Chapter 1149: Chapter 713: Come and ask for yourself Chapter 1149: Chapter 713: Come and ask for yourself Gods, that Great Elf turned out to be a deity with the fluctuations of Divine Power.
“What's going on? The Elf Clan's Great Elf is actually a deity? I thought it was just a larger-than-average elf, like a Titan-size Great Elf. How could it be a deity?” Negris whispered.
“Lord God of Life, can elves give birth to deities?” Anthony leaned over to Ange's shoulder and asked.
The God of Life leisurely responded, “That shouldn't be possible. We are just a part of nature and have conflicts with the unnatural group's faith. Their beliefs all belong to me, but their power is too weak to condense Divine Fire.”
Although the old tree was always being called the Tree of Life, it was actually not a deity but a super-giant tree that was even more powerful than deities. Perhaps it didn't care about those sparks of faith, which was why it had never ignited the Divine Fire.
There were also no great heroes within the Elf Clan that could gather the faith of the elves.
Anthony muttered, “So you're saying, if it weren't for the presence of the God of Life overpowering it, this Great Elf, by gathering the faith of all the Void Elves, could potentially ignite the Divine Fire. But its Divine Power is so weak, and it seems to be leaking out. Could it be that it doesn't know how to control it?”
“Could it not be intentional? Intentionally letting it overflow to either test or intimidate us?” Negris speculated.
Anthony shook his head, “If it were intentional, then this overflow would be controllable, not chaotic like it is now. Even if it intended to make the overflow appear chaotic, due to its control, it wouldn't be completely random. It could only be 'chaotic' in a pattern. But this chaos has no pattern at all; it's hard to imagine it's intentional.”
With that, Anthony paused and added, “I've only seen one being capable of controlling chaos so there's no pattern at all–you, my lord. However, deep inside, you're too orderly, so even your fluctuations are more regular than others.”
Negris rolled his eyes, “Just admit it's simple-minded. What pattern? This Dead Skull has no other thoughts. No, no, no, it's gotten more thoughts now, even learned to sneak off, heh heh, learning all the bad things instead of the good.”
Ange immediately pulled out the Bronze Book and handed it to Big Cat with a “roar!”
Big Cat's eyes lit up, clutching the Bronze Book and sticking out his wet little tongue as if to lick it.
Negris begged for mercy at once, “No, no, no, I surrender, the book can't be licked, can't be licked, don't lick it.”
Big Cat provocatively glanced at Negris, feigned licking to the left, then the right, scaring Negris horribly–only returning the book to Ange after having his fun.
Of course, the Bronze Book wouldn't be damaged by a lick, but that was Negris's true form. If it got licked by Big Cat, would it still be usable?
There, now everyone knew that Ange had truly learned to be bad.
The Great Elf was not an oversized elf but a figure of light and shadow. In the midst of pure white radiance, a beautiful and noble Elf figure smiled at Ange and the others.
Anrus introduced, “This is our Great Elf. I ask our guests to come forward for an audience.”
An audience? Anthony quietly made a sign and casually performed a gesture of touching his chest, “The envoy of the Kingdom of Gods, Saint Anthony, greets the Great Elf.”
The others did not move, and seeing this, the surrounding elves grew a bit restless.
The Great Elf gently raised a hand, and the commotion around quickly subsided. Only then did the Great Elf ask, “Where is the Kingdom of Gods located? How did you come to be here?”
Anthony introduced, “The Kingdom of Gods is a world established by the gods themselves. Within it grow towering World Trees, bearing the Fruits of Life, with sweet sap flowing from their knots. Beneath the trees lie vast forests, grasslands, and farmlands, where the forests are full of fruits, the meadows graze with cattle and sheep, and the fields are brimming with crops.”
“Elves make tree houses and weave vines in the trees, sleep in hammocks, bathe in the Moon Spring, eat the Fruits of Life, wear silk garments, and indulge in the arts. Each elf is an exceptional singer and artist, blessed with a long life. Under the protection of the Tree of Life, they live without illness or pain, enjoying a contented life…”
Necromancer and Lightning Black Horse listened with cringed teeth. Anthony sure knew how to bluff. This was just a spin-off of the Holy Kingdom's spiel but with elves, wasn't it?
Seeing how the elves were poorly dressed and poorly fed, and then modifying the story to beguile people. The elves from the Master Plane wouldn't fall for this…
No, it wasn't that the elves of the Master Plane didn't fall for this; they'd always lived this way. The God of Life had taken such good care of them that they took it all for granted.
Only Ange and a few others didn't understand the bluff at all and stood there looking bewildered.
Negris leaned over to explain, “It's as if Heaven has endless fields awaiting you to cultivate.”
Ange perked up, immediately catching on.
Not only did Ange become excited, but the elves surrounding them also perked up, breathing rapidly and their eyes shining with anticipation. My goodness, could such a life really exist? Was the Kingdom of Gods truly that marvelous?
The Great Elf, who had been smiling all along, suddenly changed his countenance dramatically and bellowed, “Lies! Daring to lie in front of me? Seize them!”
“??” How come there was such an abrupt change of face? Anthony was barely able to react, and the Void Elves were even slower on the uptake. Having been enticed by Anthony's sweet talk, they were all hungry–and suddenly, they were meant to be catching someone?
The quickest to respond was Ange. He took a step forward, and immediately a row of Holy Light missiles appeared beside him. With another step, another row, and another, and yet another…
Each step brought forth a row of missiles that hissed towards the area he had locked his gaze upon, as if stepping on and bursting through the dark Void.
But as dazzling as this attack was, it was only secondary; Ange's main attack was his fist. While the Great Elf was dazzled by Ange's barrage of Holy Light missiles, Ange abruptly threw a punch that, despite being dozens of meters away, landed squarely on the Great Elf's body.
Bang! A burst of blinding light erupted, and the Great Elf's form exploded, revealing a withered Necromancer shrouded in a phantom guise.
“???” A Necromancer? What was going on? Negris and the others were dumbfounded. The Void Elves were bewildered, and everyone was stunned.
The only one not stunned was the blown-back Necromancer, who took advantage of the momentum to flip backwards and attempt to flee.
Ange pointed his finger toward it, and with a Spirit Touch, he pulled the Necromancer back in a snap. After a good smashing, he then tied it up with a Lifesaving Rope.
“This… this…” All these sudden changes happened so quickly that Anrus hadn't even had a chance to react. She stared at the bound Necromancer and then at Ange, at a loss.
The rest of the Void Elves were just as clueless, uncertain about what to do next. Although the Great Elf had ordered them to capture Ange, the Great Elf himself had been unmasked with a single punch. What was this withered and ugly creature all about?
Anthony was even more annoyed: “I seem to have gone too hard and hit its weak spot. Ah, well, these kinds of deities that rely on falsity and deception to maintain their mystery deserve a good beating.”
Then he turned to Anrus and said, “This is your Great Elf? Why don't you come over and ask it yourself?”
PS: The New Year is approaching, and there are too many trifles, really tough.
