Chapter 454: Chapter 453 Judgement Ceremony (V) Chapter 454: Chapter 453 Judgement Ceremony (V) Just as Nobiru and Alfred began their battle, the Red Armored Warrior also locked onto Natsuse, who was floating not far behind Aohara Nobiru.
He raised the greatsword in his hands and bellowed angrily. Soon, raging, crimson flames burst forth from the Red Armored Warrior's greatsword, then swirled around his body. In an instant, those flames coalesced into a pair of giant dragon wings behind him. A phantom Giant Dragon made of blazing flames emerged from behind the Red Armored Warrior, as if merging with him.
“Oh?”
Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng couldn't help but be startled, and the reason was simple – the move used by the Red Armored Warrior before him felt eerily familiar. If he remembered correctly, he had seen a similar battle technique before. It was during the examination ceremony at the White Tower, and if his memory served him right, this should be a profession known as a Wild Hunt Sorcerer.
However, the Miss Hailien he had traveled with before clearly wasn't as powerful as this Red Armored Warrior. At best, she was apt at wielding her greatsword to strike at the backlines, but what he was seeing now seemed to be the true battle form of a Wild Hunt Sorcerer.
“Death's Embrace!”
At that moment, the Red Armored Warrior roared, with the fiery wings behind him flashing brightly. The next moment, he pounced toward the sky, aiming at Natsuse, and swung down his greatsword without any hesitation. Simultaneously, accompanied by a faint dragon's hum, a torrent of flames akin to Dragon Breath spewed forth from the greatsword, lunging towards Natsuse.
Yet facing the fierce onslaught of flames, Natsuse's face showed not the slightest ripple of concern. She coolly eyed her opponent, then extended her right hand forward. A blue barrier suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking the incoming flames.
Then, Natsuse clasped her hands together, and dazzling psionic lightning burst forth between them, transforming into a light beam that whistled through the barrier, heading straight for the Red Armored Warrior.
In response to Natsuse's attack, the Red Armored Warrior immediately reversed his greatsword to guard in front, while the giant phantom dragon composed of flames behind him also abruptly raised its head, releasing a scorching wave of flames towards the lightning. Psionic lightning and waves of flames collided with a roar, setting off a series of blinding explosions.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, I didn't expect the little girl to be so formidable.”
But while the intense light provided cover, the Half-Elf Ranger silently skirted to Natsuse's side, raised his longbow, and aimed at the levitating Natsuse. He narrowed his eyes, revealing a cold smirk.
“However, it's a pity, little girl, you are still too young. Let me show you what real combat is…..”
But before the Half-Elf Ranger could finish his sentence, suddenly, he caught a glimmer of light emerging from afar out of the corner of his eye.
What was that?
“BOOM!!!”
Before the Half-Elf Ranger could react, the ground at his location exploded. Dust scattered in all directions, and right after, one could see the disheveled figure of the Half-Elf Ranger darting out from the midst of it.
What happened?
At this moment, the Half-Elf Ranger was completely devoid of his previous smugness. He was soot-blackened from head to toe, with even the edges of his cloak frayed by explosions. It was fortunate that they had obtained sufficient magical equipment for protection from the representatives of the Land of Wealth before the battle began. Otherwise, that one strike would have been enough to send the Half-Elf Ranger packing back to his homeland to wed!
Was he attacked by someone?
The anxious Half-Elf Ranger found this completely inconceivable. As a renowned Master Ranger, he certainly hadn't forgotten about counter-surveillance and being vigilantly aware of stealth and long-range attacks. In fact, just before he was about to strike at Natsuse, he'd already covertly communed with the surrounding plants using his Elven abilities, confirming there were no other enemies nearby, which allowed him to lower his guard and attempt to launch an attack at Natsuse.
But to his surprise, he had been attacked?
This made the Half-Elf Ranger feel as if he had seen a ghost, for his ability could cover any plant life within an 800-meter radius. If there was an enemy within this distance, it was impossible for them not to have been detected by him. Moreover, any attack from beyond this range would normally be ineffective against him.
Of course, long-range magic attacks were not included in this, but because of the special nature of his Elven bloodline, he would have keenly sensed elemental fluctuations around him and become alert if there genuinely was magic targeting him.
To elude his vigilance, the attacker would have to be of Legendary Rank at the very least!
But….. this battle did not permit Legendary Powerhouses to participate!
So, what exactly was going on?
Just as the Half-Elf Ranger was perplexed, his eyes once again caught a fleeting glimmer of light.
There it is!!
This time, the Half-Elf Ranger didn't let his mind wander. Almost as soon as he saw the flash of light, he sprung up like a tightly wound spring and quickly dodged to the side. Time seemed to slow, but just less than a second after the ranger had moved, the spot where he had been standing exploded!
This isn't magic!!
Looking at the small crater that had been blasted into the ground, the Half-Elf Ranger was greatly shaken. With his keen half-elf sight, he had clearly seen the true nature of the weapon that had attacked him–it looked to be about half a finger's length, similar in appearance to a Magitech Cannon Shell.
The Half-Elf Ranger was no fool, and upon seeing this object, he immediately understood how his attacker had hit him. Clearly, his enemy possessed a weapon similar to a miniaturized Magitech Cannon, which they had used to launch a long-range attack from a hidden location.
What frightened the Half-Elf Ranger the most was the range!
On this continent, even the most powerful Magitech Cannons had a range that didn't exceed one kilometer. However, the Half-Elf Ranger was certain that his assailant had attacked from a distance of around one and a half kilometers!
What kind of monster was this! The Half-Elf Ranger hadn't felt any magical lock-on, which meant that the enemy wasn't using magic but had taken direct aim at him using line of sight–from one and a half kilometers away? Was this a joke?
Moreover, when he was under attack, the Half-Elf Ranger didn't sense any killing intent, which suggested that the enemy was not only a top-notch shooter but also a top-notch assassin. Only a top-level assassin could completely conceal and eliminate their killing intent.
This couldn't go on!
In an instant, these thoughts raced through the Half-Elf Ranger's mind, and without hesitation, he rushed into the forest and hid behind a giant rock. The current situation was very unfavorable for him. He didn't know if the enemy could lock onto him this way, but he had to cover for his companions. The Half-Elf Ranger was sure that if he didn't draw the enemy's attention, then they would target the Red Armored Warrior. Given the threat level demonstrated, if the Red Armored Warrior faced the pincer attack of that young girl and this unknown hidden enemy, it would be disastrous!
And not to mention Alfred–no, not good!!!
In that moment, the Half-Elf Ranger almost clumsily rolled on the spot and frantically distanced himself from the giant rock. No sooner had he moved away from the rock than with a loud “boom,” what had been his cover was instantly shattered into pieces, and the spot was left with a large crater.
“Why does this attack feel even more powerful than before?”
Looking at the large pit billowing with black smoke, the Half-Elf Ranger felt his scalp go numb. The ease he'd felt at the beginning of the battle had been completely cast aside. Now, he felt he was facing the most difficult enemy of his life!
He had to come up with a plan!
With that thought, the Half-Elf Ranger hesitated for a moment, then he suddenly stretched out his hand in a gesture. Quickly, a verdant talisman appeared on his forehead, and his body rapidly began to shapeshift. In the blink of an eye, the Half-Elf Ranger transformed into a black panther, then with a roar, he dashed into the depths of the forest like lightning.
“Lock on target.”
Crouching on a tree branch, Tina squinted as she watched the distant forest. The sleepy look she had earlier had vanished, leaving her cute, delicate face to reveal a cold and sharp demeanor, as if hunting prey.
“Load Bullet No. 3.”
Murmuring to herself, Tina reached to her waist, took out a red bullet, and loaded it into the sniper rifle. She pulled the bolt forcefully, aimed ahead once more, and then, without hesitation, she pulled the trigger.
“Boom!!”
The next moment, roaring flames exploded, spreading rapidly through the forest.
