Chapter 977: You Can Just Stay 'Ignorant' of Everything
Chapter 977: You Can Just Stay 'Ignorant' of Everything
After finishing his meal at Baratie, Kuro returned to Shelz Town for a few days before heading toward the West Blue. This time, he skipped the Grand Line entirely, flying straight to the Red Line in the East Blue and crossing over directly into the West Blue.
His destination was Pegasus Island. He planned to spend some time here—not to play around, but to rest.
He still remembered the established narrative that his injuries weren’t fully healed, and he intended to keep up that pretense indefinitely.
Pegasus Island wasn’t currently under his faction’s control. The Navy Commander overseeing it was unknown to him, though supposedly a subordinate of the Storbery Brothers. Either way, they were all part of Gramps’ lineage, making little difference in terms of authority.
Even if they weren’t from Gramps’ line, it wouldn’t matter. No one in the Navy had the guts to defy him. The entire industry was his domain—Kuro was Pegasus Island’s largest landlord and capitalist. In a revolution, he’d be the first one strung up from a streetlight.
Since Gran Tesoro’s disappearance, Pegasus Island had absorbed a portion of its displaced tourists, boosting local industries. Kuro even launched advertisements for Dressrosa Tourist One-Stop, capitalizing on the influx.
However, his ads hadn’t diverted these tourists elsewhere; they’d still finish their Pegasus Island itinerary before heading to the one-stop service. With Pegasus Island’s industries and the one-stop experience catering to different niches, there was no competition. In short, the profits stayed within his network—nothing was lost.
Moreover, since Luo Wei’s conquest of the Twin-Horse Kingdom, the region’s people could now freely trade with Pegasus Island, further revitalizing its economy.
The Golden Lion slowly docked at Pegasus Island’s port. Waiting to greet them was the local Navy Commander, along with another figure.
Leaning casually against a port pillar in his traditional black attire, Luo Wei’s facial expression immediately soured as he watched Kuro disembark. He scoffed disdainfully, but his mood brightened when he noticed Lida behind Kuro. However, as Kuro shifted to block Lida from view, Luo Wei’s frown returned.
Kuro: "...”
Are you some kind of emotional rollercoaster?!
“What do you want here?” Kuro asked.
“Big brother.” Lida chimed in at the same time.
“Hmm!”
Luo Wei nodded at Lida before turning coldly to Kuro. “This is an industry built with my money, and it’s right next to my territory. Why shouldn’t I come check it out?”
“No objections, but I’m curious—why did you conquer the Twin-Horse Kingdom? Did they offend you?” Kuro asked.
“Don’t play dumb!”
Luo Wei snorted, but noticing the nearby Navy officers, he held back further comments.
“Vice Admiral.”
The Navy Commander snapped to attention, saluting sharply. “Welcome to Pegasus Island!”
Kuro nodded. “Take care of my Navy personnel. Don’t bother preparing my room—I’ll choose my own accommodations. This island has plenty of industries to pick from.”
“Yes, Vice Admiral!” the Commander barked.
“Klah, lead them to the base.” Kuro ordered.
Adjusting his glasses, Klah signaled to the Navy crew, who began marching toward the Marine Base on Pegasus Island.
“I’ll go explore first!”
Moer vanished in a flash, leaving only a wisp of white light behind. This entertainment industry was his specialty—no gambling or drugs, thank you very much. He’d personally inspect everything.
“Kuro, big brother, I’m going to find some food!”
Waving cheerfully, Lida tugged Ju Geng and Fen Ni toward the island’s center.
Watching Lida disappear into the distance, Luo Wei’s expression suddenly shifted. Grabbing Kuro’s collar, he hissed, “Did you hear that?! She called me ‘big brother’ twice! That proves she sees me as her real brother! You monster—white-haired pedophile—keep your distance, got it?!”
“Hey, evidence, man! Who’s the pedophile? The real one already quit the Navy to become a pirate.”
Kuro brushed off Luo Wei’s hand. “You’re making this up! You’re just a sister-obsessed weirdo.”
Kuzan was the actual pedophile, having followed someone from eight years old to twenty-eight, and beyond. Definitely a ‘pedophile’ and a ‘cultivation’ type at that.
“So you won’t deny you’re a monster or that you like white-haired girls?” Luo Wei narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
“I’ll kill you!”
Kuro shouted angrily, “Are you looking for a fight?!”
“You’re the one causing trouble! You didn’t even tell me! If Lida hadn’t stayed with you this long, I’d have taken her away already!” Luo Wei gritted his teeth.
“You… knew?” Kuro stammered.
Did this idiot find out about the G-3 incident? Or the battles in Wano Country?
Certainly, those events were major. Even for Kuro, they’d been extremely dangerous, let alone for Lida.
“Of course I knew!” Luo Wei snapped. “What exactly are you trying to do, Kuro?! Have you been planning this all along?!”
A rebellion, meticulously plotted from the East Blue days onward. In the decade Kuro spent in the East Blue, he’d cultivated Kash, built his reputation, and gained massive popularity. In the West Blue, Kash had eradicated pirates under Kuro’s command. In the North Blue, he’d secured Vinsmoke clones as his foundation—easily manipulated followers. In the Grand Line, Dressrosa was now his stronghold.
Each step was a dance on a blade’s edge!
“Not really. I didn’t want this, but circumstances forced me,” Kuro shrugged.
He hadn’t wanted to fight Marshall D. Teach, but what could he do when the man had no honor?
And Wano Country? Gramps was injured—he had to intervene.
“You…”
Luo Wei took a deep breath. “Can’t you slow down? You’re moving too fast. I’m not ready yet. At least wait until I reclaim the Flower Country before advancing.”
“Wait, you’re going after the Flower Country too? Whatever. You’re from there originally, but how does this involve me? Battles between member states shouldn’t concern the Navy.” Kuro frowned.
“You…”
Luo Wei’s lips twitched, then he paused. “Forget it. Better you stay ignorant. You’re just a Navy officer—no need to know anything.”
Since Kuro hadn’t exposed his secret yet and was pretending ignorance, pressing further was pointless.
Luo Wei would proceed with his plans.
No turning back now. After eliminating Twin-Horse Kingdom’s disobedient King Alexander Francis post-Dressrosa Meeting, there was no retreat.
Truthfully, there had never been a turning back.
With his sister staying by Kuro’s side, Luo Wei had no choice but to act—willing or not.
