Chapter 1198: Chapter 762: Witches, They Are Witches! Chapter 1198: Chapter 762: Witches, They Are Witches! Negris was busy exchanging information over there, and Ange scurried away, glad he had brought Negris back with him, otherwise, he would have been caught up in a lengthy conversation with Lisa about things he had no interest in.
Soon, Ange arrived at the entrance to the seashell cavity, which he now confirmed was actually a giant snail, not a seashell, but he had gotten used to calling it that and didn't plan to change it.
The cavity was completely filled with water, resembling a vast ocean that was incredibly deep, reaching directly to the center of the Conch Plane, or, in other words, the entire interior of the Conch Plane was all water.
Now, these waters were teeming with algae, thick and lush, clogging the surface into a blanket of green.
Fortunately, the algae field was intact. Ange breathed a sigh of relief and plopped into the water.
The water was murky, a bit eutrophic, but this was exactly the environment the algae favored. As Ange dived deeper, the algae became sparser and the water cleaner.
Hundreds of meters down, only a dozen or so thick trunks of algae remained, tied down by thick ropes, just as they had been at the bottom of the Light Sea Plane.
Every so often, a giant bubble would rise from the depths of the cavity, spreading out as it ascended and eventually dispersing into a multitude of tiny bubbles throughout the cavity's water body.
Ange continued diving and finally reached the deepest part.
There was nothing there; even the sediment was carried upwards by the bubbles, so the place was spotlessly clean.
Ange had just seen a large bubble rise when, not long after, a point in the water began to emit a 'fizzling' sound, like boiling water, vaporizing a great amount of water and forming a large hollow bubble.
When the bubble grew to a certain size, it started rising, gradually dispersing as it enveloped Ange as it passed.
Ange felt as if he had been 'snipped' by something. The water pressure inside the cavity was very high, but the pressure of the bubble was different. The difference in pressure, when passing over Ange, gave him the sensation of being 'snipped'.
The creator of the bubbles finally noticed Ange and a surprised voice rang out, “Eh? Lord? What brings you here? My goodness, Lord, have you come to see us? Whimper, whimper, whimper, Lord, you've finally come to see us, I've missed you so much.”
Ange cocked his head.
“Oh, oh, Lord, please come in, this way.” Tom created a whirlpool that guided Ange in the right direction.
Following the current, Ange arrived at a large hole five meters in diameter. Passing through this hole, Ange entered a world of pure water.
The water here was completely devoid of impurities, not at all mixing with the eutrophic water outside, as if composed of two entirely different substances, clear and distinct.
Ange cocked his head and pointed at the clear line between the clarity and murkiness, curiously asking, “How is this done?”
“Oh, it's like this. Lorca and I worked together to create this Pure Water Field. My power and her power maintain a balance, automatically repelling anything that doesn't belong in this field,” Tom explained.
Lorca? Ange cocked his head, extending his thoughts out, quickly finding another consciousness tucked away in the corner. As it sensed Ange's thoughts sweeping over, it retreated even further, its awareness radiating: It's that scary skeleton person–don't see me–don't see me–
It was Lolorca the Pure Water. Scary? Was he scary? Ange pondered for a moment, then withdrew his thoughts and pulled out a large bottle with his other hand.
Tom exclaimed in alarm, “Oh my, a Pure Water Elf! Ahem, Pure Water Essence? Such a large chunk, Lord, where did you find it?”
Tom and Lolorca were both Pure Water Elves. Born from pure water, the more of it there was, the stronger their powers, but there was a limit to this 'more.'
Tom could control about twenty thousand tons of pure water, past which it could no longer serve as his power source. To increase his power limit, he would need to strengthen his origin power.
His origin was called Pure Water Essence; born from pure water's essence, hence he was a Pure Water Elf. But if the chunk of essence lacked consciousness, then it couldn't be called an elf, only essence.
An unconscious Pure Water Essence was precisely the best supplement for a Pure Water Elf like him.
“Chaos Plane, creations of, you, Ancient God,” Ange said.
Tom was baffled. He recognized every word the adult said, yet why did it all sound incomprehensible when strung together?
Negris's voice rang out at just the right time, “What he means is that the Light of Creation created these Pure Water Essences in the Chaos Plane, where there is an abundance of Chaos Mist. The Light of Creation can create many things there, and you Pure Water Elves should be considered Ancient Gods.”
After finishing his chat with Lisa and Locke, Negris hurriedly projected himself over, arriving just in time to hear Ange's words.
“Ancient Gods? We are Ancient Gods? What does 'Ancient God' mean? Never mind, then… this…” Tom formed a tiny figure out of Pure Water, rubbing his tiny hands together in excitement, eagerness, and nervousness.
“It's meant for you, take it and divide it up,” Negris muttered to himself, “As for what 'Ancient God' means? It must be some kind of mistranslation.”
Negris now knew enough Ancient Gods to summarize some of their characteristics, “Ancient Gods should be super beings nurtured by the Chaos Mist. Because the individuals are so powerful, they are worshiped like gods by ordinary beings, therefore they are called Ancient Gods. However, they don't actually have much to do with Gods.”
Ange shook his head.
This shake of Ange's head completely puzzled Negris, “What does your head shake mean? You don't agree with my analysis?”
Ange scratched his head, struggling to find the right words, “Chaos Mist, belief transformation, Ancient Gods, Mist nurturing, they, products of belief, called Gods.”
“Hiss–How is that possible? They don't have any divine power at all,” Negris gasped in astonishment.
He understood Akt's meaning. Ange meant that Chaos Mist is transformed from belief, Ancient Gods are nurtured from the mist, and essentially, these Ancient Gods are products of belief, with no fundamental difference from deities, hence the term 'Ancient God'.
But for Kvada, the shock came precisely because it understood. If the mist of the Chaos Plane is all transformed from belief, how many followers would it take to generate such an abundance of belief power? Even if the whole Void were packed, it wouldn't be possible to generate so much belief power.
Ange tilted his head, pointing at the Pure Water Essence currently being divided by Tom and Lorca, “Divine power.”
If the Light of Creation can bring forth matter from nothing, wouldn't it possess divine power? It's just that their manifestation of divine power varies, lacking a collective will, so they don't quite resemble the divine power used by Ange.
But the question remains, the consciousness of an Ancient God is stronger than that of a hundred thousand followers, so could their own will not be akin to the divine power of a hundred thousand followers? Isn't power that follows their will divine power?
“Self-worship, self-definition, Witch, they're Witches!” Negris realized in an epiphany.
'Witch' was just a metaphor, suggesting their power resembled that of witches. Witches also don't possess divine power, or at least not the kind of 'divine power' recognized by Negris.
The Ancient Gods don't possess the divine power Negris knows of, yet they are products of belief. Where do these beliefs come from?
Thinking about it gave Negris a headache, realizing that the origins of Ancient Gods were far more complex than he'd imagined and were not simply super beings as he once thought. The term 'God' was definitely not a translation error.
Just then, a point of white light suddenly appeared in the distance, accompanied by a sizzling sound, and a plethora of bubbles emerged, radiating intense heat.
Ange looked over, the white light quickly stopped, and Tom and Lolorca turned into two small figures. Lolorca, with his head shrunken, sent out a message: We've caused trouble–
Tom, however, awkwardly smiled, “It's out of control, out of control. I just absorbed too much Pure Water Essence. It's many times more than our original origin, and there's enough Pure Water here, so our power increased greatly, and we caused trouble. Are you alright, sir? Didn't get scalded, did you?”
Ange shook his head.
Negris, however, asked curiously, “What have you done? Why is the energy reaction so intense?”
Tom scratched his head, “I'm not sure. Our power has increased, and so has the pressure in the Pure Water Field. The Pure Water at the points of intersection in the field was pressed together to become heavy water, and that's what happened.”
As Tom spoke, he gestured to Lolorca to increase the pressure in the field again. Immediately, a point of white light appeared at the intersection, the intense light shining like a sun.
