/ Dream Star 275 Why?
She's weird?
He gently kissed her back and nodded.
"Well, what do you think happened afterward?"
From what he already said, "You had to turn to thievery?" Lila mumbled.
Haruka nodded, "Yeah," he took a deep breath, "It was difficult for me you know? I had nobody. When the old man found me, I was already on the verge of starving to death. Though I stole a few times before he came along, it wasn't on a serious scale. But after he left this world, I had to fend for myself. The streets of London aren't exactly the safest place to be if you don't have a roof over your head, shelter or food. With the lack of food, it was difficult for me to fight back once I got beat up," he trailed off, "Hey, don't cry already."
But Lila couldn't help it, just imagining him resorting to thievery to survive was hard enough. Haruka brushed his gentle hands on her eyes and wiped her tears.
"Your so kind to me Lila; I love you so much."
Um? Why did he confess? It's bad for her heart when he does that. But she wonders when, since when did this person become so important to her? "Me too Haruka, I love you."
"Mmm, we're getting distracted here. Well, I guess I can summarize the rest."
Lila pouted, "You can't skip the details even if I want to flirt."
Haruka chuckled, "I understand. But well, the rest of it is pretty obvious. I stole for survival. I joined underworld gangs - and no the gangs I joined aren't like the organized ones you know of. These gangs are brutal, even with a leader they have no morals at all and wouldn't hesitate to beat their own members let alone their leaders. The moment anybody shows weakness in the gang, high member or not they'll get kicked out but not before getting beaten to the point your limbs are broken."
"Did you---"
"Well yeah. I rose up the ranks pretty quickly. Many people were jealous and planned my downfall many times. The majority of the time they failed but once I befriended somebody, they used him against me. That person you see was the most normal person in the gang. Though he lived a brutal life, he only lived in this manner so he could earn money quickly for his family. He had a sister who was blind and hospitalized,'"
"Was?"
"Because of me, she died," Haruka paused, and Lila noticed how his face color had drained. Ah, she wrapped her arms tightly around him as she murmured, please... Please, why does Haruka have to suffer? Lila already knew where this story would end up. But she couldn't accept it. He already had to fight for survival. Why did he have to witness so many more deaths?
"She was a kind girl, and I went with my friend often to see her. I only saw her as a little sister type, but she confessed to liking me. Back then I had already slept with a lot of women, so I didn't think anything about her feelings. When she asked me out, I said yes, I didn't think anything of it. I took her first time, and she looked so happy. When I saw her face like that - I felt guilty. I didn't love her, I didn't hate her, but I knew there were no feelings of love. On the day I thought to break it off, Karl and I argued. Karl who safeguarded the existence of his sister for so long blurted it out on the spur of the moment. He told me, 'If it weren't for my sister liking you..' Somebody who didn't like me heard that, and then they did their research. They found her after they brutally raped her; they tried to kill her."
Lila didn't know what to say, though she predicted this outcome - it was difficult to swallow and accept. She's just a bystander and yet hearing this story is awfully difficult to her. This must just be one of many incidences, how many more? How many more secrets like this does Haruka have? Why him? Why she can't accept this.
"And then he jumped," Haruka said, Lila's eyes widened, "Then Karl jumped of the building. Once we heard of her death we rushed to the hospital; he didn't want to see her body, so I had to. It was in an awful state - Karl told me before he jumped off the roof, 'I knew it, you were cursed all along. You never loved her.' And he was right, I am cursed, and I never loved her. I pushed her to a corner, pushed him to a corner."
As he said these words, Lila noticed how badly he trembled. Ah, this isn't even the surface of his pain.
"When?"
"This was around when I was 14-15? I was in the gang since I was ten, so those people accumulated four years of hate."
But his age, then the following year...
"I met Yumeko afterward; she was the one who helped me get my life together. While I had lost everything, I somehow managed to get to Japan. Then this girl with her umbrella helped get me out the rain, and well you can pretty much guess," Haruka said, "I used her, with her families influence I somehow managed to settle my life - even if it was in the red light district."
It's unfair. It's unjust.
"So yeah that's pretty much my life from when I was ten till now. You already heard from the others what I was like after the incidence with Yumeko," Haruka trailed off, "Quit crying, I can't do anything when you cry," he brushed his lips against her eyes and licked her tears away, "Damn, sorry. But, you've never made this easier for me."
....
"Wait um, I need to hide."
Haruka chuckled, "Why hide my dear? I can see everything even if you do."
That's true; whether it's dark or light, she can't hide from Haruka anyway. Lila removed her hands and Haruka bends down to kiss her breasts gently. The sensation of his lips made her feel hot all over, "Unngh."
"Mmmm, just relax a bit."
Relax? But she's so nervous. However, this is Haruka; the man she loves is holding her. "Ahuh-"
"Don't hold your voice back okay?" Haruka asked.
Lila nodded.
Before anything else could happen though, there is a frantic knocking on the door. Haruka ignored it at first and continued to attack her neck with kisses, but then the sound of his phone interrupted them. Haruka reached over while he continued to tease her breasts with his fingers, but then paused, "Get changed, Lila."
Eh?
"The police are here."
Police?
