Chapter 990: His Own Horcrux
Chapter 990: His Own Horcrux
"Kyle, are you sure about this?" On a street in London, Minerva McGonagall looked at Kyle with concern. "I'm not against you treating Frank and Alice, in fact, I also want to see them wake up."
"But Kyle, I must remind you that the Ministry of Magic has strictly forbidden any discussion related to Horcruxes. Once they notice, they might cause trouble for you."
"Don't worry, Headmistress," Kyle smiled and walked towards the window of a disguised department store, entering without hesitation.
Professor McGonagall hesitated for a moment, but Kyle had already gone in. In the end, she didn't say anything more and just quickened her pace to follow him.
The waiting room was crowded with people, including Neville and Lady Lombard at the front, along with Professor Saxia.
Even the Minister of Magic, Amelia Bones, and the Head of the Auror Office, Kingsley Shacklebolt, were present.
They all seemed to be waiting for Kyle.
"Kyle, is it true?" Amelia Bones stepped forward, almost bumping into a witch with a Golden Snitch stuck in her left nostril.
"I heard you found the counter-curse for the Cruciatus Curse."
Kyle didn't quite catch what Bones said as his attention was on the witch and the fluttering Snitch by her mouth.
Using her nostril to catch a Snitch?
How did she manage that?
Kyle had always thought Harry catching the Snitch with his mouth was already quite unique.
It's fair to say that St. Mungo's never failed to surprise him.
Kyle snapped back to reality when someone tapped him from behind.
"Minister Bones, I'm not sure if this is the counter-curse for the Cruciatus Curse," Professor McGonagall said clearly. "To be honest, I only received the news last night and haven't had time to confirm it yet."
"Well, it's not exactly a counter-curse," Kyle immediately continued. "It just has a certain counteracting effect on the Cruciatus Curse, repairing the shattered soul."
"That's already quite remarkable," said Bones, but her tone still carried doubt.
Lady Lombard stepped forward and once again expressed her gratitude to Kyle, and then everyone went upstairs together.
On the fifth floor, in the Ward for Spell Damage.
The Lombard couple was in one of the rooms.
When the door opened, both of them looked over simultaneously.
Kyle had been here once before, but compared to then, they now looked more haggard, their faces thin and their eyes appearing particularly large.
Perhaps due to the number of people entering, they seemed uneasy. Neville's mother shrank into the corner, glancing timidly at Neville in the crowd.
She was holding something in her hand.
Kyle moved closer and saw that it was a wrapper from a Chewing Charm Super Bubble Gum.
"As you can see," Lady Lombard said wearily, "they've been like this most of the time, without any rationality."
"But there are moments of clarity," Neville suddenly spoke up. "Many times she can recognize me, but she can't speak... I can feel it."
"She'll be able to recognize you from now on," Kyle patted his shoulder.
Neville's face visibly turned red, whether from tension or excitement.
Or perhaps both.
"Alright, everyone else please leave," Professor Saxia said sternly.
No one moved; Amelia Bones and Kingsley Shacklebolt stood there with no intention of leaving, and they wouldn't have left anyway.
Minerva McGonagall didn't move either, but the healer who was originally in the room was somehow pushed out.
Even the accompanying Aurors stepped out, standing guard at the door.
"Shall we start now, Kingsley?" Kyle asked in a low voice.
"Yes," Kyle nodded. "And we can still make it back in time for dinner."
He took out his wand, and everyone immediately held their breath, looking tense.
"Well, let's get some sleep first," Kyle waved his wand, and the originally nervous couple immediately closed their eyes and fainted on the bed.
A red light emerged from the tip of Kyle's wand.
"Soul Departure!"
The red light entered Frank Lombard's forehead, and everything went quiet.
Kyle also became still.
The scene before him had completely changed.
He seemed to have entered a space with no color or boundaries, vast and fragmented.
Or perhaps it was like a dozen screens of different sizes, each playing various scenes.
This is the Soul Snatch Curse... The 'screens' he now sees are the soul fragments of Frank Lombard.
Kyle knows he is in the consciousness of Mr. Lombard, but at the same time, he has not yet separated from his own body.
It’s quite magical.
“Now, to just let them separate…”
Kyle tries to move the wand.
“…Transform!”
He mutters a spell, but the voice is so low that even Minister Bones, standing right beside him, only catches the last two words.
Then, Frank Lombard suddenly convulses involuntarily, as though something inside his body is wandering.
Bones can't help but frown, but in the end, he holds back, saying nothing.
...
The process takes longer than he had imagined, and it is also quite boring. The two of them lie there, neither of them showing any signs of impatience. Kyle stands in front of them, neither making any extra movements, at most, he moves the wand slightly.
Good thing everyone in the house has patience, until noon, no one shows any signs of irritation.
Bones and Kingsley are patient, only Saxia truly finds the process boring, as a Healer, she can clearly perceive the changes in the Lombard couple.
Every time Kyle moves the wand, her gaze would subtly shift, her eyes growing brighter.
...
Outside, Neville stands by the corridor, looking at the closed door, tightly gripping a crumpled piece of candy wrapper in his hand.
He comes out too, followed by Mrs. Lombard who acts as an irrelevant party. He has been there all morning, head down, standing motionless by the wall, tense, afraid, and anticipating... a mix of emotions that prevents him from calming down.
But he has no idea what is happening inside the room, can only fidget nervously with the candy wrapper in his hand.
“Crack…”
Unknown how much time has passed, the door opens.
Kyle walks out from inside, followed by the voice of Amelia Bones.
“I can assure you, the entire magical community will go mad over this, if your method really works… The Order of Merlin, first class, I can promise you.”
“I’m not doing this for a medal, Minister,” Kyle says, “and their bodies are too weak. They might need some time to wake up, so we’ll talk about it later.”
Neville first casts a glance inside the room.
His parents are lying on the bed, sleeping quietly.
Neville’s heart skips a beat.
Kyle has succeeded! Although they haven’t woken up yet, Neville acutely notices the changes in them.
It’s a kind of peace he’s never seen before. Previously, sleeping was a torment for them, to be awakened by nightmares.
’t take long before they are startled awake.
But now, they’re just like... just like... Harry, after a Quidditch practice.
Because they are so exhausted, they fall asleep on the bed, waking up when the sun rises.
Saying it this way might not be entirely accurate, but the meaning is close enough. He’s confident that this time, his parents will not be startled awake by nightmares.
But when Neville turns his head with joy to thank Kyle, the corridor in front of him is already empty.
The original text is in book 6 9 @see!
When he’s crouched at the door, looking inside, Kyle has already left St. Mungo’s, heading back to Hogwarts.
Now back, just in time for lunch.
Busy for the whole morning, he is really a bit hungry.
...
“Whoosh!”
Accompanied by a slight sound, the two of them appear on the Hogsmeade Platform.
“Are we waiting for the Headmaster?”
“No, she should go find Minister Bones.”
Kyle throws the glass bottle in his hand, and walks into the school gate with Conna, who is still somewhat dazed.
the shock.
“Really… they’re fine?”
“Yeah, just feeling different from what I imagined.”
“That’s the observer, but I’m exhausted enough,” Kyle rubs his still slightly trembling wrist. After using nearly twenty Soul Snatch Curses… His wrist feels like it’s pierced by needles, even the wand he can barely hold steady.
Including this time when he and Conna returned, it was also because Headmistress McGurts helped to make a Portkey, instead of using a Disapparition.
Last time it was this tiring, still in the Azkaban Islands, when they encountered Voldemort.
Kyle can’t help but rub his buzzing head, the sound of the spell. He never imagined Frank Longbottom’s soul could be so fragmented into a dozen pieces, it was strange that his mother could be awake.
"But Minister Bones mentioned that she'd help you apply for the Order of Merlin, First Class," Connah whispered. "You'll probably be the youngest recipient of the highest honor."
"That's... just something to listen to." Kyle casually replied, seemingly not taking the greatest honor seriously.
"What do you mean?" Connah frowned, "If you can solve the three Unforgivable Curses, you can definitely receive the First Class award."
"The prerequisite is that this method can be popularized, like the Wolfsbane Potion." Kyle explained, "But in reality, I'm sure I won't be teaching this method to others."
"Because of the Horcrux?"
"Exactly." Kyle nodded, "The essence of this curse is the Horcrux. If someone figures this out and makes a slight change, they can easily master the method of making Horcruxes."
"The wizarding world has never lacked genius wizards." Kyle glanced up at Hogwarts, "I'm not arrogant enough to think that no one can understand this spell. It's impossible."
Connah sighed softly, feeling sorry for Kyle.
He could have received the Order of Merlin, First Class...
"It's nothing." Kyle seemed to understand her thoughts and smiled, "That thing isn't even made of gold, and it's not worth much. I got something better."
"What is it?"
"Bragging rights." Kyle raised an eyebrow, "If I hadn't graduated yet, I might have gotten another Special Contribution to Hogwarts Award... That one can only be displayed in the trophy room, but at least it's made of gold... I wonder if the professors can get medals."
"Definitely not." Connah laughed, "Don't forget that recipients of the Special Contribution to Hogwarts Award can also get an additional two hundred points. If you got it, who would you give those points to?"
"Of course, it's Hufflepuff."
"The other three houses would never agree to that."
As they spoke, they walked forward and soon arrived in front of the castle.
"Oh, right." Connah stopped at the entrance to the Great Hall, suddenly remembering something.
"You made a Horcrux for the Lombards this time, right? If it goes on for a long time, will it be discovered?" She asked in a low voice.
"Also, what did you choose as the container for their souls? I was watching the whole time, and you never left."
"You finally asked about this." Kyle smirked, "They are their own containers, and I got this idea from Harry."
"Potter?"
"Yes, he's Voldemort's Horcrux." Kyle nodded, explaining, "I was thinking, if a wizard can be another wizard's Horcrux, why can't they be their own?"
"So I tried to make Mr. Lombard his own Horcrux. If it didn't work, I'd break a few bones as I'd planned before."
"But I succeeded!"
Connah frowned, a little confused.
"But he's just one person, and you made over a dozen Horcruxes?"
"Separate them." Kyle said.
The space he had seen before, without clear boundaries, was Mr. Lombard's consciousness, or his soul.
Anyway, he collected those fragments, put one in the 'head', one in the 'hand', and one in the 'leg', and they could be managed by squeezing them together.
The advantage of doing this was obvious; since all the soul fragments were in one container, there would be no soul-splitting situation like Voldemort's.
They were still the same Lombards, with no changes.
But the downside... well, it couldn't really be called a downside.
The advantage of Horcruxes was that the soul fragments would continue with the container... In theory, a stone could exist forever, so the soul attached to it would also continue.
But if the container was a wizard, this advantage wouldn't exist.
However, this also depended on the situation.
After all, Kyle just wanted the Lombards to regain consciousness, not create two immortal wizards.
According to Kyle's initial plan, he was going to put the separated soul fragments into their bones, directly inside their bodies, so it wouldn't be noticeable from the outside.
Then, after the Ministry officials left, he would take those bones out, destroy them directly, or ask Professor McGonagall to help seal them."
This method might cause some harm to the Lombards, but fortunately, this problem was perfectly solved."
