Yubel frowned.

"I activate the Spell Card, 'Polymerization'! Fusing the 'Dark Magician' on the field with the 'Dark Knight Gaia' in my hand!"
"A knight imbued with the power of darkness, trampling all enemies under his iron hooves..."
"Dark Paladin, Fusion Summon!"
The Dark Magician and Gaia, both iconic monsters of Yuugi's past, fused across time. From the brilliance, a dark cavalry emerged, brandishing a spiral lance, clad in magical armor. His steed, a spectral mount, neighed as if it held lightning within its jaws.

"You've finally transcended yourself and created a new power, Yuugi!" Kaiba exclaimed. "But it's too late! Your Dark Paladin is no match for my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"

"Naive, Kaiba!" Atem said. "The Dark Paladin's ATK increases by the total number of Spell and Trap Cards in both players' fields and Graveyards, multiplied by 100!"
"The latest news, just in!" Aniki announced. "The total number of Spell and Trap Cards in both players' fields and Graveyards is 22, so the Dark Paladin's ATK becomes 5000!"

"Five thousand ATK?!" Kaiba exclaimed.
"Our fate ends here, Kaiba!" Atem declared. "Dark Paladin, attack the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
The Dark Paladin charged forward, its lance piercing through the air. The sound of its iron hooves resembled the thunderous march of a million soldiers. The spiral lance seemed to tear through space, aiming straight for its target.
"I activate my Set card, the Continuous Trap, 'Dark Binding Chains'!" Kaiba declared. "I target one of your monsters; its ATK decreases by 700, and it cannot attack or change its battle position!"
"Be bound, Dark Paladin!"
Dark chains shot out from the Trap, enveloping the Paladin from all directions, binding its limbs and the hooves of its steed.
"What?!" Atem exclaimed. "The Dark Paladin's power surpasses such a Trap! Dark Paladin's effect! By discarding one card from my hand, I can negate the activation of any Spell, Trap, or monster effect targeting any card on the field, and destroy it!"
Atem discarded a card from his hand.
"Dark Paladin, negate the activation of 'Dark Binding Chains' and destroy it!"
The Paladin's mount reared, neighing. Atem swung his spiral lance, its energy piercing through the air, creating a transparent cyclone that shattered the chains into dust.
"What? He has such a power?" Kaiba muttered. "Damn you, Yuugi..."
Watching from the sidelines, Ryo Bakura was momentarily speechless.
How could he describe this?
His brother's performance was convincing, as if he truly didn't know about the Dark Paladin, a card he had created himself.
