Chapter 1386: 1297, Topic Discussion Chapter 1386: 1297, Topic Discussion On the large screen behind Legion Commander Dalanduo, Su Yu's two applications appeared in sequence.
The first application was for initiating the “Crime Prevention” reward; the second was for the “Civilization Ascension Plan” compensation.
Dalanduo gave everyone some time to read these two applications.
After most had finished reading, he spoke loudly: “Regarding these two applications, we can set two separate topics for discussion. The first topic, should we initiate the 'Crime Prevention' reward?”
Dalanduo paused briefly and continued, “My personal opinion is that we should initiate the reward, as the current security situation at the Hub is severe. Before a mature law enforcement system is established, it is necessary to adopt these extraordinary measures to solve some of the security issues.”
He turned to Vice Chairman Lawrence beside him: “Your Excellency Lawrence, what is your view on this topic?”
“Hmm…” Lawrence nodded seriously and thought for a moment.
Then he responded, “I also think we should hold such a reward. Combating crime aligns with the interests of the vast majority of residents at the Fige Hub. However, while organizing it, we must also strictly review to prevent any foul play.”
“That's reassuring,” Dalanduo seriously said. “Each team participating in the reward must record the entire process to ensure that these teams are genuinely preventing crime; moreover, we will rigorously check for any falsification in the recordings. If any are found, we will severely punish them to protect the interests of every participating team and the residents at large.”
In fact, Dalanduo did not mention that “recording by participating teams” and “strict verification of recordings” were all written in the application by Su Yu.
Initially, Su Yu's application was extremely detailed, clearly writing out the organization, supervision, benefits of the reward, and potential emergencies that could arise.
In other words, any decision-maker viewing this application would undoubtedly agree, as initiating the reward is entirely beneficial! (Unless the decision-makers are engaging in shady activities behind the scenes.)
Would this proposal now garner overwhelming approval from the majority of the council members?
Subsequently, the council discussed this proposal briefly.
The discussion didn't last long, just over ten minutes, and the topic moved from discussion to final voting.
It is worth mentioning that there was virtually no opposition.
Su Yu's application was essentially approved by the vast majority of council members, and from his observation, even the residents in the public discussion area of the Fige Hub agreed with this topic, showing no signs of opposition.
Therefore, it wasn't long before the voting results were announced.
According to the vote, the approval for the topic reached 94.8% of the total votes, with 5.2% abstaining, and no votes against.
On stage, Vice Chairman Lawrence formally announced, “I declare, today's Topic #7 has been passed!
We will initiate this reward soon, and the specific details of the reward will be discussed further before implementation.”
Inside the aircraft, Su Yu's eyebrows also relaxed.
He knew this application would pass easily unless the council members were all engaged in nefarious activities. Yet, he didn't expect it to be this easy. 94.8% approval! He hadn't anticipated such a high percentage!
Hopefully, the day to start the reward comes sooner rather than later!
After the topic ended, there was a brief inquiry segment.
From the floor of the council, a council member raised his hand to ask Dalanduo: “Your Excellency the Legion Commander, I have a question–why does this native powerhouse named 'Su Yu' want to initiate the reward? Do you understand his reasons?”
Dalanduo looked towards that council member.
This council member, named “Reitdoz,” was a Planet Level from a native civilization. He belonged to the Giant Rock Tribe, his body completely enveloped in thick rock, with only his eyes exposed.
Although the Giant Rock Tribe is generally honest and clumsy in action, this “Reitdoz” was an outlier in his tribe, skilled in social interactions and frequently making his presence felt in public occasions.
Dalanduo and he were also old acquaintances, as Reitdoz often asked various questions during meetings to mark his presence.
Dalanduo thought briefly, then shook his head, “I do not know why he wishes to initiate the reward.
Based on my speculation, he might have just arrived at the Fige Hub and encountered three severe crimes within just a few Feg Times, unable to tolerate this any longer; or perhaps he has a special talent in this area and wants to profit from his expertise.
However, that doesn't really matter.
Even if this is his specialty, after the reward is initiated, we will set conditions favorable to him as much as possible, as he deserves this compensation.”
“Does anyone else have questions? If not, let's move on to the next topic,” Vice Chairman Lawrence timely said.
The floor was quiet, with no further questions.
The discussion smoothly transitioned to today's eighth topic about Su Yu's “Civilization Ascension Plan Compensation.”
This was the final topic of the day.
Legion Commander Dalanduo had decided to leave this topic for the last for discussion because he knew it would definitely cause a controversy.
As expected, as soon as the discussion began, many council members stood up in opposition.
“I disagree with our Fige Hub paying the compensation,” a council member said from the floor:
“This is a project fully implemented by Hymn, our major Hub Planets have never interfered, and the compensation has always been paid by Hymn. Even though Hymn's core region was destroyed, it shouldn't be our responsibility to pay the compensation.”
This council member's words gained a lot of support from the floor, and soon someone helped to elaborate:
“Moreover, many of us have received compensation before. Simply calculating, even the first batch of compensation amounts to at least four or five hundred billion Holy Silver Coins, right? That's a significant figure!”
“We are now investing in building governance systems, spending money to consolidate defense from enemies, and providing support to the front lines… There are too many places where money is needed, and we must reduce unnecessary expenses.”
Besides these voices, there were also council members speaking for Su Yu:
“But have you thought about this native cultivator? His homeland was destroyed because of the 'Civilization Ascension Plan,' and he has received no compensation at all. What should he do?”
“This native cultivator's home planet is ultimately under the jurisdiction of our Fige Hub, even from a humanitarian perspective, we should provide him some compensation, and at least help rebuild their planet.”
Voices from both sides began to debate.
One side believed it wasn't the responsibility of the Fige Hub, especially during this financially tight period, to intervene in matters that shouldn't concern them;
The other side thought that it was important to help fulfill Hymn's responsibilities, as everyone is part of the Holy Silver Federation.
Moreover, since Su Yu is a part of the Fige Hub, it wasn't appropriate to entirely disregard his situation.
A serious discussion about the topic began.
