Chapter 975: What? I Already Planned to Control the Wizarding World Three Years Ago?
Chapter 975: What? I Already Planned to Control the Wizarding World Three Years Ago?
What? I already planned to control the Wizarding World three years ago?
Ivan froze in place, almost thinking he had misheard. But when he saw the book in Dumbledore's hands, he immediately understood and his expression changed drastically.
Isn't this the New Century Manifesto that Gryson concocted?
Looking at the familiar cover, Ivan finally remembered. His expression turned incredibly awkward, and he wished he could immediately go to the Ministry of Magic and beat Gryson up.
He had read the content of the book once at Nicolas Flamel's safe house. He vaguely remembered it was filled with baseless speculations and conjectures, all written to flatter him.
But how did Dumbledore get ahold of this book?
After the conference, Gryson had printed hundreds of copies and distributed them to every Auror, but those versions were edited, removing a lot of unnecessary content to avoid causing trouble.
Dumbledore clearly had the original version, otherwise, he wouldn't have said those words...
"Could it be that my Master, Nicolas Flamel, gave this to you?" Ivan thought for a moment and quickly realized this was the case. In his memories, the original version was left in the safe house's room, and it seemed Nicolas Flamel had found it.
The thought that the other party might have read the content made Ivan feel so embarrassed that he wanted to bang his head against the wall.
"You guessed right. The last time I saw him, Nicolas asked me to return this book to you..." The Dumbledore in the portrait nodded and handed the book over.
The surface of the portrait rippled slightly, and a moment later, a red leather book fell through the frame onto the ground.
Of course, this wasn't the portrait turning into reality. Dumbledore had used a spell to hide the book inside the frame...
Ivan picked up the New Century Manifesto, fighting the urge to throw it into the fireplace, and turned to look at the remaining Memory Threads on the table.
"What are these?" Ivan changed the subject, trying to forget that embarrassing piece of history.
"I believe you can guess, can't you?" Dumbledore took a gentle sip of his tea.
"Your magical insights?" Ivan raised an eyebrow, guessing. Since Dumbledore had given the Deathly Hallows to Grindelwald, it made sense that he would leave something for him as a balance.
"Not just mine, but Gellert's as well, though you probably don't need these things now..." Dumbledore shrugged, speaking with a sense of nostalgia.
Two years ago, when he was planning, Ivan's strength still needed improvement, so he had deliberately left these memories to help Ivan defeat Voldemort and Grindelwald.
However, before he could fully implement the plan, he received news that Ivan had driven Voldemort to flee in defeat. In the subsequent battles with Grindelwald, Ivan consistently had the upper hand.
At the recent World Wizarding Council, Ivan even publicly defeated Grindelwald and became the President of the International Wizards' Federation. This made Dumbledore feel somewhat redundant, so he abandoned the idea of helping.
After all, it's just a painting. Why bother with so much? Wouldn't it be nice to chat and have a cup of tea with the former Headmasters when you have some free time?
Why worry about all those messy things…
"Who said I don't need it?" Ivan smirked. He could never have too much magical knowledge, and with Dumbledore's insights, his Transfiguration could advance even further!
Even if he ultimately defeated Grindelwald, the problems he would face wouldn't be any fewer. The stronger he was, the better.
After chatting with Dumbledore's portrait for so long, Ivan had already come to a realization. Regardless of the other party's intentions, he just needed to take the sugar-coated bullet and fire it back.
Dumbledore certainly wanted to use him to reform the Wizarding World, but he could just as easily use Dumbledore to achieve his own goals.
The power he gained would ultimately be his own. Once he absorbed all this magical knowledge, he could do whatever he wanted, no one could stop him.
With that in mind, Ivan stopped chatting with the portrait, opened the glass bottle, and began to draw out and watch the Memory Threads.
...
Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Ivan remained in the Headmaster's Office, rarely leaving. Each day, besides going to the Kitchen for meals, he spent the rest of his time immersed in the memories.
After viewing most of the memories, Ivan understood why Dumbledore had said that these memories contained Grindelwald's magical insights.
During the half-year they had agreed to work together, Dumbledore almost visited Nurmengard every few days to discuss magic with Grindelwald. They even exchanged their memories to a certain extent, holding nothing back.
No wonder Dumbledore could still outmaneuver Grindelwald even in his dying moments. It seemed he had gained Grindelwald's memories, which likely boosted his power.
Sigh… poor Tom…
Ivan silently mourned the fallen Dark Lord in his heart.
The one who suffered the most from Dumbledore's schemes was Voldemort. Armed with an unsuitable wand, he faced Grindelwald, who had absorbed all of Dumbledore's magical knowledge. It was enough to make him question his existence.
With the help of Snape and Harry, the Dark Lord, once feared by all in Britain, became nothing more than a tool to fulfill Dumbledore's pact, delivering the Deathly Hallows to Grindelwald.
[Ding, after some practice, your Transfiguration level has significantly increased. Current level 8 (11865/25400)]
The System's notification sounded in his ear after he finished the last memory.
Ivan slowly exhaled, then lightly tapped his wand. A document on the table quickly transformed into a lively owl, which chirped curiously as it looked around the Headmaster's Office.
Ivan gently stroked the owl's back. Though it looked no different from his previous transfigurations, Ivan knew his magical prowess had improved considerably.
Unless a skilled wizard used a counter-curse to restore the owl, it would remain as it was until the day it died.
Based on his current abilities, he estimated that once his Transfiguration reached level 9, he could fundamentally change an object's nature, just as he did with the Protection Mode enhancement.
