Chapter 1118: Chapter 682: The Goddess's Face Burst into Laughter Chapter 1118: Chapter 682: The Goddess's Face Burst into Laughter The Goddess of Starfire returned at a quicker pace, glanced around briefly, and then descended toward the treetop, stepping onto a branch of the Void War Tree and called out, “I'm borrowing this spot for a rest, and while I'm at it, I'll pick a couple of fruits. I'll give you some fertilizer later, don't refuse, or I'll dismantle you.”
The Little War Tree, which had been feigning death upon orders, had no choice but to open its eyes and extend a branch to point at itself.
“That's right, you. Who else could it be around here? Ever since your main plant died, why has your intelligence dropped? You're slow to react. Hurry up and produce two sweet, juicy fruits,” said the Goddess of Starfire irritably.
The Little War Tree, thinking of the tens of thousands of Undead Saints and a bunch of peeping Skeleton Shaman Little Fat Dragons beneath its roots, really wanted to say 'yes', but the main plant was already sending an impatient urge: Give it to her, give it to her, let's see what she wants to do.
It was clear from the tone that these words were Little Fat Dragon's.
The Little War Tree extended a branch, and two large fruits formed on the tip, each as big as a basin.
The Goddess of Starfire plucked them and held them aloft to a fork in the tree, stomped on it a couple of times, creating semi-circular indents, and then plonked herself down, leaning back comfortably.
The stomped-on Little War Tree's face distorted, snorting disgruntledly.
The Goddess of Starfire looked up, dissatisfied, and asked, “What? Does it hurt?”
The Little War Tree smiled: No–it–doesn't–hurt.
Kvada, she even asks if it hurts after stomping it into a dent? If it wasn't for the fact that I can't beat her, I'd tie her up right now.
“Oh, not so dumb after all,” said the Goddess of Starfire, surprised. She reached into her chest to pull something out, and out came a little ball of fluff.
Seeing this little furball, everyone instinctively looked toward Big Cat, and Little Angel even exclaimed in shock, “Big Cat!”
Now everyone instinctively looked at her. Aside from 'ao', this was the first complete word Little Angel had ever spoken.
Negris was the least surprised of all; it knew that Little Angel's constant 'ao ao ao' wasn't because she couldn't speak, but because she didn't need to. With just an 'ao', Ange, Little Zombie, Big Cat, White Neck, and the rest knew exactly what she meant. There was no need for words.
Now, it was only because she was so shocked that she blurted out Big Cat's name, for what the Goddess of Starfire had fished out from her chest was none other than a Little Dimensional Beast, fluffy and palm-sized, incredibly cute.
The Goddess of Starfire had asked for two fruits obviously to feed it. Gazing at the adorable creature cradled in her palm, the Goddess of Starfire smiled with tender affection, softly saying, “Hungry, are you? Here, eat this fruit. It's from the Void War Tree, staves off hunger, and is full of life force. Eat it.”
The furball opened two eyes, blinked, and then pounced on the fruit to start munching away, looking just like Big Cat when it hugged a Fruit of Life bigger than itself.
The Goddess of Starfire's eyes crinkled up in a smile, affectionately stroking the Little Dimensional Beast's fur, and murmured to herself, “The Void Tree was once the Primordial God that supported the entire Void, even being the pillar of the Void itself. Its roots and branches spread throughout the entire Void, possessing infinite life force. Even its dim-witted War Giant Tree and the fruits it bore are delicious–perfect for filling one's belly.”
“Unfortunately, you don't grow from eating fruits, and I'm not skilled with dimension power, so I can't take good care of you. One of these days, I'll find a kind-hearted person to send you off with.”
The Little Dimensional Beast seemed to understand and turned around abruptly, blinking, then slumped down disheartened, no longer eating the fruit, and leaped onto the Goddess of Starfire's body, pulled open her collar, and burrowed into her tender cleavage.
“Oh, oh, oh, it's not that I don't want you…” The heart of the Goddess of Starfire melted as she consoled, “But you need the power of the dimension to grow, you won't get big with me.”
The Little Dimensional Beast twisted its head without lifting it, instead burrowing even deeper into the trench.
“Okay, okay, I won't send you away. I'll catch a bigger Dimension Beast and bring it back for you later, alright?” The Goddess of Starfire gave in, her brows raised and eyes smiling as she picked up the little fluff ball, holding it in her hand while moving the fruit closer to its mouth to feed it.
The Little Dimensional Beast hesitated, looking at the Goddess of Starfire to make sure she wasn't joking. Its eyes finally crinkled with a smile, and it took a big bite of the fruit.
As the Goddess of Starfire groomed the Little Dimensional Beast's fur, she chattered on, “Eat slowly, but not too slowly. The Dark Wing and the others are flying slowly. I need to figure out what's going on here before they arrive. This place must be special to have ensnared two Primordial Gods and one wild Ancient God, as well as devoured Alba's hundred thousand Chaotic Holy Spirits.”
Her muttering reached Little War Tree's ears, and naturally, it was also conveyed to Ange. Hearing what she said, everyone turned pale, and Negris quickly analyzed, “Primordial Gods? She just muttered that the Void Tree is a Primordial God. So, the Primordial God must be on the same level as the Void Tree. Who is it?”
A snake head popped out, “It's me, Little Snake. The Bone Dragon and I are both Primordial Gods. By 'ensnared,' she probably meant that we went missing here. I got beaten up by the Dragon God; it has nothing to do with how dangerous this place is.”
Everyone realized then, and Negris asked, “You're a Primordial God, so who is the wild Ancient God? Can Ancient Gods be 'wild' too?”
“It must be Nightmare Saya,” the snake head guessed. “By 'wild' Ancient God, she's probably referring to us who are without a Lord; those low-level Ancient Gods with no one to cover for us. So, when the Undead Ruler comes, we have to flee. The Dark Wing and her kind, covered by the Abyssal Big Mouth, can stay on the Chaos Plane.”
Drosa speculated with a hint of dejection in his voice. So, in the eyes of the Goddess of Starfire, gods like them are categorized as 'wild'? Such disrespect for Ancient Gods.
“So, she's just scouting ahead, and behind her, there are others like Dark Wing, and more than one? Who else might there be?” Negris hurriedly asked.
Drosa shrugged, “It's probably those Ancient God Hunters. Sigh, we're done for. Once the Ancient God Hunters take action together, and they specialize in hunting Ancient Gods, not even the Serpent of Misfortune and Bone Dragon are necessarily safe from their hunt. Sigh, why am I so unlucky, I thought I found… Should we just run?”
No one paid attention to him; their focus returned to the Goddess of Starfire.
Perhaps because she was lonely, the Goddess of Starfire petted the little fluff ball and rambled on for a good long while, spilling a lot of gossip among the Ancient Gods, which gave the others quite an earful.
Finally, the little fluff ball finished gnawing the two fruits, which were several times larger than its body, and it was time to leave. The Goddess of Starfire stuffed it back into her neckline, floated up slowly, and flicked out a rice-sized Crystal Stone, “Chaos Crystal, recognize it? Consider it payment for the fruit. You got a deal.”
Little War Tree stared in astonishment at the Chaos Crystal that floated before its eyes, and just as astonished at the already-departed Goddess of Starfire. It didn't recognize the crystal. Was it valuable?
It didn't recognize it, but Ange did, Negris did, and Drosa did too.
“Chaos Crystal? My God, is she insane to pay with that thing? Is her family rich or something?” Drosa exclaimed in shock.
Ange recognized it too; wasn't it a Chaos Black Crystal? Uh, it should correctly be called a Black Crystal, since it lacked those starry speckles. Could this thing even be used as money?
If that were the case, then what about the three-meter-diameter one they dug up from the War Giant Tree? Wouldn't it be extremely valuable?
Just then, the Goddess of Starfire who had floated away suddenly came back, reaching out her hand to swipe at the air, parting the grass not far from Little War Tree.
In the grass, a Big Cat's eyes widened in shock, staring fearfully at the Goddess of Starfire, as if it couldn't believe it had been discovered.
“Hehehe, speak of the devil, and he shall appear. Is this an adult Dimension Beast?” The face of the Goddess of Starfire brightened up with joy.
