Chapter 4423: Beyond The Second Sword Intent
Tanya wiped the tears from her eyes and sheathed her sword, the pristine shine of the icy sword blade gleaming under the bright sky.
Natalya and Bing Luli saw that it was a work of art. The icy-silver sword in her grasp possessed a silver hilt, but its blade was completely made of ice. Its shape was extremely refined and intricate, imposing but still crafted with love. Moreover, the icy blade had beautiful and artistic words etched onto it.
[To my personal disciple, may this sword light your path with fondness]
They couldn't help but smile.
What they read was a gift, but it was capable of utter destruction.
Natalya pouted, “You really stayed here for two years to comprehend the sword art left behind in this ice wall?”
“I did.”
Tanya nodded as though it was a matter of fact, “I reached Level Two Obscuring Intent in Imposing Sword Laws thanks to it.”
Both Natalya and Bing Luli looked shocked, “When did that happen?”
“Six months ago. However, this sword art is more profound. It took me more time to comprehend the intricacies behind it and incorporate it into my sword art. Now, my Frigid Veil Sword Style is even more powerful. When using my sword energy, I can go eleven levels higher but that is beyond the layer limit. I'd be sent out in an instant, and it would be brutal judging by the accounts of how people were sent out.”
“Indeed. If the power unleashed is more, the stronger the backlash.”
Natalya sighed, “But to think you already comprehended Level Two Obscure Intent in Imposing Sword Laws. What does it entail?”
She asked with curiosity.
Tanya smiled. Having come here, she learned a lot of things. She also met with other icy or illusory sword cultivators who shared some information with her.
“According to the other sword cultivators, it seems like Elementary Obscure Intent is called Sword Focus. It is achieved when one is able to focus the sword or with the sword to the utmost limit, bringing about the maximum force one could bring when swinging the sword.”
“Oh-” Natalya nodded, “You always look incredibly focused when attacking. No wonder you were able to learn it.”
“That is something every sword cultivator looks like in order to maintain a ready stance or purely to pose.” Tanya giggled lightly.
“Focusing fully is incredibly hard to do. It consumes our psyche like we're dual… you know.”
“Ahaha~ I sure know.” Natalya nodded.
“…” Bing Luli.
“Next is the Sword State, the Level One Obscure Intent of Imposing Sword Laws. Here, it is said that one needs to understand the sword and be one with the sword- when holding it, swinging it, or even making the slightest move. The sharpness is what changes from the previous intent.”
“I see, I see~” Natalya eagerly listened, “What's next?”
Tanya smiled lightly, “The fabled realm of Sword Heart, the one you would even hear in myths.”
“…!” Natalya and Bing Luli felt some goosebumps.
Even they had heard of it as little children. It was nothing more than a myth, or was until Tanya now said otherwise.
“To gather the Will of the Sword and become the sword itself~”
Tanya grabbed the hilt of her sword.
At that moment, Natalya and Bing Luli's heart dropped.
It was as though the space, the heaven and earth energy around them turned into minute strands of sharp swords. Their neck felt cold, making them feel like Tanya wouldn't even need to move their heads to lop their heads off.
Only after Tanya let go of the hilt did they feel like they could breathe.
Tanya turned to look at the wall of the ice mountain.
“This sword cultivator reached that level, so because of becoming the sword itself, they were unable to let go. The Forsaken Yin Lotus Manual then killed them in the next stage.”
“…” Bing Luli turned to look at Natalya, understanding Tanya's intent.
Tanya also returned her gaze to Natalya.
“Natalya, are you really fine? How come you are so nonchalant about practicing this terrifyingly cold manual? Are you not afraid? Are you not hesitant about moving forward?”
“Not one bit~”
Natalya answered. Her lips curled into a faint smile.
“I feel as though this manual is tailor-made for me.”
But she instantly raised her hands and shook, “Of course, I don't mean the original records. There are parts where I modify it to suit myself. The truth is- I find it so easy that I feel like the manual is wrong in its essence, as though someone had changed it to suit their willful needs.”
“I see…” Tanya nodded.
“Willful?” However, Bing Luli blinked, “Isn't this manual about forsaking even oneself?”
“That's what everyone says, even the inheritance spirit. But if you turn the manual back on itself, you will see that there's a strange willfulness to make everything go their way. Don't you think forsaking even oneself is extremely selfish?”
“…?” Bing Luli couldn't understand.
Natalya also pouted, “I can't explain well. My understanding is simply a feeling, and to put it simply, the universe gave you your life, but you are willful enough to say that you don't want it yet still advance without feeling a hint of gratefulness, being detached from the myriad of things the universe offers?”
“…!?” Bing Luli raised her brows.
For a moment, she felt like she understood it, but then her frown only deepened.
It was almost like she was learning an advanced concept of yin-yang.
“Where's Pia?”
Natalya shrugged before she asked Tanya.
Tanya patted the sword hilt, “She's nurturing it.”
Natalya and Bing Luli were shocked.
Their hearts shook as they could tell the sword had been upgraded to Empyrean Grade. However, it was now apparent that there was a sword spirit within. Pia seemed to be nurturing it with her yin attribute, which meant the ice sword spirit would only grow stronger.
Natalya's lips moved, “Say, the sword spirit will also learn Imposing Sword Laws, right?”
“Yes, it had awakened and learned Imposing Sword Laws after a short period of time, later reaching Level One Obscure Intent eight days ago…” Tanya revealed calmly.
Her words left Natalya and Bing Luli speechless.
“In that case, wouldn't its prowess alone be…”
Tanya nodded, “Yes, its prowess is nearly four levels higher. As it is a peak Mid-Level Empyrean Grade Sword, it's also near the layer limit. Together… I can go further.”
“It-it's a legendary sword…!” Bing Luli exclaimed.
