Chapter 1135: Chapter 1138: I am Aidan Lucas's wife Chapter 1135: Chapter 1138: I am Aidan Lucas's wife “Miss Lily, your grandpa might seem a bit intimidating, but he means no harm, so don't take it to heart. Come on, let's continue… You said that Tania and Aidan Lucas's arranged marriage cannot succeed, why is that?”
The old man was smarter than Mason Scott; he knew that with Lily's identity as the heiress of the Reddington family, she absolutely would not spout such a clumsy lie.
Therefore, he focused all of his attention on what Lily had said.
“It's quite simple,” Lily said, “because Aidan Lucas is already married, and I am his wife.”
“Ha ha… Ha ha ha…”
No sooner had Lily's words fallen than Mason Scott suddenly burst into wild laughter.
“You're Aidan Lucas's wife? Ha ha… That has to be the funniest joke I've ever heard.”
“Who doesn't know that Aidan Lucas's wife died in the bombings long ago, and now he is a single widower with only a son left. You say you're Aidan Lucas's wife, how can you utter such a blatant lie!?”
The bombings that had happened back then involved the Presidential Palace and the Lucas family's struggle, so they had caused a huge uproar.
Almost everyone who mingles in the upper-class circle knew about this incident.
Seeing Mason Scott laugh so arrogantly and mockingly, Lily couldn't help but raise her eyebrows.
“But that's the truth, if you don't believe it, then forget it,” she said.
After all, she had said what needed to be said; it wasn't her who would be embarrassed.
Mason Scott didn't believe her, and Wendy Jenkins was even more scornful in her heart, mocking Sylvia Scott's adoptive daughter for not being as deep as her own protege, Tania Scott.
Larry Scott couldn't be bothered with the mess between Mason Scott and Tania Scott.
But Mr. Scott sensed something was off.
Miss Lily's identity did not require her to spin such a tale.
After a moment's contemplation, with a serious expression, he spoke to Mason Scott, “I believe what Miss Lily said. Mason, call Tania back. She is not permitted to go to the appointment tonight.”
“What!” Mason Scott looked utterly baffled, “Dad, you can't–”
“If I say go, you go!” the old man exerted his authority, “Call Tania and tell her to come back right away!”
Overwhelmed by his father's command, Mason Scott took his cell phone and dejectedly left the restaurant.
After a while, he returned.
“Dad, I've already called Tania. She said they've just started doing her hair, and she'll come back once it's finished.”
“Hmm,” the old man grudgingly eased his expression upon hearing this.
And then, he turned his attention back to Lily's words.
Having the backing of the Reddington family and the head of the Lucas family, no wonder this child was not at all afraid of her grandfather.
With that kind of strength, she should indeed have that confidence.
Mr. Scott thought for a while, now was not the time to reveal Lily's identity, but at the very least, after the child had left, he had to give Mason Scott a good talking to.
He couldn't let him continue to oppose his son, daughter, and granddaughter.
Beyond that, Mr. Scott's attitude towards Lily became increasingly kind and gentle.
Thanks to Mr. Scott's tilted stance, the meal proceeded amicably without any conflicts like the one earlier.
After dinner, Lily stayed with the old man for a while before taking her leave.
“Miss Lily, come and visit when you have time, come see your great-grandfather more often.”
“Don't worry, great-grandfather, I'll definitely come to see you more,” Lily assured with her words, though in her heart she thought otherwise.
At least, unless it was necessary, she had no desire to visit the Scott family.
Yet Mr. Scott was cheerfully fooled by her, escorting Lily all the way to the Scott family's front gate.
After sending off Lily, the old man immediately summoned Mason Scott and Wendy Jenkins.
In the study room, he sat across from the couple, his eyes closed, his expression stern.
Isla Poem waited obediently for the old man to speak, not daring to utter a word.
But Mason Scott couldn't help but ask, “Dad, what did you want to talk to us about by calling us here?”
