Chapter 1417: Chapter 978: I Heard They Caught a Wild Mourning Entity
Mourning Undead Soul Ziora did indeed escape from the place where Mourning Undead Souls were created.
“There is a very strange space there, like the interior of a huge sphere. Sunlight is projected from the center to the surroundings, as if there's a sun there, but in fact, there is no sun, only sunlight shining. The inner walls have oceans, lands, mountains, and hills, no different from a Master Plane.”
Anthony and Negriss glanced at each other: “Farm Barrier?”
“I was originally the eldest son of the Roland Clan. Due to an accident resulting in death, by the time I awoke again, I had turned into a zombie.”
At this point, Anthony suddenly interrupted, “A zombie or a Witch? We call the intelligent ones Witches, and the mindless ones zombies. Did you have intelligence at that time or not?”
“Witch, I was intelligent at the time. Is this how you all in the Friel Empire refer to it? We don't; we call the intelligent ones smart zombies,” Ziora responded.
Anthony nodded and made a gesture inviting him to continue.
Ziora continued, “Later, I lived with my family for a while, and somehow the news was leaked. I was captured by some people. They put me in a kind of bag, and I couldn't see the outside. When they finally let me out, I was inside that sphere.”
“A bag? What kind of bag? They put you in a bag and you couldn't see outside?” Anthony and Negriss exchanged glances.
Negriss asked, “Is it like this?” while pulling out a Holy Shroud and wrapping Ziora in it.
“Yes, yes, yes, that's the feeling. It blocks my Soul Perception. Once it's on, I can't see anything. You don't know, I have claustrophobia. Going into narrow, dark places makes me nervous. I was almost scared to death at that time,” Ziora lamented.
This is even more terrifying than being in a box. When moving inside a box, at least you can feel the movement; being wrapped in a Holy Shroud, you really can't sense anything, not even movement, it's no different than being buried alive.
Anthony said softly, “It seems these people have a way to block the soul; it's not necessarily with a Holy Shroud.”
Ziora continued, “I lived there in the Sphere World for a long time. Every day, strong winds would sweep across the whole world. This wind is strange – it can blow us to death if it hits our whole body, but if it only touches a small part of the body, it can strengthen the soul. Every few days, it would also bring black rain…”
At this point, even Ange couldn't help but look up at him, while Negriss and Anthony looked at each other, simultaneously thinking of the same term–Resting Wind.
“And it's a very intense Resting Wind, enough to form Liquid of Rest,” Anthony murmured softly.
“But Liquid of Rest isn't suddenly key to Mourning; how do they mass-produce Mourning Souls?” Negriss whispered.
Ziora talked a lot about the situation in the Sphere World, but none seemed to be the breakthrough for Mourning.
Anthony couldn't help muttering, “The key to breaking through Mourning should be the Soul Network. Have they not found the key and are just trying to succeed through sheer numbers? Tossing a pile of Undead into an environment rich with the breath of death and just hoping for luck? Impossible, right?”
“How could that be possible? If it was that easy, Ange would have already soaked tens of thousands of Undead in Liquid of Rest every day,” Negriss remarked.
Ange suddenly nodded, “Tried it, didn't work.”
“Pff, you really soaked tens of thousands of Undead?” Negriss felt like he could spew blood.
Ange nodded again, “Dimensional Space.”
Negris immediately understood: although Ange had experienced it, he didn't know. The only possibility was tens of thousands of years ago before the Dimensional Space was formed. Back then, Little Bone had not yet sought after the Yellow Mud Book, and it was still in the Void arguing with the Old Immortal, Anthony.
It seems that during the years when the Dimensional Space was forming, Ange had already tried different methods, and given Ange's habits, if he tried one method, he definitely would have tried others for comparison.
Given his habit of frequently making tens of thousands of comparisons, perhaps he had tried every possible method, but still failed in the end.
“Is there anything else?” asked Anthony.
“Yes, learn combat skills, train daily, perform Soul Link daily, meditate collectively, take turns being the guide, hold prayer meetings, and swear oaths to the Great Ruler.” Ziora mentioned some special places, but it sounded like the routine of the Church, which was unlikely to be the key to breaking through the Mourning Soul.
Unable to figure it out, Anthony decided to skip this for now and asked, “Then how did you escape?”
“After I successfully broke through Mourning, I was able to leave the Sphere World and possess my Body of Mourning. But somehow, after I was wrapped in a sack, there was no activity for a long time. I quietly opened the sack and found I had already left the Sphere World.”
“It was very quiet outside, so I just made a ruthless decision, abandoned my body, let my soul leave the body, and then tied up the sack. Only my soul escaped, running into a Flying vehicle transporting supplies and teleported away,” explained Ziora.
Negris clapped his waist: “I understand now. Amade and the others have no memories of the Sphere World. They were reborn into this Body of Mourning using the Life Box after being transferred.”
Anthony immediately understood: “That means, he was originally bound in a sack to be burned alive, so that he would not retain any memories of the Sphere World after rebirth. But he abandoned his body and his soul escaped. The others probably burned him later, not knowing his soul had escaped.”
“Right, can a body without a soul be reborn with the Life Box?” Negris asked.
“No, because his soul didn't die, but that was probably already seven or eight days later. By the time they realized the Life Box didn't trigger rebirth, he was already long gone.”
Anthony continued with some doubt, “However, if that's the case, then everything in the Sphere World becomes meaningless. If memories are erased and rebirth takes place, then all he learned in the Sphere World is useless, and even the soul is replaced, then there's no need to break through the Mourning Soul.”
Negris responded, “It can't be meaningless. If they didn't use the Life Box for rebirth but, like you, directly erased memories and then placed the heart into the Life Box within the Mourning Body?”
Anthony's eyes brightened: “I'll have Durken try that and see if we can create Mourning Undead Soldiers.”
Having asked almost everything he wanted to, Anthony then spoke, “So you were originally cultivated for Mourning Undead Soldiers, no wonder you prefer close combat and are so bad at magic. Would you be interested in being reborn as a Black Warrior?”
Ziora, not knowing what a Black Warrior was but after hearing Anthony's explanation, quickly shook his head, “Hide and seek is not my style.”
The nature of Black Warriors, destined to be more suitable for stealth and assassination, is not everyone's preference, like Locke Feiti, Harvey, etc., who would rather be straightforward, not willing to hide in ditches and ambush others.
“Is there not another Body of Mourning? Just give it to him,” said Negris.
Amade's two Mourning Undead Soldiers had their souls snatched by the Monarch, and their bodies too, of which one was used to revive Durken, leaving one remaining. With their souls greatly weakened, they surely couldn't drive the Body of Mourning, conveniently for Ziora to use.
Ziora was confused, thinking he heard wrong, “You have a Body of Mourning?”
“Yes, we captured two Mourning Undead Soldiers, snatched their souls and bodies, used one and still have one left,” Negris said casually.
Ziora was stunned for a long moment, then suddenly asked, “Who are you guys exactly?”
“We are the shadows from the dark and abyss…” After repeating that very long title once, Negris asked, “By the way, what rank is your Violet Mercenary Group? Do you know the Heisuo Mercenaries? I heard they caught a wild Mourning Skeleton.”
