Chapter 982: Chapter 552: The Adults Have Water to Cultivate Land Chapter 982: Chapter 552: The Adults Have Water to Cultivate Land What can stimulate potential, besides a parent's stick, is a natural enemy.
Under the effects of the Ultimate Transformation Technique, using the Vertical Eye Bead as a medium, Ange transformed into a mist of blood–swirling with occasional serpent heads protruding from it–Serpent of Misfortune.
However, the expression on the serpent's head seemed a bit confused; it tilted its head and looked at Negris, apparently not understanding why it was being yelled at.
“And why not? Couldn't you have warned me first? You almost scared the pee out of me.” Negris angrily exclaimed.
“Oh.” Ange glanced between its legs and responded, “No pee.”
The 'land' stirred, and amid the terrified struggles of several Giant Dragons, it slowly began to move. Once it started moving, it was easy; as long as equal force continued to be applied in the same direction, it would keep accelerating until someone applied a force in the opposite direction to stop it.
Since it was moving, Ange undid the transformation and returned to his original form.
Just as he was about to put away the Vertical Eye Bead, Negris hastily said, “Wait, let me see.”
It was a bead resembling an eyeball, featuring a serpent-like vertical pupil, lifelike in its detail.
The bead was regurgitated by the Little Ghost after it had devoured the Serpent of Misfortune. Looking at it, Negris wondered, “This thing, can it transform you into the Serpent of Misfortune?”
From their previous research and analysis, the Serpent of Misfortune was a Divine Technique involving belief-based power; upon seeing it, Giant Dragons would only be able to produce serpents instead of Juvenile Dragons, much like the bewildering conception ability of the Harvest Goddess.
However, the Little Ghost indeed had the ability to devour Divine Techniques, swallowing anything whether it's the God of Misfortune or the Goddess of Fortune, even condensing them into crystal stones or beads like this one.
Meaning, Ange, using this Divine Technique-crafted bead, had transformed himself into the Serpent of Misfortune.
Previously, for transformation, Ange had required some physical materials, like scales and bones. Now, relying solely on a Divine Technique artifact also made it possible, which was quite unreasonable.
Diyali, fright-stricken, desperately surged forward, and the other Giant Dragons did the same. Boundless fear rendered them irrational, knowing only to charge forward, yet forgetting to unchain themselves, showing how terrifying the fear embedded in their bloodlines could be.
It wasn't until the 'land' moved forward and the menacing aura dissipated that Diyali gradually calmed down, recalling the actions of Ange and Negris before they left, and couldn't help feeling bewildered and suspicious.
When Ange and the others returned, Diyali eagerly asked, “Lord Dragon God, was that your disguised aura just now?”
Ange nodded.
All the Giant Dragons deflated immediately, casting reproachful looks, with Diyali even complaining, “Lord Dragon God, you should have told us earlier, we were nearly scared to death by you.”
Ange pointed at the slowly moving Divine Wood Continent and said, “If I had told you earlier, not afraid, couldn't pull.”
Diyali blinked blankly.
Negris quickly translated, “If I had told you earlier, you wouldn't have been scared, right? And if not scared, how could you tap into your potential and pull? It was all to scare you. Anyone scared to death? Speak up quickly, the Dragon God will revive you.”
The Giant Dragons looked at each other, puzzled by Negris's oddly phrased question. If they were dead, how could they speak up?
“No deaths, right? If not, get to work quickly. You lazy bunch, if you aren't scared, you just won't pull. You must have been slacking off,” Negris scolded, annoyed.
Stimulating potential was not the same as doubling the strength; these guys must have been slacking off earlier, otherwise a mere scare wouldn't have had such an effect and they pulled it straight away. Some of them wouldn't exert their full strength unless the whip actually hit their bodies.
As long as they started moving, by continuing to apply force, they could increase their moving speed, forcing all Giant Dragons to once again be chained and exert all their might as if pushing through childbirth, desperately pulling forward.
Negris, fearing someone might slack off again, patrolled while muttering, “Don't be lazy, anyone who dares to slack off, I will have the Dragon God summon the Serpent of Misfortune.” The very picture of a ruthless slave master.
The others' were scared stiff, anxious about being targeted, born knowledge within their bloodlines warned them, as seen by the Serpent of Misfortune meant offspring would turn into snakes; oh heavens, what kind of curse was this?
With the efforts of the Giant Dragons, complemented by the Elf Beans provided by Ange, all the dragons were like having injected chicken-blood, slowly dragging Divine Wood Continent deeper into the Void.
Twenty-odd hours later, two Magician's sky ladders stealthily arrived, yet could no longer find the trace of that huge 'land'.
Meanwhile, the Divine Wood Continent underwent a violent crash, as a colossal 'ice block' struck the continent.
“Kvada! Why are there ice blocks in the Void?” looking at the mountainous ice block, Negris was completely baffled.
“Of course there are, not just ice blocks but also Demon Crystals; if we're lucky enough to hit a Demon Crystal, we'd strike it rich,” Diyali said excitedly, then rushed towards it, and all the dragons along with Ange charged ecstatically.
“There are Demon Crystals too? Hey, that sounds familiar; I remember last time someone mentioned why the Sorcerer Alliance had so many Demon Crystals. They said, 'maybe it's mined from the sky.' Could there really be Demon Crystals in the Void?” Negris mumbled to himself.
Divine Wood Continent has no water source, and the various 'ice blocks' in the Void are the only source of water replenishment for the Dragons; thus, seeing such a large block made them extremely excited.
Ange was even more excited; having water meant being able to grow crops. The Divine Wood Continent, with its hundreds of kilometers in diameter, had a surface area
“Ah? Grow crops? No, no, no, that would be too wasteful; let's keep it for drinking,” Diyali spread her wings, trying to hide the ice mountain behind her.
But how could she hide it? The ice block that had fallen had a diameter of at least five or six hundred meters, much larger.
“It's so large we can't possibly finish it,” Ange remarked as he looked at the ice mountain; there were only about sixty-some dragons, and such a huge block of ice could last them for decades.
“If we can't finish it, we store it. There's no water cycle here; drink a little, lose a little, we can't waste it casually,” Diyali said anxiously, fearful that Ange might carelessly use the ice mountain for farming.
Ange tilted his head; couldn't he use it for farming? What a pity.
Divine Wood Continent spanned hundreds of kilometers in diameter, totaling thousands of square kilometers in surface area, easily able to open up millions of acres of farmland. Although it lacked sunlight, Ange had grown crops underground before, at worst he could use Luminous Moss.
However, the lack of sunlight was solvable, but a lack of water was not; besides the World Tree, Ange had never encountered a crop that could grow without water.
“Er… look, it seems we don't have to worry about the lack of water anymore.” Suddenly Negris pointed towards the front of the Void, where a massive ice block, possibly seventy or eighty kilometers in length and width, was slowly drifting past the Divine Wood Continent.
The dragons were thrilled, rapidly rushing towards it. Such a large block of ice, once melted, could cover the Divine Wood Continent with a sea, and thereafter, the dragons would never have to fear a water shortage again.
Pushing with their shoulders and hands, they moved the ice block onto Divine Wood Continent, and after a violent collision, the ice block shattered into several large chunks, scattering around.
“That's great, now we don't have to worry about water anymore, and we can drink freely, take baths whenever we like, and Lord Dragon God, you can also have water to farm with… uh, guys, come here, there seems to be a person inside.”
