As if prison bars had been erected on both sides of the field, the monsters were confined behind iron railings. The dark Evil Heart Demon and the two-headed dragon had no choice but to crouch down, constrained by the trap, and revert to a defensive stance.
"If it changes to Defense Position, the Evil Beloved Knight cannot attack, and the battle damage won't be inflicted. Naturally, you can't reflect the damage back to me," Jou said.
Yubel clenched her teeth, her voice heavy with emotion. "To what extent will you reject my love, Jou?"
"You're wrong, Yubel. This isn't love at all," Jou said, his expression turning slightly somber. "It was my fault. I was young then, and I thought sending you into space would allow you to receive the right influences and become better. But no matter what, I shouldn't have abandoned you. I shouldn't have forgotten about you, regardless of the reasons."
"You must have suffered a lot these past years, haven't you?"
Jou's attitude caused Yubel to pause unexpectedly. For a fleeting moment, she seemed to see the prince of the past in the boy before her, and her heart stirred.
"I wanted to protect, but I lacked the power. Now I understand that I have gained the power to protect, but it's too late," Jou said.
"But the most painful thing is gaining the power to protect and then losing what you wanted to protect."
Yubel was speechless.
Her words, though calm and narrative, seemed to carry the weight of a thousand pounds, piercing through the darkness and mist, striking the deepest part of her heart—a part she herself didn't even know still existed, the softest part of her being.
For a brief moment, the darkness in her eyes cleared.
But it only lasted for a few seconds.
"No," Yubel shook her head, her expression contorting, "For ten years, I've endured all this pain. This dark journey itself is the love you've given me, Jou. And I will share this unforgettable love with you again!"
Yubel drew a card from her hand and placed it face-down in the back row.
"First, place a card face-down in the back row."
She raised her arm, and a golden light shot out from the graveyard. The light landed on the ground and transformed into green leaves, blooming into a vibrant lotus at a visible speed.
"During the End Phase, I activate the effect of one 'Sacrificial Lotus' in the graveyard," Yubel said. "Sacrificial Lotus, when it exists in the graveyard at the end of the turn, can be Special Summoned in Attack Position on your field.
Come forth, Sacrificial Lotus!"

"Then, during the End Phase, the effect of 'Yubel, the Abhorred Knight' is also activated!" Yubel continued, "At the end of your turn, destroy all monsters on your field except this card!"
The two dragon heads of the Evil Beloved Knight roared in unison, and transparent waves of energy burst forth from their mouths. The small lotus was swept up by the transparent waves, crushed into dust in midair.
"Then, based on the number of monsters destroyed on your field, destroy the opponent's monsters," Yubel cackled. "Is this the power of the Emperor?
Disappear as well! Jou, I'm all you need!

However, as the flames dissipated, they vanished into the demon's armor, leaving no trace of burns or scars. The fire snakes licked the armor, but even they couldn't leave a mark. The demon's expression remained unchanged, as if it hadn't even noticed the attack.
Yubel's face changed slightly. "What?"
"The Emperor scoffed, "Such trivial tricks, how could they possibly affect my Evil Blade Death Demon?"
Evil Heart Hero - Blade Death Demon, this card on the field cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects."
You Bei Er: "Tsk, what a nuisance. Well, my turn ends."
Jou exhales in relief, "That was close. You've taken the attack this turn as well, no wonder you're so capable, Emperor. You've got some skills."
The Emperor: "..."
For a moment, the Emperor is speechless.
Looking at Jou, and then at You Bei Er, the Emperor's golden eyes, which had been cold for a million years, now show a hint of hesitation.
Visions from a distant past, so distant that they hardly seem like his own memories, begin to flood his mind.

The Emperor: "I tried to defeat you before, to absorb everything about you, so that I could become whole. Only then could I unlock the ultimate darkness and obtain the power of 'that card'."
Jou frowned, "That card?"
"Yes, that card," the Emperor said coldly, "That card is the supreme symbol of my power, the Emperor's power, representing absolute strength."
His golden eyes fixed on You Bei Er across from him as he spoke in a deep voice.

"Indeed, there is something powerful entwined with her. Even if we win the duel, it may not be easy to separate those things from You Bei Er."
Jou furrowed his brows, "What should we do?"
The Emperor paused for two seconds.
"We can only use 'that card'," the Emperor said, "'That card' possesses an absolute power that cannot be resisted. With that card, we should be able to accomplish it."
Jou said, "But I don't have such a thing."
"I've said it before; I tried to absorb everything about you initially for that very card. When we become one again and regain our wholeness, we'll have a chance to unleash its power."
The Emperor spoke calmly.
"Do you want to save You Bei Er?"
"Of course," Jou affirmed without hesitation.
"At any cost."
"Without a moment's doubt," Jou said.
"Good," the Emperor said, "Then prove it to me and show her as well.
If you truly have that determination, you should be able to do it. Awaken the card that symbolizes the supreme power of you and I, and use its might to rescue You Bei Er."
"Our supreme power..."
Jou looked at his right hand and then at his deck.
The Emperor remained silent, quietly observing from the side.
Jou placed his hand gently on his deck and closed his eyes.
Yes, he had already made up his mind; he would save You Bei Er no matter the cost.
They had promised each other in their past lives to walk together forever.
Suddenly, Jou opened his eyes, and the golden light in them was even more dazzling than before, like a brilliant golden lion ready to roar in anger.
"My turn—draw!"
