Chapter 982: Healing Fleur
Chapter 982: Healing Fleur
Healer Bohn and three other healers stood by the bedside, carefully examining the injury on Fleur's face. After a moment, one of the healers suddenly spoke up. "This is a unique curse, likely a form of obscure Dark Magic. I've never seen anything like it before..."
"Headmaster, can my face still be healed?" Fleur's voice trembled, her urgency clear as she asked.
"Please try to stay calm, Miss Delacour. We will find a way..." Healer Bohn gently reassured her, though he sighed inwardly.
The curse on Fleur was extremely difficult to handle. They had tried dozens of spells to heal the wound, but with little success. They could only temporarily suppress the curse to prevent it from spreading further across her left cheek.
As for whether they could completely heal Fleur, Healer Bohn had no certainty.
Seeing the serious expressions on their faces, Fleur immediately realized the gravity of the situation. The thought of being disfigured for life made her collapse onto the bedside, clutching her cheek and sobbing helplessly.
The others exchanged glances, all of them feeling helpless. If they could, who would want to see a once-beautiful girl suffer such a fate?
Just as they were about to offer more words of comfort, a voice came from behind them.
"Why don't I give it a try?"
They all turned to see Ivan and Pierce entering the room.
"Do you have any confidence, Sir Hals?" Healer Bohn asked solemnly.
"Probably", Ivan replied casually, walking straight to Fleur and examining the injury on her face.
The other healers frowned, deeply dissatisfied with this outsider's interference. Fleur's curse was no ordinary matter; if mishandled, it could lead to even worse consequences.
However, with Minister of Magic Pierce present, no one dared to intervene.
"Do you trust me, Fleur?" Ivan asked after a moment of inspection.
Fleur, at a loss, saw a glimmer of hope in Ivan's words. She nodded without hesitation, as if grasping the last lifeline.
"Then brace yourself for some pain!" Ivan said casually, drawing his wand and pressing it against the side of her face, which was covered in blisters.
A soft red light soon emanated from the wand. The intense pain almost made Fleur cry out, and she instinctively tried to turn her head away. But her body felt as if it were encased in plaster, unable to move, not even to turn her head.
It was the Full Body-Bind Curse!
Fleur immediately recognized what had happened, though she had no idea when Ivan had cast the spell. But at this moment, she could not dwell on it. Her left cheek felt as if it were touching molten lava, and due to the Full Body-Bind Curse, she could not even scream. She had to endure it.
Sweat trickled down her forehead, neck, and back, and the other healers looked on with a mix of sympathy and concern.
Especially when they saw the left side of Fleur's face rapidly deteriorating and rotting after Ivan's casting, their frustration grew.
If not for Ivan and Pierce's status, they would have intervened long ago. Now, they all turned to Healer Bohn for guidance.
However, to everyone's surprise, Healer Bohn showed no reaction, merely focusing intently on Ivan as he cast his spell, seemingly without any intention of reprimanding him for his actions.
The red light flickering on the wand soon dimmed, and by then, half of Fleur's face had turned a deep shade of red. The outer layer of her skin began to peel and fall off, only to quickly heal under the effect of the Wound-Healing Charm.
Fleur, who had been on the verge of fainting from the pain, suddenly felt no more discomfort. Her entire face seemed to be immersed in warm water. Once Ivan finished casting, the effects of the Petrificus Totalus spell also wore off, and Fleur, regaining her ability to move, grabbed Ivan's wrist, her voice trembling. "A mirror... quick, a mirror!"
Ivan smiled, understanding Fleur's thoughts, and waved his wand to conjure a round mirror.
Fleur's trembling figure gazed into the mirror, and the half of her face that had been dry and covered in blisters had now been restored to its original state, even appearing more supple and smooth than the other half!
"Oh, thank goodness... thank goodness... I thought..." Fleur was overwhelmed with emotion, giving Ivan a big, enthusiastic hug. "Thank you... thank you, you saved my life again, Ivan. I don't know how to thank you..."
Earlier, seeing the expressions on Headmaster Bohan and the others, Fleur had feared she would be disfigured for life. She never expected Ivan to have a way to counter the spell.
It's not that serious, is it? Ivan gently disengaged from the witch's embrace, feeling somewhat amused and exasperated. The spell Fleur had been hit with was indeed troublesome, but after the treatment by Headmaster Bohan and the others, it was no longer life-threatening. At worst, it would leave some lasting effects on her face.
However, Ivan understood that for a girl as beautiful as Fleur, her appearance was even more important than her life.
The healers present, seeing Fleur's restored appearance, felt somewhat embarrassed. They had just concluded that the injury could not be fully healed, yet Ivan had managed to counter the spell with such ease.
"I just happened to read about the counter-curse for this curse in a book", Ivan explained, noticing their confusion.
The healers' expressions cleared, understanding that while a spell might be powerful, having the corresponding counter-curse meant that even a newly graduated young wizard could neutralize it.
Healer Bohn, however, had some doubts. Counter-curses typically reversed the effects of a curse, which was different from how Ivan had cast his spell.
Ivan didn't elaborate further. The curse Fleur had been hit with was one of Grindelwald's early creations, extremely stubborn and without a known counter-curse. It was no wonder British healers found it challenging.
But for Ivan, who had mastered all of Grindelwald's magical knowledge, finding a way to negate the spell's effects wasn't particularly difficult.
Seeing that Fleur's emotions had calmed down, Ivan changed the subject. "By the way, Fleur, Minister Pierce mentioned that you escaped from the French Ministry of Magic?"
Reminded by Ivan, Fleur immediately recalled the events of the past few days, recounting them with a mix of fear and anger.
