Chapter 991: Capital Offense
Chapter 991: Capital Offense
Bang!
A gunshot cracked from the mountaintop, stunning Klah and Kaku. Instinctively, Klah thrust his arm forward, shielding the Navycommander, while Kaku leapt backward.
Clang!
A bullet was seized midair by Klah’s Armored Haki-covered hand. He glanced toward the peak where the shot had come, spotting a figure in fur-lined pauldron armor standing atop Marineford-scale heights. The traitor’s malevolent grin widened as smoke curled from his pistol’s muzzle.
“Long time no see, Commander.”
The Navycommander froze, then glared. “What are you doing?! Why fire?!”
“Does it need asking?”
Klah released the bullet, letting it clatter to the ground. “Obvious betrayal.”
“Exactly. I’m done with the Navy. As a pirate, I’m free. All the intelligence I fed you before was fake. We could’ve kept pretending if you hadn’t come here. Now, you die.”
The fur-lined pauldron pirate stepped back. At once, pirates swarmed the ridges, guns raised and blades gleaming, their faces twisted in cruel grins. Beside him emerged a woman in a miko outfit, a hunched eagle perched on her shoulder—its beady eyes crinkled in mockery.
“A new officer?” Klah muttered, recalling the wanted poster. “Vulture Miko, Nakurow!”
Nakurow swept her gaze over the trio. “Only three? I came for the show of the Navy’s betrayal, but now I’ll kill you too. Black Wolf—surrender, and I’ll spare you.”
Klah’s body erupted into a five-meter-tall werewolf, heaving heavy breaths. “You dare demand surrender from Great Klah? I’m Navy. We don’t yield!”
“Then die.” Nakurow flicked her fingers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Pirates unleashed a storm of bullets. Klah’s tail lashed, cocooning the Navycommander as lead rained down.
Pock! Pock! Pock!
Bullets ricocheted off Klah’s armored hide with sharp clangs and sparks. “This level of Haki? Useless!”
The rounds carried Haki, but to Klah, even Iron Body was unnecessary—his raw flesh shrugged off the assault. Kaku, however, tensed his jet-black fists, Haki flaring as he weathered the barrage.
“Haki? Annoying,” Kaku muttered, spotting movement. “No escape. Calm Step!”
His neck elongated like a spring, his square muzzle spinning with tremendous force.
A blue crescent slash erupted from his neck, slicing through the mountainsides beneath the pirates’ feet. The peaks shattered, sending foes tumbling into the abyss.
Nakurow soared upward, her eagle shrinking to perch on her shoulder mid-fall. With a flap, it expanded into a colossal beast, catching her.
“Attack, Eagle!”
The eagle’s wings scattered feather-blades like iron swords. Klah’s tail shielded the Navycommander as they dodged. The feathers struck the ground like cannonballs, erupting in smoke and carving craters.
“Wolf Dash Cannon!”
Klah spat an air cannon, but the eagle veered sideways, evading with Observation Haki.
“Longneck!”
Kaku’s neck snapped forward like a whip, his muzzle aiming for Nakurow. She parried with a Haki-infused blade, the clash ringing metallic.
“Don’t underestimate me, bastard Navy!” she snarled.
Kaku’s eyes narrowed. “I’m no Navy. And you’re weak.”
His neck twisted, hurling her skyward.
“Canine Storm!!”
Klah’s roar unleashed a chaotic slash-wave, engulfing Nakurow mid-air.
“She’s fragile,” Klah noted. “The real threat is that eagle.”
The eagle shrieked, its metallic wingspan expanding.
“Tougher than expected,” Klah growled. “You got this, Kaku?”
“Stop doubting my combat power like Gabura,” Kaku snapped.
“Doubt? You’re a weak herbivore compared to Great Klah!”
“Navy arrogance?” Kaku retorted. “Let’s settle this after we kill the bird.”
The eagle soared higher, then shrank, fleeing.
Klah squinted. “Freed from its master? Or fleeing danger?”
He reverted to human form, releasing the Navycommander. “Judgment: He abandoned the Navy, led an ambush, and forfeited Navy honor. Verdict—capital offense.”
