Chapter 1042: Chapter 609: Then We're Sure to Win Chapter 1042: Chapter 609: Then We're Sure to Win “`
“Eh? Projection?” Negris, which was projected onto Ange, said in surprise–was this not exactly the manner in which it had attached itself to Ange?
Projection and broadcasting are two distinctly different methods. Projection is sending one's power through a special method to another place, and depending on the distance and the sender's own strength, the power of the projection varies.
The most formidable, undoubtedly, is plane projection, which allows one's power to penetrate the barriers between planes and be sent to another world. Only those overwhelmingly powerful plane dominators could possibly accomplish this.
As for broadcasting, it is merely the projection of one's consciousness onto another object. What can be done through this depends on the abilities of the object that the consciousness is broadcasted onto. For instance, its Little Fat Dragon body is unbeatable, but it can still chatter away.
Apart from these two methods, there is another kind which currently remains unnamed because it is still uniquely the only one of its kind–the Undead King's consciousness projection.
The Undead King projected his consciousness here, established a fulcrum, and then summoned Locke's consciousness over. This method is different from projection and broadcasting; it's more like building a bridge, with travel back and forth between the two ends of the bridge.
Through this 'bridge,' Ange also projected over. Unlike his majesty and Locke, Ange was only a projection, but his thoughts, with the help of this bridge and fulcrum, have been able to bolster and restore a similarly powerful existence.
Ange's body in this world has now obtained Undead Godhood as well. With the power of the Undead Godhood, he can mobilize other god statuses, cast various divine techniques, and even perform the Dragon God Transformation.
In other words, Ange's strength in this world is almost catching up with that in the Master Plane.
Now, they have spotted another consciousness projection. The entity is projected onto that stele, which means that the stele is this apparition's body.
“Who is he? Consciousness projection is not for the average person.” First and foremost, consciousness projection requires a potent consciousness, which common folk hardly possess. One must be at least an Arcane Magician, Truth Mage, Plane Dominator, or similar.
Undead creatures have an innate advantage in consciousness, with higher-level undead beings possessing strong consciousness–could it be a competitor from the Undead Empire?
Upon retracting his thoughts and inquiring of the silver coin, he found out it was not. Instead, it was a seed player from the Sorcerer Alliance.
Seed players are given special treatment by the three major forces, allowing them to bypass the preliminary contests and directly enter the finals, with each faction granted two slots.
Unlike the seed selection contest for crops in the Master Plane, which is by invitation and, in theory, all contestants are seed players.
However, this world's crop contest lacks accumulation. No one knows who excels in farming or which families have high-yield crops, so an elimination process is necessary.
To attract people and create a sensational effect, the contest prizes are set very high. This, in turn, leads to many fraudsters and opportunists joining in hopes of trying their luck.
They could just grab a handful of seeds and claim they are high-yielding, and you would have no way to distinguish the truth. They have to be allowed to register first. At one time, the number of registered contestants reached several hundreds.
Among them are true believers in their own seeds and techniques, like druids, veteran farmers, and mages. However, many are there to try their luck, glean information, or stir the pot, requiring a preliminary selection to weed them out.
The screening is straightforward–let them plant a single seed in a large dirt box and place them altogether. Activate the Instant Death Halo Stone, and the crops will grow wildly.
Once the crops ripen, they will be harvested and weighed on the spot. The ten contestants with the highest yields will be picked to advance to the finals to compete with the six seed players from the three major forces–a total of sixteen people. They will compete in groups of four, with yield per acre determining the winner.
As the preliminaries are conducted in the presence of all contestants, the superiority of each seed is evident at a glance, leaving little room for objection.
“`
However, the quality could be discerned, but the exact yield remained unclear, leaving the suspense for the finals. Teams like “Plump” and “Sit in Rows” had all made it through the preliminary round.
With the conclusion of the preliminaries, those who witnessed the miraculous scene of plants growing rapidly and the noticeably higher yields of the high-yield crops, started spreading the word like mad after being eliminated. They disseminated what they saw through various channels.
Even those initially uninterested in the Grain Contest suddenly developed a strong curiosity, flocking to the site from all directions via the Teleportation Array, airships, and Magic Carriages.
Originally, it was the powerful call of the three major forces that attracted people, but now, it was genuine interest that was piqued, just to catch a glimpse of the “magical Magic Array” that matured the crops in just one hour.
Because of the limited space, each contestant only had five acres to cultivate, so the Instant Death Halo didn't need to cover a wide area, which correspondingly could speed up the pace.
At the same time, the Instant Death Halo was disguised as a Magic Array.
“So, this seed contestant was a last-minute addition by the Sorcerer Alliance? Wasn't it a different team that was initially registered?” Negris concluded after hearing Anthony's report.
“Yes, so I suspect there was something that changed the Sorcerer Alliance's decision and made this contestant named 'Black Eye Socket' suddenly decide to compete,” Anthony said.
“Black Eye Socket? What a strange name,” Negris exclaimed.
Anthony gave a weak smile: “Compared to names like 'Plump' and 'Stuffed,' this one isn't that peculiar.”
“That's true. What do you suspect made Black Eye Socket change their mind? They disdained it at first, then changed their mind, and upon deciding, they managed to replace the original contestant, which suggests they hold a high position within the Sorcerer Alliance,” Negris muttered.
“Instant Death Halo. It was after the preliminary round when he joined, and by then, the Instant Death Halo had been announced. Lord Anthony thinks the same,” Anthony continued.
After getting the details, Negris reported back to Ange briefly, but it was just in passing since Ange wasn't interested.
Time passed quickly, and the competition began. Sixteen contestants were divided into four groups, with four in each group, competing against one another based on yield for the ranking.
Although the preliminary round couldn't determine the yield per acre, the general level could still be seen, and everyone consciously chose contestants with similar outputs to be in the same group, competing from the lowest to the highest yield.
The first match featured all local contestants with native grains. The “Sit in Rows” team was in this round, and in the second match, teams “Plump” and “Stuffed” exploded into the news, as their yield per acre reached a staggering six to seven hundred pounds.
The competition was conducted under the public gaze, with a bunch of Mage Warlocks sitting in the front row watching the crops grow and then get harvested and weighed, making it very hard to cheat.
Therefore, the credibility of this yield was extremely high.
A yield of six to seven hundred pounds per acre was unheard of to the audience, who instantly had their expectations for the following two matches raised even higher.
Yet, the third match left them disappointed again. This round included two seed contestants from the Undead Empire, but the yield dropped back to three to four hundred pounds, which was normal, wasn't it? After all, wasn't the Undead Empire notoriously poor at growing crops?
All eyes then turned to the last match, featuring teams from the Sorcerer Alliance–Radiad God Worshipping Team and Black Eye Socket Team–as well as the Church of Light's Little Elf Team and Salted Fish Team.
When Ange stepped onto the field, Radiad suddenly looked over and loudly said, “I wonder if your grain yield per acre exceeds two thousand pounds. If not, then we've definitely won.”
