Chapter 1195: Chapter 759: The Pitiful Child Who Never Tasted Lamb Leg Chapter 1195: Chapter 759: The Pitiful Child Who Never Tasted Lamb Leg Indeed, they were a group of pitiable people, including that woman, who was indeed the Great Priest, and she indeed enjoyed treatment beyond that of ordinary people, but in Anthony's eyes, what she had done didn't even count as a crime.
Iron Skin's hand was indeed chopped off by a Priest, but Iron Skin also did steal food. In a world where resources are scarce, food might be even more important than life, and chopping off a hand might be considered a light punishment.
If one crosses the bottom line, human life can actually be equated with food.
However, that did not happen here, which shows that there is still the most basic order in place. From this perspective, these rulers, like the Great Priest, are not only without sin but might even be credited with merit.
Ultimately, they were just a group of pitiable people living on a giant snail shell, and no matter how cool the name they choose is, it cannot cover up this fact. All their struggles are merely to continue to eke out an existence.
They were truly pitiable; even the thousand-year-old Old God Stick lost the heart to play tricks on them. Hurry up, let them feel the warmth of the Light.
Anthony beckoned, and Anrus and Lucy with the Pink Hem immediately brought people over. After a previous hands-on practice, even Lucy, the Enchanting Demon, had mastered the whole rescue process.
One must wear a kind and friendly smile; absolutely do not have a stern face as if someone owes you a hundred thousand Demon Crystals. For most intelligent creatures, a smile is the simplest way to express goodwill.
This was simply a perfect match for the Enchanting Demon; on the contrary, Anrus's smile was a bit stiff and distant. Well, Elves are just naturally expressionless, but it's okay. With Lucy taking the lead, most creatures couldn't bypass her charm to see the Elf's face behind her.
Wearing a smile, speaking kindly, and even stuffing a fragrant vegetable bun into your hands–good heavens, those people who couldn't even get enough food on ordinary days just felt like they had seen Angels, and dizzily followed along.
They were gathered to one side initially, and at this stage, it would normally be Lisa leading the Undead Priests to perform the Purify Technique, purifying the body of diseases and parasites and incidentally treating some minor injuries and pains.
Unfortunately, Lisa was not here, and Pink Hem, being a novice, could only trouble Lord Ange to take action personally.
When a certain number of people were gathered, Lord Ange waved his hand, and a broad range of the Purify Technique enveloped all these people.
The Purify Technique was actually a redefinition of the Purification. Lisa defined it as a Divine Art for purifying and beautifying, but the beautification was meant for Necromancers; when used on the living, it became healing.
Hence, everyone felt all the filth on their bodies washed away, their dry hair loosened, their tight skin relaxed, the bad breath in their mouths vanished, the itching on their bodies disappeared, and the fleas in their hair packed their bags and took off.
Pink Hem said in a timely manner, “The blessing of Light, thank Master Ang, hold faith in your heart, and all ailments will fade away.”
This kind of scene was too familiar, except that previously people thanked the divine light; now it had been replaced by Ange. When they thanked the divine light, there were no blessings to be had; now, they hadn't even started thanking, and all ailments were already cured.
“Thank Master Ang, may Your divine light endure forever–” an older human began to pray.
“May Your divine light endure forever–” When you can't even get enough to eat, most people's beliefs are hard to hold firm. With someone leading, immediately, others followed suit.
And this prayer was quite clever, directly equating 'Master' with the 'divine light,' not amounting to a renouncement of faith while also thanking Ange–a true believer's shrewdness.
Anthony loved these kinds of flexible believers. He quickly pulled him to one side, whispered a few instructions, and handed him a Spatial Bag full of vegetable buns.
This older human was originally not even a Priest; theoretically, he had no chance of rising in rank in his lifetime. Anthony's actions were like a field promotion, and he even trusted him with the most important task of resource distribution.
This human immediately understood Anthony's intentions and said at once, “May Your divine light endure forever; I am Dakrita, my Lord, ready to serve You.”
“Go ahead.” Anthony nodded in approval.
Dakrita turned back, muttering about “the blessing of Light” and “divine light endures,” beginning to distribute the vegetable buns.
For people they recognized, there was an inherent greater trust, and acceptance was much higher.
Anthony had another purpose in doing this, which was to set an example. He wanted everyone to know that if they were as “devout” as Dakrita, who simply uttered, “May the Master God not live forever,” they could attain everything they had not dared even dream of before.
After dealing with these matters, they all floated toward the tower, and then lifted the prohibition on the Great Priest.
As soon as the prohibition was lifted, the Great God's voice immediately rang out, “You liars, blasphemers, what have you done to me? Where are my people? You…”
Before he could finish, Ange pulled out a pickled lamb leg, which was food for Negris. Its body was alive, requiring periodic feeding, and its taste had been spoiled to the point that even the meat needed to be pickled first.
With a gesture, the Fire Element seeped into the lamb leg, grilling it until it sizzled and smoked, its exterior turning golden brown and the aroma wafting everywhere.
Once it was grilled, Ange stuffed the lamb leg into the Great Priest's hands.
The Great Priest was bewildered, looking back and forth between Ange, Anthony, and the lamb leg in his hand.
Anthony revealed a kind smile, “Go ahead, eat. It's well pickled, tastes quite good. Have you eaten lamb leg before?”
The Great Priest swallowed hard, his neck stiffly shaking a 'no'.
“Not even grilled lamb leg? Poor child. Have you ever tasted roast chicken, roast duck, braised fish, lamb soup, steamed bear paws, fried fish fillets, fried potatoes, or looked up at the starry sky?” Anthony gently asked.
The Great Priest was dumbfounded, his mouth agape, drool dripping down without him even noticing. Although he didn't know what all these were, why did his mouth water just hearing about them?
“Ah, poor child, you probably haven't tasted green dates, sweet beet elf beans, fire dragon fruit, oranges, apples, and such either, right? Here, have a green date,” Anthony said, pushing a large green date into his hand.
The Great Priest had lost his ability to think. He couldn't comprehend how a tense interrogation could suddenly shift to grilled lamb leg and green dates, taking away his initiative.
But… but… he had never seen these things before! The lamb leg smelled so delicious and the green dates too, he couldn't help but drool at the sight. How could this be when he clearly didn't even recognize these two items?
Anthony wasn't about to wait for him to come to his senses and continued to pull out several sets of clothing — cotton fabric that was gentle to the skin, smooth silk, and brightly colored dyed cloth — all the while saying, “Poor child, your clothes have turned white. Take these clothes to wear, and later on, we'll give you several sets to change into.”
Several sets? To change into? The Great Priest's eyes grew wider and wider.
Anthony then pulled out a bag of grain, exposing the rice within. He infused it with the Fire Element and roasted it, immediately releasing the fragrant scent of caramelized starch — an eternal pursuit etched into the bloodlines of humans.
The Great Priest could no longer hold back his saliva and, almost instinctively took a bite of the lamb leg, his eyes widening in astonishment: Could it be this delicious?
Anthony kept producing more items, “This is the Fruit of Life, eating it can extend one's life. This is a Demon Crystal, this is a Soul Crystal, this is a Holy Crystal, this is a Star Realm Gem, this is a Space Ornament, these are the catalogs for various magic equipment, too many to carry with the tomes.”
“These are all kinds of skincare and beauty packages. I don't understand it well, but as long as you know, it's fine. This is sand bathing, hot springs, saunas, massages.”
“This is the Goblin Trade Guild's product catalog, everything edible, wearable, usable, and playable; it's all here.”
“These are the blue skies and white clouds, the azure seas and silver beaches, the grassy plains and lofty ridges, the Unfinished Sandbars; in our dominion, all these landscapes exist.”
“This is the Power of Holy Light, this is Undead Soul Power, this is Elemental Magic, this is Natural Arcane, this is Dragon Language Magic, this is the Will of God.”
Reaching this point, Anthony looked at the Great Priest, his tone becoming authoritative, “Light is the only light in the Void, He who created all the above. Do you wish to gain the true light?”
The Great Priest's knees buckled, uncontrollably falling to the ground, his voice trembling as he said, “I do wish…”
They were just some poor souls untouched by the world, even the Great Priest, who had never eaten grilled lamb leg. There was no need for any tricks, just by displaying one's strength, she would understand what truly is the only light in the Void.
