Chapter 1097: Chapter 661 The Noble Lord of Two Realms Chapter 1097: Chapter 661 The Noble Lord of Two Realms Why did the Dwarf King understand? Because the dwarves had always been tormented by the Resource Curse. They were born to dig, stout and well-suited for underground activity, so as soon as they burrowed into the mountains, they could easily find mineral deposits.
No matter where mineral deposits are located, they are very precious resources. Being able to easily mine these resources, the dwarves had no inclination to develop other industries. Everything was purchased from the outside. Over time, even food, beverages, and clothing had to be bought, as they were unable to produce them themselves.
Successive Dwarf Kings felt that this situation was not ideal. Whatever they wanted to do, they had to be cautious, hesitant to quarrel with humans for fear of not being able to buy alcohol and thus losing their nerve.
Up to now, aside from forging steel furnaces, hammers and the like, they were unable to produce anything else, leading to a situation where, without humans, dwarves couldn't even survive (or drink).
Copper Hammer later met Silver Coin and, having heard that Silver Coin was particularly crafty when it came to swindling, he specifically asked about this and learned about the Resource Curse.
Although he didn't fully understand, it sounded very powerful. A powerful curse that arose from abundant resources. Oh, their dwarven race was cursed.
When Copper Hammer twisted the story like that, Silver Coin couldn't be bothered to correct him, and just said with a smile, “Exactly, you guessed it all right, you're so clever.”
Now that such a topic, once familiar to him, had come up in the conversation, of course, Copper Hammer was eager to answer.
Everyone was surprised by the crude Copper Hammer's unexpected use of such vocabulary. The phrases they were most used to hearing from him were 'drink,' 'I'm not drunk,' 'raising fish'…
However, everyone doubted the reliability of his words, and all eyes eventually turned toward Anthony.
Anthony gave an example, “It's as if a piece of land is so fertile that scattering a handful of seeds would grow crops, meaning there is no need to develop planting techniques or fertilizers. Over time, the people would no longer know how to plant. If one day the fertility of the soil is exhausted, those who can't farm will starve. This is called the Resource Curse.”
“Oh, I see.” The example was particularly clear and easy to understand for those under Ange's command; even the Little Zombie nodded in agreement.
“Alas, it's a pity, the power of Ancient Gods in the Chaos Plane is too strong, so strong that they no longer need any skills. Otherwise, we could invade and steal their Divine Power. Being passive like this is not good,” Anthony lamented.
Some who understood the situation nodded involuntarily. When they thought of the Chaos Plane, where beings like Nightmare Saya, Serpent of Misfortune, and Ancient Dragon God resided, technique and strategy seemed unnecessary, as a mere sneeze from them could kill creatures from their planes.
Drosa laughed, “That's what I think. You hide here too passively. It's better to be proactive, to go there and annihilate those Ancient Gods, like the Undead Ruler.”
Negris rolled his eyes, “Conning us into dying, wishful thinking.”
“It's not a con. As long as you learn to wield the power of Chaos, you won't be powerless against those Ancient Gods. If you can reach the Chaos Plane and plunder the power of the mist, you stand a good chance of breaking through your limits and becoming new Ancient Gods, just like the Undead Ruler,” Drosa said.
“New Ancient Gods?” All eyes turned to one another.
Drosa's words offered them a new shock, raising the possibility of plane creatures becoming new Ancient Gods.
“Is that possible? Plane creatures becoming Ancient Gods?” Anthony asked.
“Of course it's possible. Although I don't know how it's done, I know someone who has achieved it,” Drosa said.
Everyone took a deep breath, “Your Majesty, the Undead Ruler.”
Indeed, not only had he done it, but he was so dominant that others struggled to catch their breath. Even Drosa, an Ancient God herself, had to flee the Chaos Plane, afraid of being slain.
Anthony hesitated and said, “But we don't even know what Chaotic Power is, nor what Chaos Mist is. Is the power these Chaos Angels possess the Chaotic Power?”
Drosa replied, “No, this is the power of Dark Wing, that is, the power of Abyssal Big Mouth. These are all its offspring, wielding its power.”
With that explanation, everyone understood — Divine Power.
Drosa continued, “My true form will come from the Chaos Plane, bringing some Chaos Mist and power for you to research. I believe that with your capabilities, you will definitely be able to uncover the secrets of Chaotic Power and thus control it.”
“Your true form will come from the Chaos Plane?” Anthony glanced around at the people nearby, “Isn't that a bad idea? Where in our plane could accommodate your true form?”
Drosa was startled for a moment, quickly realizing that he had been targeted by everyone, and in his haste he shouted, “Don't attack, my true form can go to any location you designate.”
Luckily, he shouted quickly; otherwise, they would have attacked. Ange had already locked onto his God Status, ready to crush it at any moment.
“Do you really only intend to bring us Chaos Mist and power for research?” Anthony asked.
Drosa feverishly nodded, explaining, “Do you know why we, the Ancient Gods, despite being so powerful, seldom approach the planes? It's because leaving the Chaos Plane means losing a stable source of power. If we don't find enough power within a plane, we'll weaken, diminish, degenerate and never be able to return to the Chaos Plane.”
“Unless absolutely necessary, we wouldn't leave the Chaos Plane, because once we do, we might never be able to return,” said Drosa.
Negris slapped his thigh, “So that's why the Dragon God would regress and then give birth to the entire Dragon Clan. It couldn't return.”
Anthony also said, “The Serpent of Misfortune as well; as an Ancient God, it's essentially dead. The entity that's still alive now is just a restricted consciousness. If not for that, it couldn't have survived until now. Given its original colossal body, the consumption would have been too great, and it would have starved to death long ago.”
Thus, for an Ancient God to leave the Chaos Plane is a very risky affair, akin to a lone wolf leaving the bountiful grasslands to enter the wilderness; if not starved to death, it would be starved thin.
“Are you really taking such a big risk just to deliver Chaotic Power and Chaos Mist to us?” Anthony asked skeptically.
“Yes, I see hope in you. If you are capable of entering the Chaos Plane, when the time comes, just bring me back, allocate me a large territory, and have the Undead Ruler shelter me,” Drosa said.
The last sentence gave away his motive; he was seeking the protection of the Undead Ruler.
“I can't promise you the protection from the Undead Ruler, but the rest is doable. As long as you bring the Chaotic Power, and we figure out its secrets and enter the Chaos Plane, we'll definitely bring you back,” Anthony said.
Drosa didn't respond to him but instead turned to Ange, “Is that acceptable, respected Lord of Two Realms?”
Lord of Two Realms? Another title added to the list?
Ange nodded; after all, Anthony had already agreed. As long as it didn't interfere with his farming, it was fine.
They decided to send Drosa back to the Star Burst Plane so that his true form would go there to gather Chaos Mist. Compared to the Master Plane, the importance of the Star Burst Plane had diminished.
“Alright, now to deal with the remaining batch of Chaotic Holy Spirits. Little Snake has already led them around in circles for quite a while,” Negris shouted.
