Chapter 978: The Terrifying Power Gap
Chapter 978: The Terrifying Power Gap
The more than eighty Wizards standing before him came from all over the world, each dressed in their own unique and bizarre fashion. Notably, not a single Wizard from Britain or North America was among them.
This was not surprising. Fenrir and the other Enforcers had all been thoroughly thrashed by Ivan in Knockturn Alley and were well aware of his devious and formidable nature. They knew better than to provoke him.
As for the Aurors from North America, many had witnessed Ivan’s battle with Grindelwald firsthand and were left with deep psychological scars. Naturally, they had no courage to step forward.
“It seems no one else wants to challenge me,” Ivan said, glancing around the room with a sigh. “What a pity. If there were more of you, it might have been a bit more challenging.”
Colin Morton and the others frowned, their anger boiling at Ivan’s provocative words. If not for the fact that he was their superior, they would have already lunged at him to show him what they were made of.
Ivan, of course, sensed their eagerness and silently shook his head, his opinion of them dropping even further. He then waved his hand, signaling the other Wizards to step back to avoid interfering with the duel.
Next, Ivan instructed Fenrir and the other Enforcers to cast several sturdy Magic Barriers around the entire hall to prevent the battle’s aftermath from destroying the League Headquarters.
The other Wizards gathered outside the Magic Barriers, whispering among themselves about the outcome of the fight.
While the newspapers of various Wizarding Worlds had been praising Ivan’s victory over Grindelwald, only the North American Aurors who had witnessed the battle firsthand truly understood just how powerful he was. Most Wizards still believed Ivan was overly arrogant and would likely meet a humiliating defeat here.
“Can we start now, President Hals?” Colin Morton, known for his short temper, pulled out his wand impatiently. The other eighty-odd Aurors quickly spread out, forming a loose semicircle around Ivan.
“Of course, whenever you’re ready!” Ivan replied casually.
As soon as he finished speaking, a crimson beam shot out from the crowd, reaching Ivan in an instant.
Ivan remained calm, his Human Bone Wand trembling slightly, and the crimson beam vanished without a trace.
However, this brief delay gave Colin Morton and the others the chance to act.
“Expelliarmus!”
“Petrificus!”
“Diffindo!”
Dozens of spell beams of various colors shot toward Ivan from all directions.
Ivan’s expression remained unchanged. He pointed his wand at himself and whispered, “Protego.”
An invisible Magic Barrier rose around Ivan, and the onlookers held their breath, fearing his arrogance would lead to his downfall.
To block so many spells with just one Protego—such a feat would be impossible even for Merlin himself!
To everyone’s shock, the dozens of spell beams were instantly deflected back toward their casters.
Colin Morton barely managed to roll out of the way, but not everyone had his reflexes. Many Aurors, unable to react in time, were hit by their own spells, their cries of pain and agony echoing through the hall.
In just five seconds of the battle, nearly a third of the Aurors had lost their fighting ability...
"How is this possible?!" Colin Morton struggled to his feet, his eyes wide with shock and confusion as he stared at Ivan.
The Wizards watching the scene were equally astonished, and even Fenrir's expression changed.
In the past, when Ivan fought against them, the Enforcers, he often dodged such large-scale cluster attacks, never daring to face them head-on. This time, however, he stood his ground, using a single Protego to deflect all the spells back at them.
Such power was beyond their comprehension!
At this thought, Fenrir and Walker exchanged a glance, realizing that Sir Hals' strength must have increased significantly...
What they didn't see was that, while withstanding the initial wave of attacks, three of the ten protective rings on Ivan's fingers had already dimmed...
After absorbing Dumbledore and Grindelwald's memories, Ivan's magical abilities had indeed improved greatly, but relying on a single Protego to block so many spells was still impossible.
In fact, by the time he resisted the fiftieth spell, his Protego had already shattered. Ivan had to activate three Magic Rings in quick succession to barely withstand the onslaught.
He wasn't doing this to show off; Ivan simply wanted to test how much his basic magic skills had improved after reaching the eighth level.
Of course, if he hadn't worn the protective rings, he wouldn't have been foolish enough to endure the attacks. He would have used Apparition or Flame Form to avoid them.
Colin Morton and the others, unaware of all this, saw only Ivan effortlessly deflecting all their spells and sending them back.
How were they supposed to fight this?
Despite the considerable combat experience of the Aurors present, the overwhelming power gap left them momentarily stunned. Dozens of wands were pointed at Ivan, but no one dared to make the first move.
"It seems you've had enough... Now it's my turn!" Ivan advanced step by step, his aura reaching its peak, making the numerous Aurors, including Colin Morton, seem like the ones being surrounded.
"Expelliarmus!" Ivan took a step forward and swung his wand without warning, aiming directly at Colin Morton.
Colin Morton hadn't expected to be Ivan's first target, but years of experience in life-and-death situations kicked in, and he quickly cast a Protective Charm on himself.
Unfortunately, the hastily cast protection was no match for Ivan's spell, shattering almost instantly. The red spell struck his chest, and Colin Morton was sent flying, crashing into one of the hall's pillars.
Ivan, not giving his opponents a chance to recover, flicked his wand at the remaining Wizards, sending several Spell Beams flying.
To test his combat abilities, Ivan didn't use any blood magic, but the basic spells in his hands unleashed tremendous power, causing one or more Aurors to fall with each strike...
