Originally, the “Cursed Children” would become creatures because, after the erosion rate exceeded fifty percent, the Intestinal Virus would erode and fuse with the human parts inside the “Cursed Children”. Mirune's method intended to enhance the human part of the “Cursed Children”, thereby suppressing and taking the initiative in the fusion process.
This would result in the “Cursed Children” merging with the Intestinal Virus, rather than being overtaken by it.
However, this also had a flaw.
If the “Cursed Children” truly merged with the Intestinal Virus, then when they unleashed their power, their bodies would exhibit mutations influenced by the virus. For instance, Fumie Busei, infected by the cat-type Intestinal Virus, would develop features like ears and a tail after the merger. And it's likely the same for other infectees.
