Chapter 982: Assistant Conna
Chapter 982: Assistant Conna
The day before Hogwarts started, the Burrow had completely transformed.
Over the past few days, Mrs. Weasley had brought a few children to thoroughly clean and repaint the walls with various colors.
At first glance, it seemed a bit chaotic, but there was a faint resemblance to the magical castle in Muggle storybooks—a miniature version of a magical castle.
The garden gnomes had also been thoroughly cleared out and tossed to a distant place, far enough that it would take them several days to return.
Even the ghoul in the Burrow's attic had been temporarily relocated to Kyle's house.
Everyone was so busy that Kyle had been dragged into helping out as well.
...
The wedding venue was set in the orchard near the Burrow, and many people had gathered there that day.
First to arrive was the nearby Kyle, then soon after, Harry, Sirius, Remus, and Tonks, the original members of the Order of the Phoenix, also showed up.
Ron, Fred, and George were positioned in front of a large tent, awaiting the guests who would be arriving for the wedding.
They shamelessly tried to drag Kyle and Cedric along, but didn't succeed.
Kyle ignored them completely, not even turning his head as he slipped into the tent.
As soon as he stepped in, Cedric was stunned, staring speechlessly at the scene inside the tent.
From the outside, it looked like a regular tent, but inside, it was more like a vast park, with a large, clean meadow of grass. A long purple velvet carpet stretched from the entrance, flanked by delicate golden chairs.
“What are you doing...” Kyle nudged Cedric, “Can’t you stop acting like you’ve never seen anything before? It's embarrassing.”
“But I really haven't seen anything like this,” Cedric whispered.
“Haven’t you ever been to my trunk?” Kyle glanced at him.
His trunk was much larger than this tent and more bustling with activity.
“It’s... different, different...” Cedric's gaze wandered, lost in thought.
“Are you thinking that when you and Cho get married, you’ll also have it here?”
Cedric's face flushed red, he turned his head away, “How did you know... No, I mean, I haven’t thought that way.”
“Didn't think that way, huh?” Kyle chuckled.
“This is indeed a tent specifically designed for weddings, it’s rare, and it's impressive that Bill managed to get one.”
The two of them moved further inside.
Compared to Remus and Tonks' wedding, there were many more guests this time around.
The Weasley family had numerous relatives, and the Delacours were a renowned French family. When Kyle walked in, it felt like entering the atrium of the Ministry of Magic.
With so many people, Kyle and Cedric’s arrival didn’t attract much attention. They found a corner to sit and began eating the buffet.
Soon after, Cho arrived.
“Where's Conna?” Cho glanced at Kyle, “Didn’t you go to pick her up?”
“Went, but no one was there.” Kyle shrugged.
Early that morning, he had gone to Conna’s place but hadn’t seen her. Instead, he met Snape, who seemed to be waiting for Kyle. As soon as Kyle Apparated, Snatching his feet steady, Snape opened the door, giving him a sarcastic greeting.
Kyle didn’t remember the exact words, but it was clear Conna had left for a significant matter, and she wasn't in Britain at the moment.
After shedding the Death Eater and spy identities, Snape seemed even more irritable, each word drawn out.
So, before Kyle returned, he accidentally dropped a large dungbomb down the chimney of Snape’s house.
Of course, now, what would happen when he ignited the fireplace was uncertain.
“Seems she’s not in Britain.”
“Probably not.” Kyle said, “I tried to contact her with the Two-Face Mirror and noticed a snowy mountain in the reflection. Before I could speak, the connection broke due to the distance.”
“From that, she must be at least three thousand miles away.”
“Alright.” Cho looked somewhat disappointed. She hadn’t seen Conna in a long time.
Not just Cho, Kyle hadn’t seen Conna in a long time either. After Hogwarts break, he had been busy experimenting with Horcrux spells, while Conna was busy with her own affairs.
He had hoped she would return for Bill's wedding, but...
Never mind, let's wait a bit longer.
Shortly after, Cho and Cedric moved to another area, leaving Kyle to eat the snacks alone.
Fortunately, Fred and George finally returned from their busy work, their complaints audible from a distance.
“Whenever I get married, you can wear whatever you want…”
“Don’t forget to give Mom a full-body bind curse.”
Kyle raised an eyebrow at them, "If I recall correctly, you said the same thing at Lupin and Tonks' wedding last time."
"That's because these things are really annoying!" Fred tugged at his robe collar.
But before he could finish his sentence, a group of people entering from the entrance caught his attention.
For a moment, the entire tent was filled with vibrant colors, the sunlight transformed into a rainbow, refracting a dazzling array of light, and illuminating a group of beautiful butterflies.
"Wow..." George rubbed his eyes vigorously, "I've never seen so many Veela girls."
"They must be Fleur's cousins." Fred carefully straightened his collar, which he had just rumpled, "As the hosts, I think I should introduce them to British customs."
As he spoke, George had already rushed past the two middle-aged witches at the front of the line and greeted the two beautiful French girls, "Hey... Please allow me to serve you!"
The French girls giggled and allowed him to escort them inside.
"When did he learn French?" Kyle blinked in disbelief, "And it's so standard..."
No one answered him, and when he turned around again, Fred was gone.
"Alright..." Kyle reached for a piece of chocolate and popped it into his mouth.
It seemed that Fred and George were eager to use the Full Body-Bind Curse on Mrs. Weasley.
"Aren't you going?" Hermione's voice came from behind, "They're Veela, Ron's eyes turned red when he realized he was a step behind."
Hermione was also well-dressed today, wearing a light purple dress with matching high heels, and her hair was smooth and silky.
"It's because they're Veela that I should keep my distance." Kyle pushed a plate of chocolates toward her.
"What do you mean?" Hermione was a little confused.
Kyle smiled but didn't explain.
There was no way to explain it; he couldn't very well say that he always subconsciously regarded them as magical creatures, which was a bit impolite.
More and more people arrived: Kingsley, Hagrid, Luna, and Viktor Krum.
As a fellow Triwizard Tournament participant, he was also invited by Fleur to attend the wedding. The famous international Quidditch star caused quite a stir as soon as he appeared.
The younger guests were excited to see him, and a few even asked for his autograph and enthusiastically invited him to join them.
Krum declined all invitations and chose to sit on the other side of Kyle. As soon as he sat down, he looked at Hermione and happily struck up a conversation with her.
Kyle didn't know if Hermione was happy or not, but Krum seemed to be in high spirits.
Hermione quickly found an excuse to leave.
At that moment, Ginny and Cho walked by, chatting and laughing.
Krum stared at them intently.
"These girls are so beautiful..." Krum muttered under his breath, "Do you know them?"
He was speaking to Kyle.
"Yes, we're quite close." Kyle glanced at him, "But they all have boyfriends, and they have fiery temperaments. When they fight, they prefer using thick iron rods instead of wands."
Krum's face turned slightly pale as if he had thought of something.
"I heard... that you graduated." He seemed to want to change the subject.
Kyle glanced at him again, "I graduated a year ago, and you're just hearing about it now?"
"I... don't know much about the situation on your side in Britain." Krum's voice sounded a bit uncertain.
Her mouth was a non-stop chatterbox, from Ron's hairstyle to how to wear head accessories, and even casually taking jabs at the French... Kyle couldn't fathom where she found so many topics to talk about.
Fortunately, this talkative witch only engaged the Weasleys in conversation, leaving Kyle unbothered as he kept his distance.
The wedding's overall flow was similar to Lupin's, with guests arriving, the ceremony, and the start of the ball...
Even the wizard officiating the ceremony was the same familiar short wizard from last time.
Compared to the previous wedding, this one went much smoother. There were no Death Eaters causing trouble, nor any scene-stealing individuals. The ball was lively, lasting well into the night without any signs of stopping.
Bill and Fleur planned an all-night ball, which most people welcomed.
Fred and George, lovers of excitement, were all for it.
Mrs. Weasley, although not convinced it was a good idea, didn't say much seeing everyone's enthusiasm.
However, Kyle didn't participate and left midway.
...
The next day, Mr. Weasley was supposed to drive Ginny to King's Cross Station, but seeing his tired state, Kyle volunteered to take over.
Since he was going there anyway, he could conveniently give Ginny a ride.
"You're also going to King's Cross Station?" Mr. Weasley looked puzzled. "I thought you'd choose to Apparate to Hogsmeade and then go to school."
"That was my initial plan," Kyle said. "But Professor Saxia wants to ride the Hogwarts Express one more time, and Professor McGonagall wants me to accompany her. You know, she's quite old."
"Ah, yes," Mr. Weasley nodded.
He didn't know Saxia's exact age, only that she was already famous when he was young.
"Then I'll trouble you." Mr. Weasley yawned. "Here are the car keys..."
"No need," Kyle smiled. "I'll Apparate."
"Apparate?" Mr. Weasley shook his head, keys in hand. "Better not. If you appear at King's Cross Station, Muggles will definitely see you, and it'll cause trouble."
"As long as I don't appear at King's Cross Station," Kyle smiled.
He reached out, grabbed Ginny, who was also yawning, and asked, "Can you do Side-Along Apparition?"
"Of course," Ginny said softly, rubbing her eyes. "I've already passed the Apparition exam. I don't even need you to take me."
"Then forget it!" Kyle said.
Grabbing Ginny's arm, he waved goodbye to Mr. Weasley and vanished from the spot.
The next second, the two appeared at Platform 9, where the deep red Hogwarts Express stood like a giant beast.
"Ginny, Kyle..." At that moment, Luna emerged from the opposite side of the wall.
"How was the ball yesterday?"
"It was amazing!" Ginny said. "When I get married, I want to have an all-night ball too!"
"With Harry?" Kyle asked abruptly.
He was then stomped on by Ginny, who turned red with embarrassment.
Ginny pulled Luna onto the train, while Kyle remained waiting.
Just as the train was about to depart, Professor Saxia finally arrived, also choosing to Apparate directly without going through King's Cross Station.
"Welcome, Professor Saxia," Kyle quickly walked over but soon stopped.
"Hmm... Conna?"
He then noticed that another person was accompanying Professor Saxia.
Conna released Professor Saxia's arm and smiled at Kyle, "Actually, I'd prefer if you called me Assistant Professor Conna."
"Assistant Professor?" Kyle was taken aback. "Wait, you applied to become a Hogwarts professor too?"
"It's not exactly like that," Conna thought for a moment and explained, "A month ago, Professor Saxia found me and asked if I'd be willing to travel with her. I agreed."
"After retiring, you should relax a bit," Professor Saxia also smiled and said, "Besides, an excellent Potion Master shouldn't stay in one place."
"Later, Professor Saxia decided to go to Hogwarts," Conna continued. "She invited me to be her assistant, teaching Potions to first and second years."
"Well... okay," Kyle never expected to see Conna again in this manner.
Not bad at all.
"That's it," Conna suddenly became excited. "This month, Professor Saxia showed me so much... I learned that lava can also be used in a crucible, and you definitely don't know about potions that don't require fire."
