Chapter 975: Chapter 545: Let's See If We Can Raise It to Be Big Chapter 975: Chapter 545: Let's See If We Can Raise It to Be Big “`
A group of giant dragons stopped digging for worms and all gathered around, salivating over a pile of vegetables, especially after the giant vegetables were taken out, their tender green color so lush and inviting that drool started dripping from their mouths.
If Sava, the pharmacist, were here, he would surely be excited to collect this dragon saliva, but Negris only felt disgusted and said irritably, “Stop drooling all over me, all your saliva is dripping on my head. With so much saliva, I'll have you planting Dragon Saliva Grass later.”
He still resented being tricked by a goblin merchant into drooling for fifty years when he was younger, and what irked him even more was that although the grass did grow, the goblin merchant had died long ago, Kvada.
This grumpy tone sounded just like the elders in their clan, and all the giant dragons couldn't help but shrink their heads and slurp back their drool.
One by one, little fat lambs were taken out. Ange's Dimensional Space could breed things, and he had raised a bunch of little fat lambs there, mainly as food for Negris, and now they were all offered up.
After plucking and cleaning the lambs, they were skewered, ready for a barbecue. The Red Dragon that first prepared the spits for them came forward, ready to use its fiery breath for barbecuing.
Any ordinary Fire Wizard would be ecstatic, barbecuing with the breath of a Red Dragon–food cooked this way would be full of fire elements, a rare and nourishing delicacy. Eating a few pieces would mean waking up feeling hot and revitalized.
But Negris only showed disdain, pushing the Red Dragon's big head away, “Don't spray it with saliva, don't you have any coal or something like that to use instead?”
Diyali, munching on a huge lettuce leaf and dripping with juice, shook her head, “We don't dare to burn things regularly because there isn't much air here, but today we're in high spirits, quick, bring some coal up for the barbecue to entertain our distinguished guests.”
Soon, some coal blocks with a silvery-white surface, looking like frost, were brought out. Just as they were about to be laid on the ground, Ange stopped them.
The God of Life and Little Sapling both emerged from his shoulder and began inspecting the coal blocks curiously.
Negris understood at a glance that this was something special. If it could catch the attention of the God of Life and Little Sapling, he quickly asked, “Where did these coal blocks come from? Do we have many of them? Take us to see, and let's use Demon Crystals for the barbecue instead.”
He pulled out a pile of Demon Crystals and carelessly stacked them on the ground.
Diyali led everyone to a passageway at the edge of the space, and they soon saw some dark coal blocks. They were all in one piece, and once broken, a frosted gloss would appear, very beautiful to look at.
Negris understood at once, “It seems that apart from a part of it being petrified, some have become carbonized. Old tree, can you recognize what tree this is?”
“I don't know,” said the God of Life, shaking his head.
“It's incredible that a tree can grow so big. I wonder how it grew. It's a pity that it died this way. Old tree, can you grow this big?” Negris asked curiously.
The Old Tree thought for a moment and shook its head, “I'm too old now; it's too late to change the life form. I can't grow that big anymore, but Seedling can.”
Negris looked at the dazed Little Sapling, somewhat disbelieving, “This little thing can grow that big?”
The Old Tree said irritably, “Are you mistaken about Seedling? It looks like this because it's in a symbiosis with Ange. All the plants that Ange has grown can actually be considered as its branches. Its current size is even greater in mass than my original body.”
Negris's eyes widened in shock, “All?”
The Old Tree nodded.
“All? Including the plants on the Master Plane, the Light Sea Plane, and here?” Negris repeated in disbelief.
The Old Tree nodded again.
Kvada, Negris was stunned. If all the crops planted by Ange could be considered branches of the Little Sapling, then the mass of the Little Sapling really might be greater than that of the Old Tree.
“`
Ange's annual crop yield, with just the edible parts alone, amounts to tens of millions of tons, but there's much more to crops than just the parts that can be eaten. The weight of the stems, stalks, roots, and leaves outnumber the edible parts by a large multiple, and they simply can't be compared with that of a World Tree.
Looking at it this way, I really underestimated Little Sapling. Goodness, “How did it do that? Can you do it? Can't you find someone to live in symbiosis with?” Ange asked in amazement.
“It was raised by Ange, naturally. This isn't like growing cabbages. What's the use of just finding someone at random? Without Ange's Planting God Statue, Seedling wouldn't be able to harness the power of those crops, and symbiosis would be pointless,” the God of Life explained.
Negris suddenly understood, “So what you mean is, the key to symbiosis isn't Little Sapling, but Ange? Because Ange has the Planting God Statue, Little Sapling is able to utilize the power of the crops Ange grows?”
The old tree nodded.
“Good heavens, Little Seedling is so incredible. What can it do?” exclaimed Negris excitedly. No wonder the old tree had always said that Little Sapling was amazing, it truly was.
Doesn't that mean Ange now owns a super giant tree that rivals the God of Life? Even in this world, Little Sapling's power could be greater than that of the God of Life, since the old tree's main body isn't here.
“I don't know either, you should ask Seedling yourself. This form of living in symbiosis is also a first for me,” said the old tree.
Negris retorted, “More like a first for everything. You hadn't even seen a World Tree until you met us. If we hadn't rescued you, you'd have gone extinct.”
Then, turning to Little Sapling, Negris asked, “Seedling, what do you know how to do?”
Little Sapling seemed a bit confused until Ange asked it, and then it understood and promptly waved its True Leaf, sending out an enthusiastic message: Grow strong–grow–grow strong–grow–
Then its True Leaf rapidly grew, twisted into a fist, and punched Negris right in the eye socket.
“Ow!” Little Angel was thrilled, hopping over and raising its tiny hand in front of Little Sapling.
Little Sapling swung its hand, fist bumping.
Negris was furious, barking at Little Angel, “Ow! It must be you who's been a bad influence on Little Tree.”
Little Angel stuck out its tongue at Negris and then punched him in the other eye socket before scampering away swiftly.
Ange, not bothering with their playful scuffle, looked around and picked up one of the densest lumps of coal.
Coal, in effect, is just a solidified form of burnable organic rock. Some coal lumps are even harder than stone, but the piece Ange picked up was dense like a metal.
Some jewelers like to show off their skills by cutting gems with coal. In fact, it's quite a sight to behold.
Of course, Ange was not about to cut gems but instead soaked the coal in Insect Ash Liquid, activating the Instant Death Halo.
The dusky piece of coal slowly unfurled before their eyes, and slowly, the blackness faded, revealing a wooden hue.
Ange quickly transferred it to the Essence Liquid, and soon a bud sprouted from the woody surface.
Little Sapling eagerly waved its True Leaf: Grow strong–grow–grow–
The bud grew into a twenty-centimeter-tall sapling, then stopped growing. The old tree reached out, grafting it onto itself, “Let me try and see if I can raise it to full size.”
