Chapter 1288: Chapter 1291: You are extraordinarily gifted and will surely have another child in the future Chapter 1288: Chapter 1291: You are extraordinarily gifted and will surely have another child in the future “Oh, I knew you weren't dead.”
Jacob glanced at Mason Scott, his tone steady and calm, as if he weren't at all surprised by his sudden 'resurrection.'
“You… you knew…?” It was only then that Mason got a clear view of the situation in the room.
The doctor, with a calm expression, and Lily Redington, who was leaning against the wall, covering her mouth with one hand and laughing so hard she couldn't straighten up.
“Yes.”
Doctor Richardson spoke indifferently, “The tubes aren't even inserted properly, and the ECG next to you isn't functioning normally. Your performance is even cruder than those unreliable TV series depicting hospital scenes. Tell me, as the Director of the ICU Department, how could I not see that?”
“I…” Mason was rendered speechless by Jacob's words but quickly regained his composure.
“Very well, I get it, you two are in this together! The both of you colluded to swindle me!”
“Grandfather, you shouldn't say that. We didn't swindle you–if you hadn't feigned illness in the first place, we wouldn't have resorted to this. We did it for your own good.”
Lily finally managed to stop her laughter and approached Mason with concern, “By the way, grandfather, how are you feeling now? Does your stomach still hurt? Don't be sad about the lost child. Rest assured, if you could conceive at over sixty, you'll certainly be able to do it again in the future…”
“You… don't think you can vilify me! Get out, you ill-bred cur! I'm a man, I wasn't pregnant, and I certainly couldn't have had a miscarriage!” Mason yelled at Lily, his face, which had been rather lifeless before, suddenly twisted in anger.
Lily, although insulted, wasn't upset and instead nodded, “Alright, I won't make grandfather angry anymore, then I'll leave.”
“Get out–get out of here–and you too, you're all in on this, you get out too–”
Mason, acting like a madman, started throwing whatever was within reach at Lily and Jacob.
The pillows on the bed, the blanket, the vase, and the fruit basket on the bedside table were all thrown out by him.
The tubes connected to the medical instruments were just stuck onto him with adhesive by Wendy Jenkins and her team for appearances.
But now, with his frantic movements, the tubes attached to his hands and body ended up dragging down all the medical devices beside him.
The clattering sounds echoed in the ward.
“I wasn't pregnant, I didn't have a miscarriage, I'm a man! It's you who set me up… all of you… I'll kill you all!”
While Mason was still roaring, Lily had just reached the door.
She glanced back at Mason and without hesitation, swung the hospital room door open.
Then, with a slight frown, she covered half of her face with her hand and trotted out of the ward.
While running she called out, “Grandfather, please don't be like this, calm down! If you lost a child, you can still have another one. You have a unique gift, I'm sure you'll be able to have more in the future… Please take care of yourself and don't get too upset!”
The reporters, who had already left the ward and gathered in the corridor outside, upon hearing this, swarmed back like flies smelling something tempting.
“What happened, what happened, has Mr. Scott woken up?”
“I thought Mr. Scott was in a coma and wouldn't wake up; how come he's awake now? Miss Redington, since Mr. Scott has awakened, could we interview him, please?”
“Yes, Miss Redington, let us in to see Mr. Scott!”
The reporters flocked over en masse, but thankfully the men Lily brought with her were worth several each.
Their towering stature firmly shielded her at their back, not letting the reporters touch her.
Sadly, Wendy Jenkins was left empty-handed. With all of Lily's escorts protecting her, nobody was left to take care of Wendy.
Isla Poem found herself alone and was immediately enveloped by the swarming reporters like a fly in a web.
