Chapter 1408: Chapter 969: Are You Selling Us Fake Goods? Chapter 1408: Chapter 969: Are You Selling Us Fake Goods? Anthony opened his eyes, looking confusedly in front of him. The first thing he saw was Ange, and with some hesitation, he blinked and asked, “My lord?”
Ange nodded.
“This…” Anthony paused and turned his head, spotting a familiar figure. Then suddenly, as if snapping out of a dream back into reality, he exclaimed, “I'm not dreaming, Lord Nage? You…you've lost weight?”
Negris had a dark line cross his forehead, “Are you guys running out of original lines or what? Why does everyone say the same thing?”
“You guys? Who else is here besides me?” As he spoke, Anthony's gaze shifted to the Monarch and hesitantly called out, “Your Majesty?”
The Monarch too nodded, then said, “I'm going to sleep now, it's too noisy. I'll find another spot.”
With that, he whizzed off the airship, sprinting all the way and crashing into a distant mountainside, creating a large hole. The falling rocks and dust buried both the Monarch and the hole.
“This, what's with His Majesty?” Anthony asked, puzzled.
Negris replied irritably, “He ate too much, he's so stuffed he can't sleep. Just leave him alone.”
“Ate too much? What did His Majesty eat?” As Anthony spoke, he became more and more articulate, seemingly adapting to the sudden change to a new environment.
“He consumed two Mourning Souls and got stuffed, barely fell asleep before being woken up by Little Ghost and Ange, so this time he's looking for a quieter place,” Negris explained.
“Pff… Mourning Souls? Two of them? Lord Nage, what's happened? Where is this place? Is the situation dire?” Anthony asked.
Ever since the establishment of the Soul Network, the Monarch had stopped consuming others' souls. Now he even consumed Mourning Souls–and two of them at that. How critical must the situation be?
Negris quickly explained the situation.
“Durken and silver coin are also here? Silver coin? You mean you're a silver coin? I knew it's been a while since I heard from you; you projected yourself here. Oh my, this is a whole new world, sounds so fun, why didn't you call me sooner?” Anthony couldn't help but complain to the silver coin.
Silver coin spread his hands, and Negris said, “We wanted to call you earlier, but it wasn't possible. How did you get here anyway?”
Anthony recalled, “I think I heard Little Ghost calling out 'ow ow ow,' I couldn't understand what it was shouting, so I just projected my thoughts towards it, and then I ended up here.”
“That makes sense. You needed the support from Little Ghost to get here. This place is too far from the Master Plane. Ange was just a projection and didn't have enough power to support your projection,” Negris analyzed.
This left Anthony a bit perplexed, “If my lord can't manage, how come Little Ghost can?”
Negris replied impatiently, “Because that silly child came here on its own, just a billion four hundred million kilometers away from here. Due to its arrival, the entire Friel Empire and Divine Light Alliance have been alerted, and everyone is gearing up to capture it.”
Anthony narrowed his eyes, saying with a smile, “Sounds like quite the grand operation. What's the deal with this Friel Empire and Divine Light Alliance? They dare to capture our God of Light?”
Negris went on to give an explanation.
Anthony nodded, “I understand now. Things are too complicated. My lord couldn't farm in peace, so you sent for me to handle this messy situation, so you can focus on farming.”
Negris nearly slipped and fell, “Kvada, is that what I said!”
Negris's words mattered not, for Ange had been nodding non-stop, and silver coin also quietly gave a thumbs up, truly a millennium-old God Stick indeed, always grasping the crux of the matter.
“Let's go, silver coin, fill me in on the overall situation–manpower, supplies, circumstances, and more, the more detailed the better. Lord, you just focus on farming.” Anthony dragged silver coin away.
Finally able to peacefully farm, Ange felt all his joints relax, and cheerfully scampered back to water and fertilize.
In fact, Ange had been very cooperative. To help the Monarch quickly regain strength, Ange diligently planted Deadman's Fruits, fattening the Monarch's soul. Now, having devoured only two Mourning Souls, it was highly possible to break through the bottleneck.
If it were so easy for the Black Crystal Soul to make a breakthrough, the Master Plane wouldn't have only one Monarch with Black Crystal.
But even though Ange was very cooperative, he still found it all so troublesome, because Negris was not a competent ruler–randomly hammering away at things without a plan, Ange had no idea what it intended to do.
Of course, Negris had no clue what to do either.
Now that Anthony was here, not only did Ange feel relieved, Negris too was at ease.
The easy days lasted a day before Anthony returned the next day with a rather serious tone, “Lord, could we let Little Ghost keep glowing?”
Ange cocked his head, and Negris asked, “Why? Wouldn't everyone see it then? What if they tried to capture it?”
“Do you remember the original Nightmare Saya? It was close to the Master Plane, but then suddenly vanished. What was our reaction?” Anthony inquired.
Negris replied, “We searched the whole world for it?”
“Right, the Friel Empire and the Divine Light Alliance would mobilize all their forces to scour the world for it, and at that time, we would face the full mobilization of the Divine Light Alliance and the Friel Empire. Perhaps even the powers far from here would start acting,” Anthony explained.
Negris shivered at the thought. Indeed, when Nightmare Saya disappeared, Anthony did mobilize the entire Plane, searching the streets for any trace of it.
But Nightmare Saya had a weakness; it needed a large amount of fear to feed on, or it couldn't grow strong. So as long as they kept watch and prevented it from causing major disasters, the ones where an entire city's population died, they needn't fear its growth.
Nightmare Saya was easy to guard against, but no one knew if Little Ghost was as manageable. If it truly vanished, then everyone would surely be on alert, and those not yet mobilized would rapidly spring into action.
“But if Little Ghost glows, others will know its location. What if they enter the Boundless Space Hole to intercept it?” Negris questioned. Mobilization would be pointless without locating Little Ghost.
“We can control when it doesn't glow, but we can't control how many people they will mobilize. According to intelligence from those few youngsters, the Divine Light Alliance has already assembled a team of Mourning Undead Soldiers to intercept Little Ghost. The original plan was for each family to contribute four Mourning Undead Soldiers, twenty-four in total from six families. If they feel it's not safe and deploy all the Undead Soldiers, that number goes to seventy-two. Oh, Your Majesty has devoured two, so only seventy Lord of Mourning remain,” Anthony elaborated.
Negris immediately felt his scalp tingle; without counting, you'd never know, but once you do, it's frightening–seventy Lords of Mourning?
“Moreover, regarding Little Ghost's arrival, we're not necessarily facing only enemies but also potential allies. If you were the Friel Queen, would you be more worried about a Void Fortress drifting out of the Boundless Space Hole, or the Divine Light Alliance that just invaded and might soon ally with six families to invade again?” Anthony questioned.
“What do you mean? Of course, I'd fear Little Ghost. The Divine Light Alliance is a known entity, but Little Ghost is unknown. What if it's a natural enemy like Nightmare Saya or Serpent of Misfortune? We'd certainly unite against the external threat,” Negris argued.
Anthony smiled slightly, “This is the time when we should prove that what's inside the Void Fortress isn't a natural enemy, but a group of distant travelers. We are not enemies of the Friel Empire; we can totally become allies, and together fight against the wicked Divine Light Alliance. Why don't we contact the Friel Empire and ask how their tree varieties are doing, and if they need any post-sale service?”
silver coin was in charge of communication, and this time it was also silver coin reaching out. They didn't expect a response so quickly:
“Duke of Divine Light, we were just looking for you. Did you sell us counterfeit goods? Why can't any of the tree species reproduce? Whether through breeding or cuttings, none survive. I paid for a complete cultivation method, not just a few barren trees.”
