Dungeon Core Online 159 Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Chernobyl? Cherno-Yes!- Mutate a player utilizing radiation

Reward- 5,000xp, +1 radiation skill point

Zombieland- Create a zombie

Reward- 5,000xp, unlock undead skin for humanoid mobs

Rank Up!

And just like that, the gap between James and Blank closed even more. Because of those two achievements, James not only now had an additional radiation point to spend, which he was totally going to do, but he also had just ranked up. With that rank up, James was now a Rank 3 Tier 7 dungeon, while BLANK was still Rank 3 Tier 8. Part of James wondered if he would actually be able to take the top dungeon spot during this dungeon war.

"Ha." James took his moment of triumph in stride as he closed out all three windows that he had opened. Or at least, as best in stride as he could. That rank up meant he now had an additional skill point to spend on his tier three mobs and boss mob. And considering it looked like the players were back near the spawn zone, working to summon additional aid to the battlefield, he needed to act fast.

Already, he could see a group of players moving toward the boss totems, likely intent on summoning another boss mob to join the fray. Interestingly enough, it seemed that in theory, players could summon the same boss multiple times. That fact was evident to James, considering there was currently a 6-hour cooldown for the Terminus, and a 4 1/2hr cooldown for B.L.U. So, players could either spend their essence now, or save it, and try to use the Perfect Cognivore against BLANKs players once again.

"What do you think they're going to do?" James whispered to Rue, even as he began pulling up the different upgrade windows for Grandma Jenkins. Thanks to his increase, he had a skill point to spend on Grandma Jenkins. And if she was going to be used in the war, which he was pretty certain she was, he needed to upgrade her, to best suit the battle to come. If only he had an idea of what to expect. One thing he hadn't seen in the past two days, was BLANKs third floor boss.

"BLANK? Or your players?" Rue wasn't paying attention to James, or the players below. Instead, she was staring into the distance, where they had watched the zombie tumble into the fog of war. James had a feeling she was just as curious as he was with regards to that specific development. Could the zombies spread? Had he unleashed a zombie outbreak? It was definitely an exciting thought. Though one completely outside of his control now.

"Yes." James replied sarcastically. He could tell her attention had been momentarily pulled away. Of course, sarcasm was always the right answer when it came to vagueness or loss of interest. At least, that was what he was learning from Rue, sarcasm, and sexual teasing, were the best ways to get someone's attention. Great life lessons….

"Smartass." Rue turned her attention back to him, shaking her head with a devilish grin. See, totally works.

"Better than being a dumbass." James finished his upgrade for Grandma Jenkins. It had been a toss-up, but he had decided to go with a skill up called What Big Teeth You Have. It upgraded the attack power of Grandma Jenkin's mobs passively by 15percent, and another 5percet whenever Grandma Jenkins was on the field with them. Additionally, it seemed the mobs would get another 5percent increase in damage against any adventurer who was wearing red or had been touched by the thread of fate.

The other upgrade, which James had passed on, had been What Big Eyes You Have. Which would have increased the hit percent for the mobs by 15percent, with similar increases as What Big Teeth You Have. As of yet, James really hadn't seen many times when mobs missed adventurers. So, he figured the extra dps would make up for any missed attacks.

"If they're smart, I would say BLANKs players are either going to summon more boss mobs, or an Avatar. Then, if I were them, I would begin launching small attacks against the players, in order to slowly whittle down the enemy forces." Rue was glancing once again towards the fog of war, which James noticed seemed to be slowly moving towards them. What irritated him, was he was pretty sure only he and Rue could see it moving. He doubted his players knew that the enemy was slowly advancing on them.

That wasn't to say James's players weren't doing similar events. However, they did seem to be going about it in a different way. The vast majority of James's players were still in the spawn area, seeming to be setting up into different groups, guilds gathering all their members, and then a large group that seemed to be trying to organize something even larger.

If James had to guess, the large group in the center of the spawn area, with players holding what appeared to be leaflets, handing them out and shouting out orders to everyone, were probably the founders of the Adventurer's Guild. Those players, from what James could garner, were attempting to form multi-guild forces, to prepare to fight off BLANKs forces.

Which would be fine and all, if the people that founded the Adventurer's Guild actually knew what they were doing. However, a quick glance at their stats, told James they had absolutely no idea what was going on. Most of them were under level 10. As he and Rue had guessed…they had rushed to the town and used all of their building tokens in order to establish the guild, so they could just passively make money in the game. They were worse than casuals….they were just bureaucratic players. And, as it seemed they were realizing, players, dungeon divers, PvPers, were not going to listen to town builders when it came to war.

"That's what I'm worried about Rue." James saw a group of players break away from the masses. It was a squad of about 10 players, all of them in the low 20s. So, about average players for James's dungeon. What was different though, was it seemed each of them had used all of their essence to summon dickens. So, 10 players, with a total of 30 dickens flocking about them. Which, again, wasn't a terrible thing, considering the dickens scaled to match the level of the player that summoned them…So, 30 dickens that were in the level 20s range…with their stats doubled.

"I'm afraid BLANKs players are going to get the advantage early, which will put us at a big disadvantage, before we even get the chance to join the fight." That was the thing he realized about the third and fifth day of the dungeon war. It was a 24-hour period, with 10,000 players from both sides fighting, for a combined total of roughly 20,000 individuals. That was huge.

The fact the essence was split evenly amongst all the players early on, was rather dangerous. It meant players, like the bureaucrats, were given valuable essence points, that James needed players to spend on summoning him and Rue. Furthermore, the scope of the battles on day 3 and 5, meant there was a ton of essence to be earned, by either side.

The easiest way to earn essence for yourself, and your dungeon, was to kill a large number of players, quickly. Obviously, BLANKs players had tried to do that by summoning their secret boss. Fortunately, James's secret boss was summoned in turn, and the two countered each other. However, James had still lost more players in the exchange than BLANK had. Meaning BLANK was up on essence, at least for essence earned right now. He had no idea how much essence BLANK had started day three with.

If James's players didn't hurry up and act quickly, he was really worried that BLANKs forces would launch some new attack of their own. One that would give them an even larger lead. Especially because there was another danger at play in day three and day five of the dungeon wars. If a player was defeated on the FoB, and didn't get revived, then they were removed from the FoB. Meaning, the more players BLANKs forces killed early on, the larger a number advantage they would have against James's players. Which was something James needed his players to avoid, at all costs.

Rue flew over to James's floating orb and placed a calming hand atop his floating eye. At the same time, she motioned down towards the party he had been watching. It had grown, now from 10 players, to 50. What's more, it seemed even more players were joining them by the second. James watched, in horror and awe, as he saw a trio of players approaching the swarming group of dickens.

It seemed that as they approached, everyone around them turned their attention to the trio. Two of the players, James recognized easily. Granted, it would have been impossible for him not to, considering how much they normally stood out. It was the duo, FlashFyre and Axel42, the pet class players. They had their own group of dickens following them, though of course Axel42 seemed to have summoned even more using his summoner skills, while FlashFyre had a horde of skeletons following her.

It was the figure in the middle of them, and what he was riding, that made James pause. The figure was clad in heavy armor, making his already large, dragonkin frame, even larger. He held one Chainsword in his large hand, while another one rested behind his shoulders, placed between the two, red wings that sprouted from his back. While his visage wasn't that surprising, it was his mount that really sold everything. Instead of the normal dicken, that everyone was riding, this dragonkin, this… James paused to pull up his info.

Trogdor

Level 27 Barbarian Warlord

This Trogdor, was riding atop an infernal dicken. The 1 in 6,666 rare drop chance mob. Just how many dickens had Trogdor slain?
