Chapter 1048: Chapter 614 Will the Evil God Hear My Truth's Murmur?! Chapter 1048: Chapter 614 Will the Evil God Hear My Truth's Murmur?! “This has to start with the energy source of the Starburst Array. Every time the Starburst Array gathers energy, the energy core will stack layer by layer and collapse toward an unknown place. The power of the Starburst Array comes from there.”
“His Majesty said that place is likely at the end point of the world's bind, telling me to maintain the balance of the void, otherwise, if the end point disconnects, he can't come back.”
“So, for these eight hundred years, I have been maintaining the balance. To be honest, I also don't know what constitutes the balance of the void, but these years, it hasn't collapsed, until last year, when the Undead Empire on the surface suddenly started acting up. When I went down to look, the avatar I left on the surface had long been taken over by the Evil God.”
“Having no other choice, I had to find a way to stop them. For the time being, I trapped them in the Annihilation Boundary. I didn't expect this was just a bait; their target was the Starburst Array. After I left, they activated the Starburst and fired a shot at the Master Plane.”
At this point, Anthony couldn't help but interrupt again, “Lord Locke, that's not right. You mean the Undead Empire launched the attack first, and you went to stop them, then the Starburst was fired? That's different from what we've heard. Everyone said that the Starburst was fired first, and then the Undead Empire launched the attack. The timeline seems off, doesn't it?”
Locke sighed, “It might be because I went there quietly, trying to figure out what had happened, and that's when I discovered Nock's betrayal. Nock is the one who was impersonating me as the Monarch, and it has been taken over.”
“By the time I came to my senses, the Starburst Array had already been fired. If nobody had activated it, it wouldn't have been possible for the Starburst Array to fire without my command, so I pretended that enemies were attacking, gathered some suspects, and took them all into the Annihilation Boundary with me.”
Everyone was speechless, looking involuntarily toward Radiad. The situation was so complex– if one went by Locke's account, it was entirely possible that outsiders who didn't know better could have confused the timeline.
Radiad was left behind, meaning he wasn't on Locke's list of suspects. Realizing this, the tension on his face involuntarily relaxed.
Locke continued, “Nock's being taken over, and the activation of the Starburst Array, proved two things: I screwed up, and His Majesty seems to have screwed up too. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult for the Starburst Array to obtain enough Faith Elemental Force to fire.”
Anthony concluded, “So, after you learned of the thirty million Light Expeditionary Army, you believed the tall tale we concocted, and simply handed the Starburst Array over to us, letting us find a way to maintain the balance of the void. Aren't you afraid that if the Church of Light controls the Starburst Array, His Majesty won't be able to return?”
“Of course, I'm not afraid. As long as I exist, His Majesty can return. I am the pivot point anchoring him to this world. Controlling the Starburst Array is just to ensure it doesn't fire at will,” Locke said.
“And then? After you handed the Starburst Array to us, where did you go?” Anthony asked.
“I originally wanted to go back to the Master Plane. I thought Feiti Durken had been captured by you, and I wanted to go back to see if I could save some, like the Witch and the Bronze Dragon–save as many as I could. But when I probed around, I found out that Nage had been captured too,” Locke said.
Feeling somewhat touched and curious, Negris asked, “You still remember us… How did you probe? By simply picking the same name, you figured it out? Couldn't it be what I saw in the Chronicles of Divine Realm Heroes?”
Locke responded irritably, “The Chronicles of Divine Realm Heroes didn't write your full name. His Majesty was afraid someone would call your full name and summon you over.”
Negris's mouth hung open, and he couldn't help but slap his own thigh.
Such a simple probe, and yet, back then, he had foolishly clung onto the Chronicles of Divine Realm Heroes. These traps must not have been set by Locke.
Looking back, he should find a copy to read. Probably, the Old Immortal had buried many traps in that book, just to differentiate those who might come from the Divine Realm. What he hadn't anticipated was the emergence of someone as unusual as Ange.
A man who only knew how to farm suddenly unified the Master Plane and plundered the God Status Divine Power, posing as the Church of Light, indistinguishable from the real thing by anyone.
Uh, actually, that's not incorrect. Whether it's divine power or style, Ange is indeed far more 'light' than the original Gods of Light.
Your Majesty killed his way through, and the Starburst Array never again invoked the power of the Star Burst until a year ago, when the Star Burst was fired anew.
This meant two things. First, Locke screwed up, as both the Undead Empire and the Sorcerer Alliance had been infiltrated by the forces of the Evil God. Secondly, it also meant that Your Majesty also screwed up as the place sending out the Star Burst energy resumed its power dispatch.
The main reason Locke began to give up on himself and find a scapegoat was the grand lie told by Anthony–the Church of Light unified the Divine Realm, the thirty million Expeditionary Army, Feiti taken captive.
This was completely different from what the Monarch and Locke had envisaged. Before His Majesty's consciousness was sent over, he had sent Locke and Feiti to annihilate the Gods of Light, precisely for fear of this scenario. How could it be that the Church of Light had unified the Divine Realm in just a short thousand years? What a joke!
This forced him to worry about the acquaintances in the Master Plane. With Feiti and Durken captured, what about the others?
Anthony's arrangement was too real. With two hundred thousand vanguards, two Supreme Holy Spirits, and a Pope in person, Locke had to believe it, even if he didn't want to.
Anyway, everything was messed up, so let the Church of Light take the blame, and head back to the Master Plane to rescue people.
“That's what happened. I didn't expect you guys were just pretending, sigh, doesn't that mean I've put you in a tough spot? Forget it, you guys withdraw, I'll let the Sorcerer Alliance take it back over,” Locke said.
Anthony pondered for a moment and then asked, “Can you hold on?”
Locke nervously said, “I guess so. I still haven't figured out what the deal is with the power sent by the Starburst Array. Those magicians talk about faith leaping, but I don't understand.”
“…” Anthony made a constipated face and after a long while finally asked, “Then, Lord Locke, now that you have laid claim to this skeleton, will you give it back to us?”
“Ah? Give it back? Why should I? This is Balu's bones, not yours,” Locke said in surprise.
“Err, you took the skeleton, and you don't give us the Starburst Array, doesn't that mean we are at a huge loss? Forget it, just hand the Starburst Array over to us.” Anthony, in effect, rejected Locke's suggestion of 'letting the Sorcerer Alliance take it back over' and then shifted the topic to:
“Tell me about this Evil God. Balu was seduced by the Evil God, and then this Nock was possessed by the Evil God, and so many from the Sorcerer Alliance were deceived. This Evil God is quite wicked. What exactly is its existence mode? Can't you just pull it out and kill it?”
At the mention of this, the flames in Locke's eyes flared up, and he glared angrily at Negris.
Negris panicked inwardly and quickly shrank behind Ange while complaining, “Why are you glaring at me? I'm not the Evil God.”
“You're not the Evil God, but that Evil God definitely has something to do with you. It knows your incessant babble, what's it called? Truth's Murmur, right? Babbling in people's ears all the time, and as they listen, they betray us,” Locke fumed.
Negris took in a sharp breath, “Truth's Murmur? The Evil God knows my Truth's Murmur? How is that possible? I haven't taught it to anyone, ah spit, even if I did, they wouldn't be able to learn it, it's my Divine Technique.”
