances would cause the Blood Pool to be accessible? Last time I went to cultivate in the Blood Pool, I was turned away by the guarding disciples.”
“The Blood Pool is intended for the training of Saint Heirs and Divine Children, and requires accumulating sufficient sect Contribution Points to enter. Other common disciples and Elders who wish to enter, aside from paying Contribution Points, also need the Sect Master's written decree, with authority granted directly by the Sect Master to pass without obstruction.”
“I see.”
Li Xiaobai nodded. The Blood Demon Sect was indeed strict, but it appeared more like a one-man show dictated by Xueshenzi. Getting indulged in cultivation like entering the Blood Pool has to be personally managed; there's no hint of delegating power, which could be troublesome.
Following the disciple leading the way to the top, Li Xiaobai was taken aback by the sight before him. From below, it didn't seem special, but once truly up there, it was an entirely unique scene; atop this mountain was an aerial pavilion.
Featuring mountains and waters, flowers and birds, insects and fishes, even waterfalls, the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful; a stark contrast to the nefarious and mourning atmosphere of the Blood Demon Sect.
This vast courtyard was akin to an earthly paradise, a mortal Immortal Realm, it didn't seem like the typical practice ground for those of the Demon Path, but rather resembled the secluded realm of the Confucian Path's sage, Beichen Feng–both exuding a serene and elegant charm, obviously a dwelling chosen by someone of refined tastes.
“Sir, my Sect Master is inside, please come in.”
The disciple stopped at the door and made a welcoming gesture.
“Mmm, I have a disciple who is currently on the way to the Blood Pool, I fear she might get discriminated against by the guarding disciples, could you please look after her for a bit? I will speak well of you in front of the Sect Master.”
Li Xiaobai said.
Even though this disciple's cultivation and intellect were mediocre, as someone from Heavenly Demon Peak, his status was not something ordinary disciples could compare with. If Meng Qi were to enter smoothly, it would be good, but if she faced obstacles, his intervention could likely solve the problem.
“Thank you, Sir. Rest assured, I will take care of it.”
The disciple bowed deeply, visibly excited, then quickly disappeared.
“Let's see what kind of game Xueshenzi is playing.”
Li Xiaobai turned around and stepped into the courtyard, which was spacious inside, with artificial mountains, flowing water, and thick vegetation covering it.
There was only one path leading to a pavilion, paved with cobblestones that, upon closer inspection, seemed to be like the eggs of a Demonic Beast, extremely hard, making it feel like walking on flat ground.
“Sect Master, I have come at your invitation.”
Li Xiaobai shouted, then pushed the door open and entered.
Inside the room.
Incense smoke curled in the air, a desk was placed inside the room, Xueshenzi was sitting at one corner of the desk, with his eyes closed, nourishing his spirit, waiting for Li Xiaobai's arrival.
“Bald Elder has arrived, please take a seat, how do you like the scenery of our sect during your journey here?”
“If you have any difficulties living within the sect, just speak up, and as your Sect Master, I will take care of it for you.”
Seeing Li Xiaobai, Xueshenzi smiled, waved his hand to gesture him to take a seat.
“Sect Master, these past few days have been comfortable, but I wonder what matter summoned me here today?”
Li Xiaobai looked around, sitting down to ask.
The Xueshenzi in front of him was still shrouded in a thin black mist, barely visible, and not only that, his voice seemed different from what he had heard previously in the three holes and six palaces.
In just three meetings, it felt like meeting three strangers; he couldn't help but doubt whether the Xueshenzi he had met these past few days was indeed the same person.
“This matter is a long story, I've arranged for dishes to be served, let's talk while we eat.”
“Here, we have only household treasures and immortal brews, which are very beneficial to one's cultivation level, and even someone with our level of cultivation can nourish the body.”
Xueshenzi chuckled.
The room was entirely empty, as they say, no good wine without a feast, it seemed like today Xueshenzi deliberately wanted to test him.
“It seems I am about to be convinced.”
“However, since there's no one else here, why would the Sect Master still hide his true appearance? Don't you see me as one of your own?”
Li Xiaobai sharply turned his question, staring intently at Xueshenzi.
He knew, masquerading as the Saint Realm powerhouse Bald Qiang, it would inevitably alert many, and since stepping into the room, the other party had been probing him; if he couldn't impress the other party quickly, Xueshenzi would likely test him soon.
“Dear Bald Elder, don't mind this, it's just a demonic technique I'm cultivating, it's not yet complete hence I can't control it at will, once my cultivation progresses, I can meet with the elders openly.”
Xueshenzi laughed heartily, seemingly having anticipated this question and was unperturbed by Li Xiaobai's sarcastic and challenging words.
“Let's talk about the serious matter first, I can't rest easy receiving rewards without cause.”
Li Xiaobai leaned back in his chair, speaking indifferently but with much style.
“Indeed, I summoned you today because I have a task for you.”
Xueshenzi slowly said.
“What is it?”
Li Xiaobai said distractedly, ready to refuse regardless of what was said, but the next words from the other party made him break out in cold sweat.
“It's not really a big deal, have you ever heard of the Villain's Guild Gang Leader, Li Xiaobai?”
