She grimaced in pain, feeling extremely dry and parched.
“I want to drink water…”
The person in her arms moved, startling Qin Sijue who was half-asleep; until now, his strong arms were still wrapped around her, starting to feel numb.
As he opened his narrow eyes, the first sight was Gu Qiangwei's pained expression as she furrowed her brows.
Then, his gaze fell on her cracked lips.
“So thirsty…”
Her eyelids were too heavy, and for a moment, Gu Qiangwei simply couldn't open her eyes.
Hearing her muttering, Qin Sijue gently withdrew his arm that was cushioned under her neck and moved a bit.
Then he turned over, got out of bed, quickly poured a glass of water, and brought it to her parched lips.
After drinking several sips of water, the sleepy Gu Qiangwei managed to slightly open her eyelids.
By then, her head was much clearer, and the drunkenness had subsided.
As she lifted her eyes, they met a pair of deep, dark pupils, and she couldn't help but be slightly startled.
This man was too perfect; sometimes, she felt like she was in a dream.
Realizing she was still partially cradled in his arms, Gu Qiangwei quickly sat up straight, looked up at him, and suddenly felt a bit shy.
“Awake?”
She nodded, “Mhm.”
“Don't drink so much next time.” His voice, like trickling water, sounded especially pleasant and melodious in the quiet night, but it carried a thick note of displeasure, which Gu Qiangwei didn't fail to notice.
Angry?
Subconsciously lifting her gaze again, she glanced at his handsome and composed face.
Right, how did she get back here?
Her clear eyes once again rested on his face; through the haze, she seemed to recall seeing Qin Si enter the private room she was in?
So, was it he who brought her back?
She had been rescued by him once again.
“Thank you… for saving me again.”
“You're my wife, who else would I save?” He looked at her downcast face and spoke quite matter-of-factly.
It caused another illusion for Gu Qiangwei.
“But I am only fake—”
“It's late, go to sleep!”
Before she could finish her sentence, Qin Si suddenly rolled out of bed and laid down on the sofa in the bedroom.
Watching him close his eyes lightly, Gu Qiangwei was still a bit startled.
She looked at the man and then at the two-meter-wide bed; was he planning to sleep on the sofa?
Uh, it seemed like she had taken over the bed…
“I'll go sleep in the guest room then.” After all, this was his master bedroom, and Gu Qiangwei felt a bit embarrassed as she uncovered the blankets and planned to get out of bed.
“Do you want all the servants to know you're just my fake wife?”
From the sofa, the man suddenly opened his eyes, lightly lifting his lids and staring at her, who was about to get out of bed.
At his words, Gu Qiangwei froze, lifted her eyes to meet his deep gaze, and was briefly flustered.
Although their marriage was a sham, inside this house, they were ‘truly' married!
If she went to sleep in another room, it would indeed seem a bit improper.
“Then you sleep in the bed, and I'll take the sofa.” She said, flipping off the covers, and attempting to get out of bed again.
“How about we sleep together?”
“…” What?
She halted mid-motion once again, startled as she looked up at him.
He lay there with a relaxed posture, his voice not revealing how much truth was in his words.
It must be a joke, right?
Qin Sijue gave her a glance and then closed his deep-set eyes again, placing his hands behind his head, pretending to sleep.
Looking at his sleeping figure, his handsome facial contours were distinct.
