Chapter 990: A Testimony of Love
Chapter 990: A Testimony of Love
"Congratulations, you are now a fully qualified Master Alchemist, Hermione." Ivan turned to look at the young witch and said with a teasing tone.
"A Master Alchemist? I still have a long way to go..." Hermione shook her head. Although she was happy, she did not let this achievement inflate her ego.
She was well aware that achieving this in just six months was not due to her exceptional talent, but rather because she had received many relevant memories from Ivan, along with the enhancement provided by Ravenclaw's Diadem.
"By the way, did you have Maca specially inform me to return just to give me this surprise?" Ivan asked curiously. He had been so worried when he read the urgency in the young witch's letter that he had rushed back without even finishing his business, thinking something must have happened at home.
However, as soon as the words left his mouth, Ivan immediately regretted them. He suddenly realized that his words might have sounded insensitive, and perhaps the young witch had simply wanted to see him.
Fortunately, Hermione didn't seem to mind. She shook her head slightly and hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Of course not, I have something else to give you..."
"Before that, you need to close your eyes first!" Hermione added after a brief pause.
What could be so mysterious?
Ivan couldn't help but feel curious, but Hermione showed no intention of revealing anything, just staring at him intently.
"Alright... alright!" Seeing the young witch's mysterious expression, Ivan felt a sense of anticipation and closed his eyes as she asked.
A clear metallic clinking sound rang in his ears, and a moment later, Ivan felt Hermione's body gradually leaning towards him. She placed a cold object around his neck.
"Can I open my eyes now?" Ivan asked. Upon receiving her nod, he looked down.
A familiar crescent-shaped pendant hung quietly from his chest, faintly glowing with the enchanting Magiclumos.
Ivan was taken aback. Wasn't this the Crescent Pendant he had given her during the fourth-year dance?
Just as Ivan was about to ask, a message in his System Inventory caught his attention, stopping his words in their tracks.
[Magic Item: Crescent Pendant
Magic: Extremely Strong
Guardians: Ivan Hals, Hermione Jane Granger
Description: This is a Magic Item crafted from a large amount of precious metals and enchanted multiple times, imbued with pure and powerful magic, offering protection to the wearer.
Note: This pendant carries the hopes of both of you, serving as a testament to your love...]
Ivan stared at the item description in surprise, then looked up at Hermione sharply.
"I modified it according to your method, hoping it would protect you in my place..." the young witch stammered, a light blush spreading across her fair cheeks.
Ever since she had read about the battle at the North American Magical Congress in the Daily Prophet, she had been deeply concerned for Ivan's safety.
She couldn't bear the thought of Ivan risking his life fighting Grindelwald and the Death Eaters while she could only stay at school or home, worrying uselessly.
Hermione was well aware that with her current abilities, she wouldn't be much help. If she joined the Rapid Response Teams to fight alongside Ivan, she might even become a burden. This led her to the idea of learning Alchemy to create and modify protective items.
While Ivan's Alchemy skills were exceptional, and he could easily craft powerful protective magical items, there was one exception: the Crescent Pendant he had given her two years ago.
She had once read in an Alchemy book about a pair of Alchemists who infused their love into a single magical item, endowing it with immense power. With this in mind, Hermione had proactively suggested learning Emotional Magic techniques from Ivan during the summer, hoping to replicate their feat.
To successfully modify the Crescent Pendant, she had mustered the courage to seek advice from Ivan's mother, Asia, and spent over half a year improving her Alchemy skills. It wasn't until two days ago that she successfully infused her protective emotions into the pendant.
Ivan wasn't aware of the intricate details, but upon seeing the item's description, he quickly guessed what had happened. He was deeply moved.
"What's wrong, Ivan? Did I make a mistake?" Hermione, noticing Ivan's stunned silence, nervously asked, fearing she had somehow damaged the precious relic.
"No, I just want to say, thank you... Hermione!" Ivan said, moved, then pulled the young witch into his arms. Before Hermione could react, he leaned in and kissed her.
Hermione hadn't expected such a direct move from Ivan. She was startled, her beautiful brown eyes tightly closed, looking tense. But she soon relaxed, their lips intertwining as they felt the intense love from each other.
After what seemed like an eternity, Ivan finally released her. They gazed into each other's eyes for a few minutes before Hermione, reluctantly, spoke. "That's all I wanted to give you. If there's anything important, you can go now."
"That's not going to happen. Since I have some free time, I should spend it with you." Ivan, picking up on the young witch's underlying resentment, responded with a laugh, temporarily setting aside his plans to meet Fenrir and the others.
After all, he could push the meeting to the next day and let them wait.
"Then, my little princess, I have a surprise for you. Would you like to see it?" Ivan bent slightly, extending his right hand in invitation.
"Of course!" Hermione nodded joyfully, gripping Ivan's hand without hesitation.
In the next moment, a crimson flame ignited in the Alchemy Room, and the two figures vanished into thin air.
The surprise Ivan had in mind was spontaneous. After marking the Aurors of the International Confederation of Wizards with a Magic Mark, he had access to coordinates all over the world. So, he took Hermione on a tour of the most breathtaking locations around the globe.
They visited Iceland to witness the beauty of Seljalandsfoss, climbed Mount Everest to marvel at the grandeur of the mountains... and didn't return to the manor until evening, where they joined Asia and the Granger family for a grand banquet.
