Chapter 1107: Chapter 671: A Dull Pain… Chapter 1107: Chapter 671: A Dull Pain… “Elf Chariot, Void Treeman, Void Chimera… eggs? This is an egg? Isn't this just a tree burl?” Negris looked at the thing hanging on the Tree of Life and asked curiously.
The object that was supposed to be a chimera egg was indeed an oval-shaped burl. It could knock someone out if thrown–how could it be an egg?
Ange cocked his head and asked, “How do we hatch it?”
The God of Life, without looking up, replied lazily, “It requires the blessing of a Void Tree. I can't do it. Let Seedling take care of it.”
Despite the God of Life's longevity, if you considered rank alone, it was no longer a match for Little Sapling. It was just a World Tree, but Little Sapling had already become a Void Tree.
But no worries, the God of Life had formed a symbiosis with another Undead Godhood and had also created its own pathway between two worlds. One day, it too would evolve into a Void Tree.
Ange tapped Little Sapling on the head, pointed at the seeds and eggs, and immediately, Little Sapling sent out an enthusiastic message: grow—-strong—-
It was as if a switch had been flipped; the seeds and eggs, formerly inert, now burst forth with surging life force. Their gray-brown exteriors rapidly turned verdant green.
Negris exclaimed in admiration, “Just like with Magic Rice No.3, you need a blessing to activate it. Without Little Sapling, even if others got their hands on these seeds, they'd be useless.”
“This is what you call Bloodline Shackles,” Anthony mused. The ability to lock down bloodlines was truly amazing. If he had had such seeds before, he could have easily entrapped a bunch of competitors until they were fuming.
With the bloodlines activated, the next step was to plant them. When it came to planting, Ange was a pro.
In the Master Plane, within the Elf Forest, all the elves were shocked by the large crack that had suddenly appeared on the main body of the Tree of Life. They all gathered around, looking at it with anxious faces and whispering quietly, not daring to get too close.
“This is trouble, trouble indeed. The God of Life has been eaten by insects–such a huge hole.”
“What are you talking about? That doesn't look like insect damage at all. It's clearly a split. The God of Life is dying!”
“Ah? That can't be, right? How could the God of Life possibly die? It's the God of Life we are talking about.”
A wave of pessimism spread through all the elves until a horse's face poked around inside the hole.
“Eh? Isn't that Lightning from the unicorn family? Hey, how come its horn has grown back?” Lightning was infamous in the Elf Forest–having been chopped by the Elf Queen and expelled, and not even its overly protective mother had objected, which said a lot about its bad behavior. It was recognized by many at a glance.
Seeing that it was indeed the Elf Forest outside, Lightning perked up and leaped out, “It's me, it's me, hello everyone, your favorite Lightning is back!”
A squadron of unicorns rushed through the air, and Lightning's mother, upon seeing this, scolded him in a hurry, “Lightning, how did you come out of the trunk of the God of Life? Have you caused trouble again? Apologize to everyone right away.”
Lightning pursed its lips in dissatisfaction but didn't get angry. It had never understood why its mother also wouldn't inquire who was right or wrong upon arriving, instead scolding first, leaving it feeling aggrieved. This led to its rebellious attitude, resulting in its penchant for going against its mother's wishes.
But now it understood that its mother's approach meant seizing the moral high ground: I've already disciplined my child, so let's just forget about the mishap they caused, shall we?
But being constantly lectured left it feeling rather disgruntled, so today everyone decided to pass on the opportunity to put on airs and gave it to Lightning, allowing it to have a good time for a change.
Lightning slapped its own chest, crushing a hanging leaf there, and a streak of green light flowed out, a familiar scent spreading around.
“The God of Life! It's the God of Life!” This scent, deeply ingrained in their bloodlines, made all the elves present subconsciously drop to one knee, and Gailard and Kael'danil hurried off the unicorn's back, or transformed back into their humanoid forms, and also knelt on one knee.
Lightning's mother's forelegs went weak, and just as she was about to kneel down, she saw Lightning give her a meaningful glance. Though puzzled, she understood what the expression meant and hesitated before standing still.
Lightning spoke loudly, “This is a part of nature, following the changing laws of nature, we are now recruiting a batch of pure elves to go to the Divine Wood Continent to care for the artifacts left by the Void Elves. Those interested should register with Lightning, who will make the selection.”
If Lightning had been making these claims without any proof, even if it spoke eloquently, everyone might have had their doubts.
However, as Lightning spoke, the flowing green light also resonated with the will of the God of Life into the hearts of all the elves present, like a breeze blowing, flowers blooming, seeds sprouting–quiet and naturally optional.
Such a feeling could not be mimicked by anyone; only the God of Life could make everyone feel as though it were a natural part of life itself.
“Comply with the will of nature,” Gailard sang respectfully.
“Comply with the will of nature,” all the elves chorused in unison.
Only Kael'danil quickly slipped next to Lightning and complained in a low voice, “Why did you steal my job? Is this really the will of the God of Life? Or are you exaggerating and making things up?”
Having spent time in Goddess of Beauty City, Kael'danil was already very familiar with Lightning, Grolisa, and the rest, fully aware of their usual antics, and guessing that the God of Life had asked Lightning to 'find' people, then Lightning came back to 'baffle' people.
“Who told you not to stay close to Lord Ange and to please me? Otherwise, I wouldn't pick you to go,” Lightning whispered back.
Kael'danil immediately squeezed out a sweet smile, patting her chest, “Lightning, we haven't seen each other for so long, you've become even more handsome. Just say whatever you want, Auntie Kael'danil will give it to you.”
“Auntie Kael'danil, I haven't had the Fruit of Life for so long, I really miss the taste of the fruit,” Lightning 'agonized' in reply.
If Negris was here, she would definitely burst Lightning's bubble, knowing that Lightning ate the Fruit of Life the most, not even the Little Angel or Little Zombie needed to eat anything.
But Kael'danil didn't know this and immediately responded, “Auntie Kael'danil's quota is all yours, I'll pick some for you later.”
“That's great, how could the will of nature be without you, Auntie Kael'danil? The selection task is yours. Here's the situation: the God of Life has found a Void Tree in the Star Burst Plane and has discovered some seeds of the Void Elf Chariots and eggs of the Void Chimera. They want you to go there and take care of these plants. You pick some druids and farmers who know how to look after plants to go.”
Feeling elated after playing his part, Lightning quickly handed over the tiresome task of picking the people to Kael'danil, and at last added, “Oh, and the God of Life has formed a symbiosis with Lord Ange.”
“What?! The God of Life–” Kael'danil started to yelp in shock but quickly covered her mouth. Oh my, this news was explosive, with a huge impact. If she blurted it out right there, it would startle many of the elves. They needed a well-thought-out plan.
After delivering the message, Lightning was ready to sneak away, but before it could turn around, it saw its mother, with a smile that wasn't quite a smile, blocking its path, idly twirling a tree branch with her tail.
Oh dear mother, childhood traumas rushed to Lightning's mind, and it could already feel its backside tingling with imaginary pain.
PS: I'm stuck in quarantine; after five days of testing, I can't go out and can only feel at ease while typing away…
