Chapter 954: Chapter 526: Nobody Compete with Me Chapter 954: Chapter 526: Nobody Compete with Me The Sorcerer's Ladder had no choice but to ascend once again, cursing furiously.
The distance was too great to make out the curses, but the Dragon Sorcerers clearly heard them, yet showed no reaction, continuing to circle around. If the ladder rose, they would give way, if it descended, they would press closer, and if the ladder released airships, they would be right in their trap, pouncing immediately.
It was evident that landing safely amidst the interference of the Dragon Sorcerers was impossible; not even one airship could descend.
Of course, if one disregarded the casualties, a swarm of airships could certainly manage to land some, but it wasn't necessary.
Aesani breathed a sigh of relief, muttering to herself, “That's good, that's good, as long as no fight breaks out, as long as there's no fight, they won't deduct my money. But without the Sorcerer Alliance, the trade fair is likely to lose money, right? Hopefully, the boss won't go bankrupt.”
Curious, Negris asked, “Who is hosting this trade fair? Was the Sorcerer Alliance invited? To be able to invite the Sorcerer Alliance, it must be a considerable power, right? Could they go bankrupt so easily?”
Aesani shrugged, “It's a Commerce Guild I've never heard of before, probably not that big, called the Silver Chamber of Commerce, run by a goblin…”
Before she could finish, Negris interrupted with a snort, “The Silver Chamber of Commerce? A goblin? What are the odds?”
Following Aesani's lead, the group arrived at the location of the trade fair, indeed seeing Lord Silver Coin with a gloomy face, surrounded by a crowd, looking up at the entanglement in the sky.
Just as they were about to approach, two swordsmen warily blocked Ange and the rest, saying, “Sorry, the entrance is over there, please head that way.”
Negris's eyes twinkled with mischief, and with a smirk, he said, “No, I see a goblin that owes me money, I'm here to collect the debt.” He said this while pointing towards where Lord Silver Coin was standing, the only goblin in that direction.
The two swordsmen sized up Negris and finally laid their eyes on the pet tag around its neck, frowning, they said, “Pets should be left at the stables beside, no pets are allowed in the trade fair.”
Luther burst into laughter, holding back the Little Yellow Dragon ready to rampage, and shouted with Battle Qi harnessed, “Lord Silver Coin, over here, here!”
Battle Qi carried Luther's voice smoothly to the location of Lord Silver Coin, but elsewhere, only a faint echo could be heard.
This advanced technique of voice transmission contained by Battle Qi amazed the two swordsmen, but they still responsibly drew their swords, intending to stop Luther's disruptive action. However, their swords had barely been drawn when Luther tapped them twice, Battle Qi forcing the swords back into their sheaths.
“Battle Qi projection, Sword Saint?!” The two swordsmen were shocked and lost their color.
Over at Lord Silver Coin's position, hearing the shout, he turned around and his eyes lit up with joy, quickly trotting over and saying, “My lord, how come you are here?”
After soothing the two dedicated swordsmen, Lord Silver Coin welcomed everyone into the fair.
“Just passing by, what are you doing here? Are you running the trade fair?” Negris asked.
Among Ange's group, Anthony and Lord Silver Coin were the ones with 'legitimate' jobs, busy beyond measure, so it was common to not see them around, and everyone was used to it, not searching for them, because if there was trouble, they would call for help.
“Yes, in my dealings with the Sorcerer Alliance, I discovered they had a lot of great stuff. Like their steel, steel that is smelted in the void, which can easily control the proportion of elements, making it hard or soft as desired, of very high quality.”
“Their flying cars and airships outperform those on the ground by a lot, with much better acceleration — a hundred kilometers in just over ten seconds. A little modification and they can be sold as luxury flying vehicles.”
“So I discussed it with them and decided to organize a trade fair, to promote some suitable products to everyone, and also to purchase some stuff they could use. Sadly, it's probably not going to happen now.” Lord Silver Coin said regretfully.
Negris asked schadenfreude-laden, “So, are you going to go bankrupt?”
“Bankrupt? Why would I go bankrupt?” Lord Silver Coin asked, puzzled.
“She said so.” Negris pointed to Aesani.
Aesani gave a sheepish smile, shrinking her neck and greeting them; as she was invited by the city, she had not met the organizers of the trade fair. If she had known that the goblin from the Silver Chamber of Commerce was Lord Silver Coin, she wouldn't have said so much.
Lord Silver Coin eyed her suspiciously for a moment and then asked hesitantly, “Aesani?”
Lord Silver Coin had seen Aesani before; he was there when she had her rebirth, watching her regain her youth.
However, how could a sixteen or seventeen-year-old body, containing a soul of over a hundred and thirty years old, be easily recognized unless she dressed up? As soon as she put on clothes, she would instantly become unrecognizable to many people who did not know her well.
The current Aesani, dressed like a mature woman in her thirties, from the color of her clothes, the style of her jewelry, to her hairstyle and demeanor, did not resemble a teenage girl at all, so it was only natural for Lord Silver Coin to take several glances before recognizing her.
After figuring out Aesani's situation, Lord Silver Coin immediately said, “What a coincidence, you're now working for the municipal government? You're underemployed, underemployed. Would you like to join the Silver Chamber of Commerce? The terms are generous, and in a hundred years, if you want to rebirth again, you have priority.”
When she heard the offer, Aesani's instinct was to refuse. If she wanted to look for a job, she could choose from many attractive offers. An Arcane Magician, only sixteen years old, she hadn't dare to go to the Magician's Guild to take the exam; she just casually demonstrated the level of a Great Magician and got into the municipal government, even aging her appearance deliberately.
But after hearing the last sentence, Aesani instantly changed her mind, “No problem, Lord Silver Coin, I'll go resign right now,” and off she ran.
The opportunity for priority rebirth was far more important than any compensation. Lord Silver Coin didn't lose out either, spending money to recruit an Arcane Magician, which was something money couldn't normally buy on any plane. At that level, magicians could make money all too easily.
A successful deal. Lord Silver Coin rubbed his hands together in glee and returned to the previous issue: “How could I be at a loss? You're insulting me. I've signed a contract with the Sorcerer Alliance; there are stipulations for this kind of situation. If they can't attend the fair on time, they must compensate me. It's not a loss; it's just that I won't profit as much as I would have if the fair were successful.”
Speaking of this, something else seemed to cross Lord Silver Coin's mind, “Right, I've set up a special corner at the trade fair for a unique seed competition, planning to collect some exotic seeds for the lord. I was thinking of gathering them first before presenting them to you, but now that you're here, do you want to go take a look now?”
This had become a habit of Lord Silver Coin's; when he arrived at a new place, he would collect local characteristic seeds. If he couldn't find anything new, he would think of new methods.
The competition was such a new method. It was like an agricultural seed fair, selecting a series of good and new seeds, awarding high prize money. Naturally, people would search the world for seeds, or even cultivate them themselves. As long as the numbers grew, he could always collect the seeds that Ange liked.
Negris looked at him with annoyance, “Now that you've mentioned it, how can we not go? Can Ange even move his legs?”
Sure enough, Ange, who had appeared listless from being unable to reach into space to tend to his plants along the way, was now wide-eyed with eagerness, practically chomping at the bit; if they didn't set off soon, he would start to nag.
The group, led by Lord Silver Coin, entered a corner of the venue. As they approached, they heard someone shouting, “Tree rice, tree rice! Have you ever seen grain growing on trees? Have you? This year's champion of exotic seeds, no one better compete with me for it!”
