Chapter 1158: Chapter 722 Is it difficult? It's very simple. Chapter 1158: Chapter 722 Is it difficult? It's very simple. Having raised an Enchanting Demon before, Anthony was all too aware of the creature's weaknesses–there were always some issues that charm alone couldn't solve.
The Enchanting Demon batted her big, watery eyes and said pitifully, “It's not that I don't want to, it's just that the question you posed is too difficult. Ten bugs, each giving birth to ten children a year, and the bugs' children can give birth the following year, so how many will there be in ten years? Who could possibly figure that out?”
Negriss leaned forward, puzzled, and asked, “Is it that hard? Isn't it just ten times ten times ten times ten… equaling (XX)?”
The Enchanting Demon was baffled as she looked at Negriss, then back at Anthony.
Anthony spread his hands, an expression on his face that said 'it's so simple, yet you still won't do it for me.'
The Enchanting Demon scratched her head, frustrated, and asked, “What about this then? What is one plus two plus three plus four plus five all the way up to one hundred?”
Negriss popped his head up again and quite matter-of-factly said, “That's easy, one plus one hundred equals one hundred and one, two plus ninety-nine also equals one hundred and one, so the answer is (___).”
The Enchanting Demon was stunned. That's easy? You're kidding me, Bada.
With Negriss as a contrast, the Enchanting Demon couldn't help but doubt whether these math problems were indeed very simple. Was she just too stupid?
Looking both baffled and frustrated, where was the charm of an Enchanting Demon? After being battered by math problems, the Enchanting Demon became docile and stopped casting her enchantments recklessly.
“You're called Pink Hem, right? I want to ask how many creatures are in this area, and what are the main species?” asked Anthony.
Batting her big, watery eyes, the Enchanting Demon replied, “How many creatures? Are you counting parasites like fleas? If not, then there are probably a few hundred million independent organisms.”
Anthony and Negriss almost slipped and fell flat on their faces, “A few hundred million? There are a few hundred million creatures in this area? We're not talking about the entire Chaos Plane, just this area, just the Little Demon King's territory?”
The Enchanting Demon glanced over at the Little Demon King, deeply shaken. Just a 'Little' Demon King? To be referred to as the Little Demon King and the Lord Demon King doesn't react, as if it were perfectly normal? Is this robust human that powerful? Or is it his patron who's influential?
While her thoughts raced, her verbal response was not slow. She quickly replied, “Yes, just this area. Just our cultivated Mud Eating Beasts number in the millions, several tens of millions of Moss Dragons, tens of thousands of mounts, not to mention all sorts of terrestrial and avian creatures. A few billion isn't an overstatement, and over ten billion wouldn't be surprising.”
“Mud Eating Beasts? Moss Dragons?” Anthony inquired about what these were and learned that they were a kind of livestock that ate 'mud,' a primary cultivation object for the demons, and also their most important source of meat, with the Moss Dragons similarly being domesticated poultry.
The 'mud' wasn't actual mud, but rather something like the sawdust on the Divine Wood Continent. Under the right conditions, the remnants of Divine Wood would continuously produce this 'sawdust,' inexhaustible and always regenerating. The Giant Dragons of the Divine Wood Continent used it to fatten up worms.
It seemed that the Mud Eating Beasts were also a type of livestock that could easily gain weight, like the fattened worms.
Anthony and Negriss breathed a sigh of relief. So, it was these creatures and not intelligent beings numbering in the billions. That would've been frightening, more populous than two planes combined–what kind of rich environment could sustain such an enormous number of creatures?
Even if it was all wildlife, the number was still considerable. Who would have thought the dark, murky Chaos Plane would be teeming with so many creatures?
After the Enchanting Demon's explanation, everyone understood that gathering so many creatures was not an easy task, and this area had a uniquely advantageous condition: stability.
As the Little Demon King, an Ancient God Hunter, he was a formidable force on the battlefield. Only he went hunting for others, no Ancient Gods would dare come to his territory to cause destruction, thus the demon tribe living under his rule had a stable space to exist.
Secondly, the terrain here was quite complex, with hundreds of thousands of pieces of Giant Rock of various sizes and shapes scattered across the region, any one of which could sustain dozens or hundreds of creatures, like the Ziya Tribe.
Moreover, within the area were three massive Abyss Dimensions, all territories of the demon tribe, with Pink Hem being the ruler of one such Abyss Dimension, governing tens of millions of intelligent creatures including demons, elves, humans, and more.
Demons were the dominant species, while elves and humans were slaves; a considerable number of animals were bred. The situations in the other two Abyss were similar, and with scattered regions combined, the total number of creatures was between several hundred million to over a billion.
The introduction by Pink Hem left Anthony and Negriss in awe; it turned out that this region contained three complete Abyss Dimensions with ecosystems and tens of millions of intelligent creatures.
They had originally thought that settlements were all fragmented like the Ziya Tribe since characters like Drosa had described the environment of the Chaos Plane to them, highlighting how intelligent creatures were rare.
Pink Hem nodded and looked up to the Little Demon King with admiration, “It might be the case elsewhere, but here, because of the Devil King's protection, other Ancient Gods don't dare to come here and cause trouble, thus allowing us to develop such a large population.”
Because of me? The Little Demon King was taken aback. What did this have to do with him? He rarely bothered with these demons, only vaguely aware of their existence. Did the number matter to him? Not really.
His mindset was akin to someone thinking, 'I know there are three ant nests in my yard, but as long as they're not bothering me, I won't disturb them.'
However, faced with Pink Hem's adoring look, it wouldn't be polite to say that directly, so he simply stood taller and nodded from time to time, as if he had indeed protected these demons.
Anthony saw right through the Enchanting Demon's intentions; it was a classic case of flattery. Praise first, then when tough times come, the memory of that praise would make you grit your teeth and endure the hardship.
Praise the Little Demon King for his might so that next time an Ancient God caused trouble, would he not step in to chase them away, lest he lose his 'mighty' reputation?
But Anthony wouldn't remind the Little Demon King; this was just the Enchanting Demon's survival strategy. If someone was enthusiastically flattering and making you happy, couldn't you deign to protect their anthill with a mere gesture?
He even went so far as to assist, saying, “Heh heh, then you are indeed fortunate to have come upon such a responsible ruler as the Little Demon King.”
The Little Demon King was not used to being flattered so, causing his tail with its little triangle to perk up.
The Enchanting Demon sensed Anthony's goodwill and cast a coquettish look from her watery eyes.
Anthony didn't fall for it and smiled, asking, “So, how many elves do you have there? How are they faring? Is there any mistreatment or the like?”
The Enchanting Demon subconsciously glanced at Aesclis and other elves in the distance, hesitating before speaking, “Do you have a connection with the elves? If you do, then I am very sorry to tell you that the quinquennial Blood Sacrifice is almost upon us, during which we will slaughter a large number of intelligent creatures, using their blood and souls to offer sacrifices to the Devil King.”
The Little Demon King was confused. A sacrifice to me? How come I'm not aware of this?
The Enchanting Demon said apologetically, “This includes a large number of humans and elves. If you have a relationship with either elves or humans, I can order my territories to temporarily halt the Blood Sacrifice and switch to capturing Goblins and Dwarves instead, but I can't do anything about the other Abyss.”
