“Hena said he must report to you in person.”

“Clan Leader, it has been sent for,” replied a Bloodline member who had stepped aside.

Lide nodded and looked at Hunter sternly, “Hena, what happened?”

“Crown… I…”

A mouthful of blood spurted out of Hunter, his attempts to speak coherent words faltering.

Jones, next to him, struggling to hold back tears, spoke up when he heard Lide ask.

“Kachar City Lord, Lord Hena was injured while saving me.”

His young face was filled with guilt and sorrow; if not for him, Lord Hunter wouldn't have gotten hurt.

“Saving you? Are you a Prospector's apprentice?”

“Yes, Kachar City Lord.”

“What did you encounter? Why are your injuries so severe?”

Hena no longer had the strength to explain, so Jones took up the task of answering Lide's questions.

“Kachar City Lord, we, we found iron ore.”

“What? Really?!” Lide's eyes widened, a hint of joy emerging on his serious face which he could hardly conceal.

Jones handed him the grey-brown ore he had been tightly clutching; it still retained the warmth of the boy's hand.

With tears in his voice, he continued sobbing,

“We discovered a complete vein of iron ore,

But, but there was a One-eyed Giant near the vein!” Jones's eyes showed a hint of panic and fear when he mentioned the name.

The sudden appearance of that massive figure had cast a great shadow over his heart.

“Lord Hena was injured trying to protect me from the One-eyed Giant's attack, and two blacksmith uncles were killed…”

Jones's words made Lide's brow furrow, and a cold intent flashed in his eyes.

A One-eyed Giant?
