Chapter 997: A Card from Another World
Chapter 997: A Card from Another World
"Revive Netherfrog from the Graveyard!"
The small frog with a golden halo atop its head flew back onto the field, flapping its wings as it landed.
[Netherfrog, Defense: 100]
Yeshen said, "Next, I'll activate the equip magic card, 'Sacrificial Offering.' I'll equip it to Netherfrog.
When a monster is equipped with this card, it can be used as two tributes for a higher-level summon." (Original card)
The equip magic card appeared behind the field and attached itself to Netherfrog. Now, Netherfrog could be used as two tributes with just one card.
Yeshen continued, "Then, I'll activate the continuous magic card, 'Underworld Scroll.'
As long as this card remains on the field, whenever I use two or more tributes for a higher-level summon, I can draw two cards from my deck!"
Jou said, "This setup and preparation... you're gearing up for another higher-level summon, aren't you?"
You Bei said, "But his key card is already in the graveyard. Even with 'Sacrificial Offering,' Netherfrog can only serve as two tributes, which isn't enough to summon a god."
However, Yeshen suddenly burst into laughter.
"You seem to think my ace is only a god", Yeshen said. "But I told you, my deck draws power from more than one world, beyond your imagination!
I'll tribute Netherfrog and the 'Sacrificial Offering' equipped to it as two tributes! Higher-level summon!
The origin of the planetary series—
—Supreme Sun!!!"
Jou exclaimed, "!?!"
Supreme Sun!?
In the next moment, they indeed saw a blazing sun rise from the horizon, but this sun was pitch black. It hung high in the sky, burning with dark flames, and finally transformed into the imposing form of a giant, landing on the field. The flames behind it were as dark as ink.
[Supreme Sun, Attack: 3000]
Jou couldn't help but say, "Youxuan's Sun... why is this card here!?"
While Netherfrog was a common card, the concept of a sun was entirely different. Supreme Sun wasn't just a rare card; it was one of the nine unique "Planetary Series" cards, each one a limited edition rarity.
Jou knew the ownership of this card. After the defeat of Tragedy the Lobster, Supreme Sun had ended up in Youxuan's hands.
"This can't be", Jou muttered. "Could it really be as he says..."
Is it from another world?
What kind of world? A fairy dimension?
Jou's knowledge was far from ordinary. He had visited many dimensions and immediately thought that perhaps a fairy dimension might have the Planetary Series cards. It was possible.
In his world, everyone knew that there were only three Blue-Eyes White Dragons and one Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, all in the possession of Kaiba Seto. However, studies suggested that this was only true in their known world. In fairy dimensions, there might be more Blue-Eyes White Dragons.
For example, the fairy "Justice Partner - Kaibaman" had at least three Blue-Eyes and one Ultimate Dragon.
But for some reason, Jou instinctively felt that the other world Yeshen spoke of might not be just another fairy dimension.
Perhaps Yeshen was talking about a true "different world."
"Because the superior summoned 'Supreme Sun,' the continuous magic 'Underworld Scroll' is activated", Yeshen said. "I draw two cards from my deck."
Yeshen drew two cards and immediately revealed one from his hand.
"I activate the continuous magic 'Black Sun.' When my monster is destroyed, I can recover LP equal to the destroyed monster's original Attack Points. Additionally, when a monster is Special Summoned from the Graveyard, its Attack Points increase by 1000!"
The 'Black Sun' card has been accurately recreated, and its effects are largely faithful to the original. However, the real card restores "original Attack Points" when a monster is destroyed, while the original version restores "current Attack Points." The real card also has an additional effect: if the player discards a magic or trap card from their hand, they can add one discarded magic or trap card back to their hand. This effect is not present in the original.
From its name and effects, it's clear that this card is designed to work in tandem with 'Supreme Sun,' which has the ability to repeatedly return from the Graveyard.
"Supreme Sun, attack 'Elemental Hero Clayman!'"
Yeshen shouted, and 'Supreme Sun' unleashed a blast of dark flames. The black flames enveloped the clay-bodied hero, and the four-star hero, unprepared for such a powerful attack, quickly shattered and was reduced to a mass of black ash.
"I told you, once you step into my territory, no matter what special abilities you have, you have no chance!"
Yeshen laughed maniacally.
"I place one card face-down in the back row. My turn ends!"
Jou waved away the acrid smell in front of him and said, "I remember 'Supreme Sun' has the ability to revive from the Graveyard during the next turn's Standby Phase."
You Bei added, "And Yeshen's own body is in the Graveyard. If Yeshen revives, he can activate the effect that clears the entire field."
If Yeshen revives from the Graveyard like he did last turn, triggering the effect that clears the entire field, and then 'Supreme Sun' revives during the next turn's Standby Phase, it seems that 'Supreme Sun' and Yeshen's revival ability are perfectly complementary.
"One clears the field, and the other acts as an undying enforcer", Jou said. "That's a terrifying combination indeed."
Despite his words, Jou's face betrayed a hint of anticipation, a smile he couldn't suppress.
You Bei glanced at him and smiled as well. "That's my Jou. You wouldn't back down from something like this, would you?"
"Of course not", Jou grinned. "My turn, draw!"
"I activate the magic card 'Angel's Favor' and draw three cards from my deck, then discard two cards from my hand!"
Jou drew three cards and then discarded two.
"Next, I activate the magic card 'Contact Shift'! I send one 'New Space Hero' monster from my hand and one from my deck to the Graveyard, then draw two cards!"
Jou's deck automatically searched and ejected a card. Jou drew it into his hand and then sent it, along with another card from his hand, to the Graveyard. He then drew two more cards.
"Whether it's Yeshen or any sun, it doesn't matter to me. I just need to defeat them!"
Jou played another card from his hand.
"I activate the trap card 'New Universe Expansion' from my hand!"
