Chapter 1271: Chapter 834 Is that it? Chapter 1271: Chapter 834 Is that it? Ange scratched his head in bewilderment before the Undead King, feeling as if he were nothing more than a farming skeleton. Wasn't it the king's job to save the void?
Was the king not reliable?
“Of course he's not reliable, didn't you hear everyone's analysis just now? That Old Immortal has probably fallen into trouble somewhere again. Right now, the Void Will can project consciousness, but he can't, which definitely means he's at a disadvantage. We need to think of a solution fast, save the void, and rescue him along the way,” Negris said.
Ange rubbed his head, pondering in distress.
Anthony couldn't help but snicker. Ange hadn't caught the deeper meaning, but he had–it wasn't about Ange saving the void at all; it was about getting the Undead King rescued as soon as possible.
It was unclear if the Undead King had truly fallen, but the loss of contact was certain–even Locke had lost connection.
Moreover, the Dark Origin, with its direct soul contact with Ange, was also out of reach, which made it even harder to judge.
Theoretically, Chaos Mist shouldn't be able to block Soul Contact, but the mist during high tide could. At the onset of the tide, the connection between the Chaos Holy Spirit Legion and the Monarch was severed. At that time, Helan and Lidali were escorting several souls connected to the Monarch.
So after Dark Origin left, the Soul Contact was also interrupted, leaving it impossible to tell whether it remained in the Chaos Mist or had fallen elsewhere.
The only certainty was that it wasn't dead; in Ange's Soul Network, the node belonging to it remained intact.
“The one who is least likely to be in trouble is Abyssal Big Mouth. Why don't we go find Abyssal Big Mouth and test it?” Anthony suggested.
With the Undead Ruler and the Dark Origin going before, Abyssal Big Mouth definitely wouldn't be foolish enough to act personally, so it was very likely safe.
If they could find Abyssal Big Mouth, they might be able to figure out what exactly had happened. If it wasn't found, then it was likely that even it had fallen.
Whether found or not, more information could be obtained, and any answer would be pieced together from accumulated details.
Once the plan was formed, the group quickly prepared to retreat. The one who had been ignored all along finally couldn't restrain a roar of rage: “You bastards, have you forgotten your promise? Let me out, damn you all!”
“Oh, oh, we did forget, but we can't let you out. Your consciousness has been contaminated, and could be replaced by someone else at any moment. Letting you out is like releasing a free-walking body. Better stay underground,” Anthony said.
“What contamination? My consciousness has been contaminated? What nonsense are you talking about? Are you planning to break your promise?” The Chaos Consciousness Body shouted desperately, yet its tone involuntarily betrayed its panic.
Anthony asked, “Did you feel anything when you were invaded? Even if you felt nothing, you can probably guess what happened to you from the memory gap of suddenly losing consciousness. After all, that's how you invade others. Any further denial would be unbecoming.”
“I… I… I…” The Chaos Consciousness Body stuttered weakly, obviously hit hard by Anthony's words.
It often used that method to invade other beings and certainly knew the signs of being invaded–suddenly losing memories for a period. It wasn't ignorant, but rather reluctant to admit it. Exposed by Anthony, it became frantic. Was its consciousness truly impure?
No one would ever want to be at risk of invasion at any moment, an invasion against which there was no defense.
“Who was it? Who contaminated me?” the Chaos Consciousness Body asked, watching as Ange and the others were about to leave.
“Probably the Void Will,” Anthony tossed back, then summoned the Consciousness Body, wrapping around his body and flying out of the Plane, arriving outside the barrier.
Mounting the Super Speed Snail, the group circled the edge of the Chaos Plane for a while and quickly located the Abyssal Big Mouth entity that resembled a black vortex.
Unless one entered the Chaos Mist, the exceptionally distinctive body of Abyssal Big Mouth was easy for anyone to spot.
Even if it hid in the mist, Abyssal Big Mouth had a much harder time concealing itself because it would absorb all nearby mist into the Abyss, clearing the surrounding area of mist, making it discoverable as soon as one entered this range.
Besides, if it absorbed too much mist, Abyssal Big Mouth couldn't digest it, so its entity couldn't possibly hide there.
As Negris was about to move closer, Anthony held him back, “You're not thinking of just going over there like that, are you?”
Negris asked in confusion, “How else could it be? We've got to disguise ourselves?”
“If we swagger up there like this,” Anthony asked, “the Abyssal Big Mouth will only have two options, to break with the Void Will or to fight us to the death. What do you think it will choose?”
“Break with the Void Will?” Negris said with a forced laugh.
Everyone knows that the probability of it fighting us to the death is much higher than breaking with the Void Will. There are no compulsory constraints between us and the Abyssal Big Mouth, only a common interest — to eliminate the Void Will.
But when it comes to a threat to life, interests no longer matter.
If we can't just swagger over, then we can only storm over menacingly. Ange assumed an offensive posture, leading the way, with the Little Demon King to the left and the Light of Creation to the right, while Starfire circled at a distance, gathering World-destroying Starfire.
So they slowly approached, with Anthony shouting from within the formation, “Abyssal Big Mouth, come out!”
The pitch-black vortex swirled slowly, yet showed no reaction to such a formation.
“Come out, Abyssal Big Mouth! If you don't, we will launch an attack,” Anthony said loudly.
The pitch-black vortex still didn't change in any way, no movement, no expansion.
“Could the Abyssal Big Mouth have fallen as well?” Negris asked softly.
“Let's not be hasty, Starfire, smack it,” Anthony said.
The Goddess of Starfire hesitated, “Are we really going to smack it?”
After all, the Abyssal Big Mouth was her former boss, one of the Void Origins, and she was a bit panicked.
“Smack it. Let's see what your World-destroying Starfire is made of,” Anthony said.
Alright. The Goddess of Starfire continued to circle and fly, the Starfire she pushed overhead growing bigger and its pulsation stronger, until it reached the limit.
Starfire then adjusted direction, pushing the World-destroying Starfire towards the vortex.
The World-destroying Starfire fell into the vortex without hindrance, sparked for a moment in the depths of the abyss, and then disappeared without a trace.
Negris and Anthony couldn't help furrowing their brows, “That's it? Didn't you say that your World-destroying Starfire gave the Abyssal Big Mouth a major headache? Just that?”
Starfire sheepishly said, “Lord Abyss was upset about not being able to catch up to me, not about my World-destroying Starfire causing a headache. Of course, hitting it with Starfire does hurt, but it can't catch me, so it's even more exasperating. Nevertheless, I don't believe I could damage the Abyss before using up all my power.”
No sooner had these words fallen than a roar of anger came from the depths of the vortex, “Traitor! What are you doing? How dare you offend me!”
With that roar, a jet streamed from the center of the vortex, and at the top of the jet, a new incarnation of Dark Wing emerged, embodying the Abyssal Big Mouth.
But although it bore the shape of Dark Wing, the form was magnified many times over, its wings beating once brought it rushing towards Ange's group at incredible speed.
Without a word, Ange and his group mounted the Super Speed Snail and turned to run, with the Abyssal Big Mouth hot on their heels. They fled in such a panic that they soon “blindly” ran deep into the Chaos Mist.
After entering the Mist Zone, Anthony signaled to the Super Speed Snail to slow down a bit while looking back to see that the persistently chasing Abyssal Big Mouth also reduced its speed.
Anthony then signaled for the Super Speed Snail to slow down a bit more, to which the Abyssal Big Mouth responded by reducing its speed as well. This way, both sides slowed down bit by bit until they gradually came to a stop.
