Chapter 98: Quite the Spectacular Fireworks!
Chapter 98: Quite the Spectacular Fireworks!
"You're recovering rather quickly. Are you already able to move about after just two days?"
Sarge spoke in a low voice, "To be frank, I'm not particularly interested in any of you. I've already let you go once before, and the sensible thing would be to stay far away from me."
He truly wasn't interested in these people, nor did he care about matters concerning the son of Whitebeard. There was no conflict between them.
Whether it was with Ace, Smoker, or Straw Hat, it made no difference.
As pirates, they were all in the same trade. Aside from conflicts arising due to differing goals and the occasional battle, they generally left each other alone.
As a marine, it was a matter of standing—the marines capturing pirates was a normal occurrence on the high seas.
Sarge's view of the marines was simple: run if you can, fight if you must, and then run again once the fight is over.
He was a pirate who did as he pleased, with a dream of amassing wealth and becoming a Land King, not some Ultimate Destroyer or Murderer King.
He didn't feel the need to fight everyone he came across.
The Conqueror's Haki didn't manifest in madmen.
Otherwise, the Four Emperors would have long waged a great war against the marines.
"I'm not very interested in you either, especially since you seem to know that old man. To be honest, I have more important matters to attend to than dealing with you."
Ace smiled and said, "I may not be able to defeat you when it comes to my old man, but after I accomplish what I set out to do, I'll come back and settle things with you. But for now, my little brother is going to defeat his enemy, and as his older brother, I won't let anyone stand in his way."
Smoker, cigar in mouth, lifted his head and said, "You're not one of the Seven Warlords. It's only natural for the marines to capture pirates."
Whether it was the Natural Disaster or Straw Hat, their priority didn't surpass that of Crocodile.
He had always despised the Seven Warlords, especially Crocodile, who had always been cunning.
Now that his intentions were exposed, Smoker, as a marine, couldn't even wait for orders from above. By the time they reacted, perhaps that sand crocodile would have already devoured this country.
But due to the rules, he couldn't take action against the Seven Warlords, and it was already humiliating enough that he had to pin his hopes on a pirate. In theory, he shouldn't even be here.
However, the presence of the Natural Disaster gave him a reason to be—by using the pretext of capturing him, no one would say anything about his entry into Albana.
He didn't know what Sarge's plan was or if he would collaborate with Crocodile, but stopping him here was enough!
The rest could only be left to Straw Hat!
"Your little brother, Straw Hat Luffy?"
Sarge turned his head to glance at the direction of the palace, then shook his head, "Are you sure you're not mistaken? I have no interest in Crocodile's plan, nor do I care whether he wins or loses. What he does is his business, and what I do is mine."
It would be best if that crocodile's plan succeeded, as it would make things more stable for his own grand plans.
But if it failed, he truly didn't mind—as long as Crocodile wasn't captured, it was fine.
After all, this was all outside of his initial plans, which had only involved robbing Rain Base and Albana.
"However..."
Hsss!
A puff of white gas shot out from Sarge's nose, spreading across the ground. His body swelled in that instant, his muscles transforming into a hideous armor. In Ace and Smoker's line of sight, he gradually grew to a height of three meters.
"It would be rude of me not to respond after you went through so much trouble to find me. Anyway, I'm not in a good mood, so I'll play with you for a bit. If I die here, I won't care about anything else!"
Sarge pointed at the two of them, "80% is enough to deal with both of you."
"What is this?!"
Smoker was slightly startled, as he had never seen Sarge in this state before. He had passed out earlier in Rahara, so he wasn't aware of this form.
But regardless of what it was, now wasn't the time for astonishment!
"White Blow!"
Smoke billowed from Smoker's right arm and shot out.
"Fire Fist!"
A flame erupted from Ace's left hand, transforming into a pillar of fire that shot out horizontally.
The smoke and fire entwined as they were launched, intertwining with each other. The flames heated the smoke to high temperatures, and this heat, in turn, intensified the flames, making them even more powerful.
Smoke and fire were evenly matched when pitted against each other, but when combined, their might was amplified!
As for Sarge, there was something familiar about him.
"Are you Barrette?"
Sarge's hands were enveloped in a pitch-black, flame-like aura, and he clapped his hands together, condensing the aura in his palms before forcefully pushing his hands forward.
"Hado-ken, Heavenly Charge!"
A deafening boom shook the air as a black, fiery beam collided with the pillar of fireworks, causing them to burst outward in a spectacular display of light and color. The explosion sent fireworks spraying in all directions, creating a dazzling and magnificent show.
"What a wonderful display of fireworks, Sabo-san, no, Ace-san, Smoker-san!"
Freeza Sarg broke into a sinister smile. With a mighty push, he unleashed a wave of Haoshoku energy, forcefully pushing back against the pillar of fireworks.
Even against the seemingly superior might of the fireworks, his rapidly regenerating Haki proved more than a match!
He was extremely confident in his ability to counter attacks!
...
"We've found her, Maryka-sama!"
Meanwhile, on a street closer to the palace, several pirates had broken into a lavishly decorated house and discovered a trove of gold and silver treasures. One pirate, holding a handful of necklaces and beaded chains, ran outside excitedly and called out to Maryka, who was standing across the street.
Maryka poked her head out and smiled. "Wonderful. Please keep up the good work."
The buildings closer to the palace were naturally more luxurious and likely belonged to nobles and wealthy individuals. It was only expected that they would contain valuable treasures.
Seven or eight crew members were rummaging through the house, placing valuable items into a box. As they prepared to move on to search another building, two figures suddenly burst onto the scene.
Bang!
The sharp sound of something cutting through the air was followed by the sickening sound of flesh being punctured. Two pirates clutched their chests, where a spray of blood now blossomed, and crumpled to the ground.
The pirate holding the box fared no better. A fist encased in an iron knuckle duster slammed into his face, sending teeth flying as he joined his companions on the ground.
"Drop those things, you despicable pirates! Kneel before the 'Iron Fist,' Captain Funbadi!"
A man with pink hair, wearing a navy hat, planted his foot on one of the fallen pirates as he shouted with fervor.
"And me, Zango!"
Standing behind him was a man wearing heart-shaped glasses. His hands were equipped with sharp, circular blades, adding to the menacing scene.
A squad of navy personnel approached swiftly from behind the two men. Leading the group was a woman with light pink, flowing hair, a cigarette dangling from her lips.
"There's no need for you to come any closer, Captain Tina! We'll take care of them!" Funbadi shouted excitedly.
"Yes, Captain Tina, please watch as we demonstrate our prowess!" Zango chimed in, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
"Mm!"
Just then, Miot burst out of the house, brandishing a large Japanese sword from his back. With a mighty swing, he cleaved through the air, aiming for the two navy men.
Clang!!
The sharp blade connected with Funbadi's iron knuckle duster, sending him and Zango flying backward from the force of the blow.
"You're quite strong, but it won't be enough! It's futile to go against us, the Dancing Brothers!" Funbadi quickly regained his footing, his stance ready for the next attack.
"Yes, partner, let's show him the navy's justice! Let's dance!" Zango twisted his body, his excitement evident in his voice.
"No, Captain Tina finds this bothersome."
The pink-haired woman stepped past her subordinates, approaching Miot. "A member of the Natural Disaster Pirates, with a bounty of six million berries, Miot, am I correct?"
"Grr!"
Miot growled threateningly, his body coiling as he prepared to lunge at the woman.
Unfazed, she pulled slightly on the glove of her right hand. As Miot charged forward and swung his blade, she casually extended her arm, bringing her hand into contact with the sword's edge.
"Pass through."
Her hand elongated, wrapping around Miot's massive body and passing through it with ease. With a quick upward motion, she hoisted him off the ground, his arms now bound by the black circle that had enveloped his upper body, the sword's spine pressed against his face.
No matter how fiercely Miot struggled, he couldn't break free from the black circle that held him fast.
"Don't bother struggling. Captain Tina's ability makes her hands harder than steel."
Blowing out a puff of smoke, she turned her gaze to the woman standing in the window. "Shouldn't you surrender as well, Maryka, an executive member of the Natural Disaster Pirates with a bounty of thirty million berries?"
Maryka's smile remained unchanged as she replied, "Oh my, they're navy personnel. What a surprise. Are you an ability user?"
Captain Tina of the Navy Headquarters, nicknamed 'Black Jail'!
