Chapter 1069: Chapter 634 Want to Slack Off at Work? Chapter 1069: Chapter 634 Want to Slack Off at Work? Whenever Macor opened the airship in the plane, looking out at the white clouds through the porthole, he always had a feeling of anticipation or anxiety: Would someone pop up outside the window to greet me?
This situation had never occurred. Wizards were too lazy to fly above the clouds, and after entering the void, it became even less likely.
Despite this, the thought lingered, impossible to dispel. But when it suddenly became reality, the shock was immense, “Holy Undead, there's someone outside, a living person!”
After Macor rushed in, three goblins armed with crossbows charged out at Ange: “Don't move, hands up!”
Ange had already used soul scanning to examine the entire airship and realized it was just a Goblin Airship. There were no significant differences from the ones he had seen in the Master Plane and Star Burst Plane, just a few more small devices and components.
For instance, this airship had a huge telescope that was somewhat like Tyrone's Astrology Tower but smaller.
In addition to the telescope, there was a rudimentary Wind Element Absorption Array that could attract the Wind Element to form an air ball with a diameter of several tens of meters, enveloping the airship.
Beings that required breathing could normally breathe inside such a 'ball'. However, to be safe, everyone had a respirator hanging around their necks, ready to bite on if necessary.
Apart from these, it was an ordinary Goblin Airship without any powerful weapons like the Annihilation Sphere.
The most powerful weapon was the crossbow held in the goblins' hands. The crossbow was ordinary, but the arrows were not–each was an 'Arrow of Light.'
“How strange, isn't this Light Magic's Arrow of Light, solidified to be shot with a crossbow? What kind of technology is this?” Negris said in surprise.
These goblins clearly had no Magic Wave, yet they carried crossbows that could shoot Arrows of Light, a combination that was quite puzzling.
Light Magic is a very special kind of magic with very clear pros and cons. Its downside is the huge consumption; the advantage is its speed, as fast as Electric Magic, hitting the target almost instantly upon release.
But due to the high consumption, the casting speed is slow, making it easy for the enemy to predict and hard to achieve a lock-on hit.
As a result, it was rare to see professional Light Magic Mages. Most were part-timers from other magic disciplines who practiced supportive spells like the Illumination Spell or Flash Technique.
However, there is an exception with Light–that is Holy Light.
The Holy Light Magic of the Church of Light is based on Light Magic and has evolved by integrating 'God's Will.' It counteracts some of the shortcomings of Light Magic and strengthens some of its advantages, turning it into a particularly practical and flashy Holy Light that mesmerizes believers at a glance.
Ange's Holy Light Missile, Little Angel's Holy Light Flash, they all were devoid of the slow casting and huge consumption drawbacks of Light Magic. Holy Light Flash was a significant drain but also quick to cast, almost becoming Little Angel's 'starting move.'
After saying so much, the main point is that the Arrow of Light being launched by a crossbow is indeed mysterious.
Ange looked for a moment, then rubbed his fingers together, and an 'Arrow of Light' was formed from his fingertips, then he said, “Level One.”
“Level One? That's not an Arrow of Light, that should be called a Holy Light Arrow, though outsiders might not tell the difference,” Negris said.
Ange had clearly taken a shortcut by altering the form of Holy Light with his will, essentially the same in nature as the Holy Light Missile.
A Level One Arrow of Light was indeed too basic. Ange rubbed his fingers, and a Level Four Arrow of Light was conjured, first tossing the Level One Arrow of Light out of the airship and then flinging the Level Four Arrow out.
It struck the Level One Arrow of Light; boom, a bright explosion of light burst forth.
Negris was awestruck, “Is that an Arrow of Light? Looks more like an explosive fire! Definitely has the power of a Level Six explosive, and even stronger penetration. Kvada, creating Level Six explosive destruction with a Level Four Arrow of Light, when you can cast Level Nine Magic, even Truth Mages will have to steer clear of you.”
Ange cocked his head.
“Alright, alright, we get it, you're formidable. Even now, we would steer clear,” Negris said disapprovingly.
Ange rubbed his hands together, and thirty Level Four Arrows of Light were conjured at his limit within one second.
With a series of thuds, Ange turned to look, only to find that the three goblins were already kneeling weakly on the ground, having hidden their crossbows behind them.
Seeing Ange look over, the three goblins all put on the most humble smiles, “Welcome aboard, are you a Light Constructor? The exalted Lord Light Constructor, welcome to the airship. Macor was making a big deal out of nothing, we hope you won't take offense.”
Ange tilted his head, what Light Constructor?
“They seem to have misunderstood, what on earth is a Light Constructor?” Negris was also confused by this unprecedented title.
It had to be said, Ange's body language was too misleading, especially when he was expressionless, it was easy to be misunderstood, and these goblins had clearly misunderstood too, flusteredly saying, “Oh, oh, sorry, please come inside, it was so rude of us, please rest inside, my lord.”
Negris realized that the other party really was mistaken and hurriedly said, “Don't speak, just go along with what they say, try to find out as much information as possible.”
“Oh,” Ange responded in his mind, and stepped toward the cabin.
The three goblins carefully stepped aside, smiling and gesturing towards the Arrows of Light, “My lord, we will collect them for you.”
Ange had casually created thirty Level Four Arrows of Light, letting them orbit around him out of habit, but entering the cabin like this was a bit inconvenient. If the goblins hadn't mentioned it, he would have extinguished the Arrows of Light without a second thought as soon as he had realized.
Hearing the goblins' suggestion, Negris quickly said in his mind, “Let them collect it, see how they do it. Can the Arrows of Light even be collected? Like those arrows they use?”
The Arrows of Light used by the goblins clearly weren't made by themselves, meaning someone had stored Arrows of Light for them to use when needed. Could it be that they could also store these Arrows of Light?
Ange nodded and the Arrows of Light floated in front of the goblins.
The three goblins each took out an iron ring, split into two halves, and fastened it onto the Arrows of Light, which immediately retracted into the rings.
“How miraculous, what are these iron rings? They can actually seal Magic away?” Negris exclaimed in surprise.
The three goblins skillfully sealed away all thirty Arrows of Light and presented them respectfully in the palms of their hands to Ange.
Ange curiously took them, and as he picked up the iron rings, all three goblins simultaneously showed a look of regret and reluctance.
Seeing their expressions, Negris had an idea and quickly said, “Leave one for each of them.”
“Oh.” Ange placed one iron ring back into each of the goblin's hands.
The three goblins were overjoyed and hurriedly thanked him, “Thank you for your grace, my lord, please come inside.”
“A reward? They already have Arrows of Light, and the iron rings are their own, why call it a reward? Could it be because these are Level Four Arrows of Light, which makes them valuable?” Negris muttered to himself.
Stepping into the cabin, the goblin who had been urinating in the void stood to one side awkwardly, while the following goblin scolded, “Macor, you made such a fuss, it's the Lord Light Constructor who has come. Thankfully we didn't offend my lord, otherwise your life would be forfeit.”
Just then, the cabin's communication device suddenly went off, “Macor, Macor, why did you trigger the alarm? What happened?”
Clack! This goblin triggered the alarm? Trouble now–they were hoping to blend in a little longer to fish for some information, but they hadn't expected this goblin to react so quickly. Maybe they should just capture them all and coerce a confession out of them.
Negris was muttering to himself, preparing to tell Ange to grab someone when that goblin Macor suddenly responded to the communicator, saying, “Uh, this is Macor, I accidentally hit the alarm, turning it off now.”
“You hit it? How could you be so careless, and I even saw a flash over there, what was that all about?” the voice from the communicator asked again.
“Misfire, misfire, the light crossbow misfired,” Macor promptly replied.
“As long as everything's alright, just be careful.” The person on the other end did not probe further and hung up.
After the communication was cut off, Macor finally turned around, with a smile plastered on his face, “I'm sorry, my lord, I hope I haven't disturbed you. You can 'rest' here as much as you like.”
When he said 'rest,' Macor emphasized the word particularly strongly.
It took Negris a good while to catch on, “He couldn't possibly think you're some kind of Light Constructor trying to slack off during work hours, could he?”
