It was pitting the power of the nations using soldiers!

"There are more methods that can be used in the magical continent but the game version 1.0 is limited. Only battering rams, siege ladders, siege towers, and catapults can be used." Even though the steel doors of the city were enchanted, William could still make use of the Iron Dolls to bash open the door.

But he would have to pay a high price for that. To bash open such sturdy doors, three level 60 master Iron Dolls equipped with epic helmets were required.

William narrowed his eyes. He was discreetly forming a Troll contingent led by Bloody Crusher. It would consist of 20 trolls.

But William had no intention to waste these powerful Trolls in this battle.

Especially when he had a method to increase the combat power of these Trolls with epic bloodlines.

William had 60,000 soldiers who served as cannon fodders. As long as the rewards were attractive enough, these cannon fodders would be the bane of the city. It would be best if the Trolls were not used.

The battles in version 1.0 were insignificant. The real threat to the City of the Dawn's survival was the invasion of Darkness in version 2.0.

The next morning.

After all of them had their breakfast, half of the soldiers of the Black Lava Nation were dispatched from Rhine River camp. Two legions became vanguards while the other two legions had been deployed to protect the catapults.

The two cavalry legions were stationed at the flank for protection in case the enemy sent out their cavalry.

Both nations had very few cavalries because the equipment and maintenance costs were prohibitive.

What about magical beasts?

Magical beasts like treasures in both the nations. So unless the situation was dire, they would not be deployed.

William's legion of players had a huge transformation.

Chu Liuqiu had become the commander-in-chief. He grouped the players into four large legions.

First was a 14,000-strong [Brute force legion] made of shield-bearers, clerics without holy light, and knights without their steeds.

The second was a 21,000-strong [Macho legion] composed of various wrestlers, warriors, and bladers who had no shields.

The 17,000-strong [Shooting legion] was the third one and consisted of rangers and hunters.

The fourth, [Fireworks legion], had 6000 players. The composition included mages, warlocks, and other professional members of the magical art.

Initially, there were many players who liked mages. But after the start of the game, the number of mage players declined rapidly. The current mages were either hardcore players or rich players who spent a lot of money in the game.

The remaining 2,000 assassins were allowed to roam free…

Chu Liuqiu said, "Being strong or not, is a problem of the game version. It has only been a month since Version 1.0 has started. It is normal that you are all novices with inferior combat skills, damage capability, and armor. Even though you are cannon fodders, scream and shout to intimidate the enemy…"

The group of assassin players was furious. The magical professionals had their legion, so why had they been left out?

The assassin players were not placated…

Chu Liuqiu was at his wits' end. He had no choice but to place the assassins in the [Macho legion] and let them be cannon fodders.

It was a military fortress that was built a hundred years ago. Its height was 21 meters, and its walls were extremely thick.

As it was constructed long ago, the wall surface was covered with many layers of steel. The steel layers were an astonishing 30 centimeters thick, so it was difficult for the rocks of the catapults to damage the walls. If the catapults were to toss the rocks into the city, they would also be attacked by the catapults within the city.

Then the army came to a halt.

The soldiers quickly moved into their formations.

The players of Iron Nation stood on the ramparts and surveyed the black mass of soldiers. Their legs were quivering.

"Gosh, the Black Lava Nation has too many catapults. Our fortress has only less than 80 catapults. We can't win this long-range battle." A player complained.

There were many players in Iron Nation, but they could not possibly stand guard in a military fortress.

The three military fortresses had deployed 30,000 players to help the regular legions defend the city. When the players saw the Black Lava Nation's army, they panicked.

But then a group of soldiers arrived on the ramparts, and the players of Iron Nation could take a breath of relief.

The group included a legendary BOSS along with six epic BOSSES.

"They are using the catapults to attack us?" Wells, the legendary BOSS, frowned.

300 catapults of the Black Lava Nation were in action! Rocks were being tossed.

Flaming rocks flew down from the sky like a meteor shower raining down on the city, and brought with them the smell of death and destruction.

Pom, pom, pom!

The sounds of the smashing rocks were deafening while the quakes rippled through the entire fortress. It brought forth fear and panic.

Only the city walls were unscathed. When the rocks smashed on the buildings and shield-bearers, they were flattened and huge gaping holes were created.

The destruction of the catapults was unstoppable. Wells also dodged the rocks while he shouted, "Counter-attack!"

Immediately after that.

The players of Black Lava Nation saw huge rocks flying out from within the fortress.

William squinted his eyes and said, "Dawn Mercenary Team, prepare to charge!"

Chu Liuqiu was taken aback. He glanced at the tossed rock above his head. "Are we starting our suicidal charges?"

He lifted and waved the banner proudly as he roared, "Attack."

The war drums made deafening drum beats!

And the war horns blared!

War cries and sounds of killing filled the battlefield.

The players did not care about the tossed rocks. They could only hear the drum beats.

They charged excitedly like a steel current towards the military fortress. Many NPCs were stunned by their fearless demeanor.

William inhaled deeply as he tore off his long robe. Two Thunder Blades that were flowing with lightning appeared in his hands, and he charged forth.

And,

Whenever William took a step, it would be accompanied by a bolt of lightning that came from the clouds.

When he was close to the city walls, his body started emitting blinding lightning.

The players watched him charge up the ramparts…

Boom!

Numerous lightning descended from the heavens.

The surrounding enemies were struck dead and charred by lightning.
