Chapter 1346: Chapter 907: This is the Good Thing You Mentioned Chapter 1346: Chapter 907: This is the Good Thing You Mentioned With an abundance of helping hands, Anthony's plan immediately picked up speed. In just a few days, all sorts of rumors about the Starburst Array began to spread–tales of impending doomsday, that the Array would soon be destroyed and everyone should flee at once.
Cabrela was fuming with rage, “Who is it? Who's spreading these rumors everywhere? Have they caught the person responsible for this?”
Radiad shook his head, “No, we caught dozens, but none of them were the source. They've all just heard it through the grapevine, and as for who they heard it from, even they aren't clear.”
“Damn it, it seems to be the work of an experienced organization. Who could it be?” Cabrela wondered, with a list of suspects flashing through his mind.
Radiad hesitatingly said, “Could it be connected to the last encounter with the Divine Soul?”
“What Divine Soul are you talking about? Don't scare yourself. It's all fake. There are no such things as gods–just some super-powerful beings playing tricks, pretending to be gods. You must believe in the truth, believe in the laws of the world, believe in the regularity of the Void's operation.” Cabrela criticized discontentedly.
Radiad snorted disdainfully, “Stop hypnotizing yourself. If this world had no gods, then how could the land beneath us be a flat plateau? Or have varying elevations, and such a perfect cycle of humidity and rain? Besides, every time you gaze at the Sun, what does your Eye of Truth see?”
“I… I… I…” Cabrela stuttered, unable to retaliate.
The notion that the world had no gods was a lie that could only fool commoners and low-level magicians and wizards. Anyone who reached their level could clearly sense the absurdity of the entire world.
For instance, why does the flat land have a Sunlit side, bathed in sunlight, and a Dark side, that is eternally shrouded in darkness? But then, why does the Sunlit side experience both sunrise and sunset, while the Dark side remains perpetually dark? What's the principle behind that?
Does the Sun turn off like a Magic Lamp after making a half turn around the Sunlit side, reaching the Dark side as if it has a switch? If it truly has a switch, doesn't that prove even more the existence of gods?
Or take the terrain, with its mountains, canyons, plains, lakes, rivers, oceans, and islands–each shaped as if delicately arranged by an invisible hand.
This has led to many regions being abundantly conducive to agriculture, with the land's bounty capable of sustaining vast populations, and various landscapes naturally mitigating different natural disasters, enabling easier proliferation of life.
Every time they saw all this, they deeply suspected that this world was meticulously designed and built by an omnipotent deity.
Moreover, Cabrela had the Eye of Truth. Every time he looked at the Sun, he would shiver involuntarily. But when asked what he saw, he wouldn't say; probably because he saw the most genuine aspect of the world–too harsh a reality for others to accept, perhaps.
Radiad, tired of the quarrel, changed the subject, “That Divine Soul we encountered last time felt somewhat familiar, but I just can't remember where I've seen it before.”
After musing for a while, Cabrela said, “No matter who the other party is, we must not let the rumors continue. We have to find the source. Radiad, deploy your creation.”
“Alright, but what if it's not just a rumor?” Radiad asked.
“Do you want to kill me with frustration? If it's not a rumor, we might as well die together. I will absolutely not abandon the Starburst Array. Anyone who dares target it, I will blast them,” Cabrela declared, infuriated.
Radiad shrugged, his body radiating a divine light, transforming into a bird that began to ascend gracefully.
It must be said that creating a Divine Soul by artificial means truly warranted Radiad the title of Godmaking Sorcerer. However, this Divine Soul was so weak, it had no combat power at all.
But a Divine Soul didn't necessarily need combat power; possessing Divine Techniques was enough. For example, this bird had terrifyingly sharp hearing, able to detect all sounds within a thousand-meter radius, discern individual noises, and follow specific sound trails.
Radiad, through the Divine Soul, listened for a while but heard nothing significant, so he decided to move to the marketplace where rumors were most rampant.
Radiad and Cabrela didn't call for anyone else, fearing too many people might alert the enemy. Just the two of them, they quietly made their way to the central market of the Array.
Just as he arrived at the market, Radiad stopped in his tracks and began to listen intently.
“Is spreading such rumors really effective? Why not directly release the fog?”
“Directly releasing the fog is uncontrollable and too risky. Let's spread rumors for a while first, so everyone is psychologically prepared. When the fog is released, everyone will immediately associate it with the end of days and naturally think of fleeing.”
“The most terrifying part of a disaster isn't the disaster itself, but the chaos caused by the fear of the unknown. I get it, the rumors are to turn the unknown into the known, so when it really happens, people won't panic.”
“That's right, you've seen through my intentions with one look; you've improved.”
“Pah, look who I am. But is the fog effective? Have you tested it?”
“Uh, it is effective, but maybe a bit too effective. I have a bit of a headache deciding whether or not to use it.”
“Why? Isn't being effective a good thing? How can it be too effective?”
“It's just too effective. When thrown, everyone gets so itchy they strip off their clothes. A bunch of people running madly naked is too horrifying a sight, I can't bear to think about it.”
“Snort–when the time comes, we can just cover the kids' eyes. So, what are we doing here now?”
“You ask Shamara, she's the one who told us to stake out here, saying something good was going to happen.”
That's how Radiad, while listening, made his way over and found himself behind a wall, with those two voices just beyond it.
He turned his head to look at Cabrela and nodded.
Cabrela immediately pulled out an alchemical weapon from behind. Originally just a barrel, once it snapped onto his wrist, it expanded into a Magic Crystal Cannon larger and wider than his body.
With the Eye of Truth and the Magic Crystal Cannon, his aim was spot on.
Fearful the enemy might escape, Cabrela didn't plan to go back for reinforcements. After getting ready, he nodded to Radiad to signal he was prepared.
Radiad, merging with his Divine Soul, climbed up to the top of the wall and, from his elevated position, said, “So it's you guys… you're the ones spreading the rumors around, huh? Quite bold of you… uh, your group is really weird.”
Radiad paused twice, purely out of shock. In the corner crouched a Bronze Dragon, but Radiad could tell it wasn't really a Bronze Dragon by its lack of a heartbeat.
Next to it was a man, but under the coarse robe was an Archbishop's robe worn incorrectly.
Beside him was a Paladin, his shoulders shrugging, but also without a heartbeat.
Next to him was someone with the aura of a Saintess, yet clad in Soul Armor.
Then there was a cat squatting on the head of a horse, which was sprawled on the ground with an utterly desolate expression.
The entire group was so odd, and even weirder was the way they squatted in the corner without any decorum, like a bunch of old farmers waiting for dinner.
Anthony looked up and saw Radiad, his expression first one of shock, “Shamara, is this the good thing you were talking about?”
Then, as if a thought struck him, his shock turned to joy, and the interrogative turned declarative, “This is the good thing you were talking about.”
